“Our little senior doxie, Rocky, spent 2 weeks with Barbara and we couldn’t be more happy with how it went! Barbara gave him lots of love and cuddles, and they spent some time watching Dodger baseball together. Rocky can’t wait for the next time he can spend time with Barbara 😊”

“This was my second time using Emily’s dog sitting services and I cannot recommend her enough! I love the daily photo updates and it’s so reassuring to see how comfortable and happy my dog is during her stays with Emily. 10/10!”
“Dylan has been wonderful with Smokey. This was our third time leaving Smokey in his care, and once again, he exceeded all expectations. He kept Smokey at his home and treated him like his own, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. What really stood out was the consistent updates—Dylan shared photos and videos throughout the five days, so we always knew Smokey was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. It’s clear he loves dogs and pays attention to their needs. We couldn’t ask for a better sitter and feel very fortunate to have found him. Highly recommend Dylan to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and reliable.”

“Sarah was wonderful, and I would absolutely book with her again. She took great care of my dog, Gummi, and he got along so well with her Pomeranian, Ellie. I really appreciated the frequent updates and photos because they gave me so much peace of mind knowing Gummi was happy, having fun, and being so well cared for. I highly recommend Sarah to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive dog sitter!”

“Maggie took such incredible care of Indie! He had a great time going on walks, playing with her dog Ellie, and lounging around the home. Maggie gave us regular updates and was super communicative. Couldn’t recommend her enough. We will absolutely be booking with Maggie the next time we’re out of town.”

“Malory has cared for our dog more times than we can count. From one night to two weeks, she always takes great care of Willow with multiple walks a day, lots of picture updates, and very easy to communicate with. This last time our flight was severely delayed and we couldn’t pick up at the scheduled time, but Malory was able to keep her overnight. Highly recommend!”

“Serena was so sweet with Chewy and sent photos of him and Nugget on there walks and playing together. Great communication and responsiveness! We would definitely book again with Serena!”

“Dahlia and "friends" made our older dog feel right at home in no time at all for the week. We feel super lucky to have found such a dog-friendly and safe home away!”

“Tammy was fantastic and took great care of our dog! From the photos she sent us during his stay he looked like he really enjoyed himself. We definitely plan to use her again for and future boarding.”

“Kristen and her partner are the best! We had our pup stay at their house while we traveled for the week. Her communication was excellent- providing updates with photos every day, it was something our family always looked forward to. It was clear that our pup was happy at their home - large backyard to play in, lovely walks in the neighborhood, a space to hide upon hearing fireworks, lovely humans to keep him company. Highly recommend!!”

“I had to leave my cat for a week while traveling for work and she did great. Leah & Chris are amazing and the cat room that they have set-up made Ellee feel at home. Thanks so much for taking such good care of Ellee, Leah & Chris!!”

“I felt so comfortable leaving my Hoppy with Theresa . She was so good with sending photos and updates , and had really good energy . She was great with my routine for hoppy and really made him feel at home. When I picked him up , he kept going back to sniff her so I know that he enjoyed his stay. Thank you so much Theresa 🥰🥰”

“Aurora loved spending the weekend with Parker! She loved it so much that she cried on her way home. Definitely returning to Parker for our future dog sitting needs. We also loved getting many photos of Aurora during our trip ?”

“Gabriela was very sweet and attentive with our very active do. She was communicative, kept us updated regularly about our dog's poops and activities. Our dog was well exercised and happy when we picked her up.”

“Josh is a pro; I’ve been using different sitters for over ten years and it is obvious he know what he is doing. Booking was easy, quick responses, reassuring intro and tour, great pics while I was away, and flexible on after-hours pickup. I’ll definitely seek out Josh in the future and highly recommend him to anyone.”

“Rosemary was incredible with my little dog - with high separation anxiety (Her “super power” is: crying!). She was very patient and understanding, taking the time to gain trust/build a bond with her. I was so grateful for the regular (and detailed) updates/chats - plus the many photos! Knowing my dog was in such caring hands is invaluable. Rosemary was also flexible with scheduling, and communication was great! She is a gem! Definitely would rebook and refer her!”

“Kris was great with my two pups! He provided updates during the stay and was comfortable with my dog’s medication at mealtime. I was glad there was a fenced in yard in addition to walks and dog parks in the neighborhood for exercise and socializing.”
“As usual, Shakka's stay with Don was awesome. Shakka responds really well to Don, and seems very happy. Loves playing with Hunter. I always feel extremely comfortable leaving Shakka with Don.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Portland
Seth was great with Lewis and seemed to be well versed with different dog temperaments. Lewis can be a bit reactive towards other dogs, but Seth handled it with ease. I appreciated getting updates throughout the weekend. Overall Lewis was well cared-for and I would highly recommend Seth!

I highly recommend Marissa. Our dog, Riley was very happy staying with her and her partner. They picked him up and dropped him off. He stayed with them for more than 3 weeks. They were very communicative and I was able to relax knowing that he was well taken care of I will definitely use them again
Ricky was sweet and kind and communicative enough for me. Some might prefer daily photos but I didn’t mind. Was able to help setup the Fi collar so could track her walks and workouts. Appreciated that. Gotta close those rings. I could do better at clarifying what kind of grooming I expect. I always forget to ask that her eye boogers are kept clear. It’s hard to know how a dog experiences a boarder’s home since she can’t speak. Ha. Ricky seems great. I’d love to learn more about his dog training experience and how he uses that for the dogs that stay with him. Daphne had a good time as far as I can tell! And Ricky got some nice pics. I’m guessing he learned that the dog adventures themselves don’t always lead to that many steps taken by the dog, of course adventure is joyful, so I appreciate that he helped Daphne meet her step goal before bed even on adventure days.

This was my second time using Sarah, and she was wonderful again! She had great communication and was super flexible when my plans changed. It’s clear she really loves Gummi, and she sent tons of pictures every day, which gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was happy and doing well. I’ll definitely book with Sarah again!

Christine and Steve are the family that accepts you pups as their own. I will never want someone else looking out for my girls. A personalized experience filled with photos, texts, care, attention, and the knowing when I pick my happy girls up that we all feell they have been staying with family.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OR ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
