Reviews

Tatiana was wonderful! She took great care of Millie and our home. We will definitely be using her again!

Tatiana was an amazing caregiver + house sitter for my two doodles while I was away! She was communicative and very responsive, and left our house even cleaner than it was before!

Summary: We hired Tatiana to care for our 11-year-old dog (Frannie) and cat (Moira). Both have been through a lot in the last few years, and our dog has become more dependent on having people around. Based on conversations with Tatiana leading up to our trip (and Tatiana’s higher rate) we believed we were leaving our dog/cat in the care of someone who would meet their more involved needs. We even tried making her feel more welcome by providing fresh baked pumpkin bread and snacks for her stay. Unfortunately, she did not meet our expectations and created unneeded stress during an already stressful trip. Tatiana may be fine for drop-in visits or pets that do not require as much attention to care, but she did not dedicate enough time for house sitting and only loosely followed the pets’ schedules. Overall, we would not recommend Tatiana for in-home pet sitting/house sitting. Read on for our full experience. Initial Impression: There was good communication leading up to booking and prior to our trip. She expressed understanding of our detailed instructions and expectations for care, which we made clear in our initial Rover messaging and during our meet & greet. We were looking for someone who would not leave our senior dog for more than 4 hours at a time, would be at the house in the evening hours and would be able to keep our pets close to their usual routine. She said in the Rover messaging, “as of now, I can anticipate being gone for about 2 hours in the early afternoon” which reassured us of her availability. We also foolishly thought that her higher nightly rate meant we could be more confident she would meet these expectations. Caring for our Pets: Despite all verbal and written indications from Tatiana that she could meet our needs of care for our pets, she did not. In our written instructions, we outlined the timing of bathroom needs (dog) and mealtimes (cat/dog), taking into consideration her other afternoon clients and that she would be providing care on a few overlapping days for our neighbor’s cats (who we usually watch). Our ring doorbell and security system notifications allow us to know when people enter/leave our house. Unfortunately, based on these activity logs it was clear she was prioritizing the care of our neighbors’ cats in the morning. The logs indicated she was leaving to feed our neighbors cats at 830am instead of first letting out and feeding our dog. She did not let our dog out until 9am the first two days of overlapping care. Instructions were to let out our dog (7-730a) and feed her (8a) prior walking across the street to feeding our neighbors cats (8a). We addressed this after noting it to be a pattern. She admitted she was taking care of the cats first and she corrected this issue for the final day of overlapping care. On several occasions, she was not home in the evening as she led us to believe she would be. On several evenings she left after the dinner feedings and then did not return until almost 12am or later (118am). The days she was home in the evening she often did not let our dog out before bed, which we had indicated to be 930pm or later. There were several occasions where our dog was last let out around 8p, then not again for another 12 hours. Tatiana did send pictures of feedings for both our cat and dog, some playtime videos with our cat, and pictures of walks with our dog. However, sometimes these updates needed to be prompted by us. The House: Our house was thankfully clean on our return. She stripped the bed she was sleeping in and started some loads of laundry (but bleached one of the bath towels, which possibly we would overlook if everything else had gone smoothly). Unfortunately, she also took the liberty of using our record player despite having placed a “Please Don’t Use” sign on it. We know she used it because the tape was clearly moved, the tone arm was not locked (which we always do), and she Bluetooth connected it to our Alexa (which we have never done).

Tatiana was great with Lola and a true animal lover! She sent pictures and updates which gave me some peace of mind. It’s obvious that Tatiana treats every dog like her own!
