“Julie took care of my dachshund for a week. It was like he was home with us. Julie works from home and takes walking breaks. She welcomed Walter into her home like he was her dog. She quickly learned his idiosyncrasies. He was happy to see me when I picked him up and comfortable with Julie. She used excellent judgment when he got into something he wasn’t supposed to (soap on the bathtub edge). She sent me photos of him during his stay and reassured me he was fine so I could fully enjoy my trip. She has an excellent home for small dogs with a backyard and home near a park for walks. I’m so grateful to have found her. And will be recommending her to my friends with small dogs and to you readers looking for a caring and responsible dog sitter.”

“I am grateful to Keelan for his empathetic and kind care of Rosie. He was so thoughtful in approaching her health challenges and encouraging in providing her social opportunities appropriate for her timid personality. She had a most positive experience on all levels.”

“We feel incredibly lucky to have found Janice to watch our dog, Pablo, while we traveled to visit family over the holidays. Having peace of mind while you’re away is priceless, and she truly delivered that. Our dog is very sensitive, and Janice was so attentive and thoughtful with all of his needs. It’s obvious she does this because she genuinely loves dogs. Janice went above and beyond taking him on plenty of walks and even bringing him along with her during the day while running errands. Since coming home, we can tell Pablo really misses her, which says everything about the bond she built with him. Her home is beautiful, clean, and welcoming, with a yard. She sent us daily updates and photos, letting us know what they were up to, which always made our day. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with Janice again and hope she’s available the next time we need a sitter. Thank you, Janice!”

“This was the first time I was away from Toby, who I rescued about 2 1/2 months ago. The stay could not have gone any better! I received a daily series of photos that made me smile! They are a caring couple who went beyond the call of duty in taking care of Toby.”

“Sandy and Jody were great hosts for my dog! I only adopted Frida a few months ago and she had to work through some difficult separation anxiety, but at Sandy's house she had loving care, playmates and constant attention. And, I had piece of mind while I was away, as Sandy sent me text pics and short messages everyday - turning on my phone was like opening a new present daily! Thank you!”
“Carol continues to go above and beyond with taking care of our sweet Tela. This is our 3 time booking with her. Her backyard is our favorite part as Tela enjoys sunbathing. Carol always keeps us updated on her status. We hope to continue having her in our address book for upcoming trips!”

“Veronica was great! Our dog Perla is 1 year old and very active and playful. She was kept busy with Veronicas two dogs for 12 days, which Perla seem to enjoy very much. Veronica is very knowledgeable about dogs and very patient. She kept us informed with pictures and videos. We will definitely use Veronica again.”

“Kim and her family are so incredible! Blue is sometimes nervous to leave but this was our second time hanging out and he just ran straight to them and was ready to play! Kim is a really great communicator and sent very cute photos! Highly recommend!!! :)”

“Abby was awesome! She has another dog and my puppy LOVED playing. She sent me photos and videos of the dogs playing together and kept me super updated. It was my first time leaving my new puppy and she made it so much easier! Will definitely be using her again.”

“Noemi and her family were a perfect fit. They were thoughtful, caring and I'm pretty sure our Ella would have moved in. Ella came back happy, healthy and I could tell she had a great time. Will book again next time. Thanks Noemi (and fam)!”

“Kathy is very friendly and knowledgeable. She and the rest of her family have excellent dog intuition and my pups were very comfortable staying with them. I appreciated the informative updates Kathy sent, especially since it was the dogs' first night with them. I will definitely be booking with Kathy again.”

“Dottie was very thorough during the meet and greet. She asked specific questions about my dog and gave detailed information about her daily dog care schedule. During the stay she sent me pictures and text messages each day. She made my dog feel comfortable...”

“Catherine (and Jack & Daisy) made Tilly and Ray's stay full of fun and enrichment. We feel so grateful to have found such a safe and comfortable "home away from home" for our little pack and know they are looking forward to their next visit. Excellent communication, fantastic attention to detail, and an overall warmth and highly attentive care for our fur babes are what will ensure we book again with Catherine.”

“Bonnie is super hospitable and accommodating . She cared for our dog who showed up at her home with a little injury and she took care of her really well. Bonnie also was attentive to Zuzu missing us.”

“Coco had a wonderful stay with Katie & her family. She enjoyed all the affectionate attention & the great walks. We received lots of sweet pictures. Knowing she was in such a loving home made our trip even better! We really appreciate & thank Katie.”

“Tammy was fantastic and took great care of our dog! From the photos she sent us during his stay he looked like he really enjoyed himself. We definitely plan to use her again for and future boarding.”

“Jill was INCREDIBLE! It was our first time needing a long-term sitter and Jill was able to help coordinate care in a very timely manner!! She was very personal and communicative. She really goes above and beyond, daily exercise, runs, playing, dog park, socializing. Basically anything your dog needs. She even offered some homemade/homecooked dog food. Appreciated all of the photos and updates. Thank you so much Jill!! Bodhi had a blast!”

“Thank You ALL for your Loving Patience with Mia as she gets to know you! This was the first time she stayed with anyone that isn't family, so it was a new and scary experience for her. You were all so very kind and gentle with her and I appreciated the periodic updates and pictures! We look forward to seeing you again in October and are so Grateful we found you! :)”

Laura was great! This was my first time leaving my two dogs with Laura and I’m always very anxious to leave them with someone new. Laura was very understanding and sent cute photos whenever I asked. My boys were always snuggling and seemed relaxed and happy during their stay. Thanks Laura!

Jaime and Nicole were wonderful hosts and took great care of my dog Maisie. This was Maisie’s first stay with a new pet sitter, and as an anxious dog, I was worried she would have a hard time. However, Jaimie and Nicole made her feel right at home and she did great!

Leah took such great care of Udon and Pongu. She was communicative, open, and friendly from the start, and her daily photo updates were a highlight of our trip. Both Frenchies looked completely at ease with her, and it was clear they were having a great time. As any Frenchie parent knows, these little guys come with their quirks, and Leah handled them with warmth and confidence. We came back to two happy, well cared for pups. We would book her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her.

The Danes had a great time staying with Danae and Gallus. I knew from the meet and greet that the dogs would be in good hands. They communicated on a regular basis and sent pictures. They were accommodating of my travel schedule changes and just made everything easy. I highly recommend them as per sitters and they have a beautiful spacious home and yard which is wonderful for boarding.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OR ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
