“Maya was INCREDIBLE! I booked based off of reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. I was worried because Cooper being an Australian Cattle Dog and notoriously high energy that maybe she’d be too much but to my surprise she had some shepherds of her own. What a perfect match! Communication, feedback, and overall care for Cooper was absolutely perfect. Meeting Maya too was pleasant. 10/10 would book again if she’d have us! This is your local trusted walker!”

“I have used Carmen as a petsitter a couple times while I’ve been out of town for a few days. She sent me lots of pictures and was super responsive and I would book with her again”

“Raven was such a great help for my trip. Reliable, trustworthy, and took good care of my dogs. One of my dogs can be a bit tetchy with new people and Raven knew exactly how to handle it (ignore ignore ignore) till he came around and I was really grateful for that level headedness. Definitely plan to hire Raven again!”

“Wow. Amazing. Took our booking short notice (a week) took lots of photos, and more than anything: Ellie (our cat) was more open and playful than with other folks. 10/10”

“This was our first time using Rover for our cat, so we were a bit nervous. However, Kayla put us at ease right away with her professionalism. I appreciated that she took off her shoes and, knowing our cat is shy, sat on the floor to meet her at her level, making her feel more comfortable. Kayla’s updates were detailed, and she sent wonderful photos, even bringing in one of our packages. It’s clear my cat has found a new best friend, and I’ll definitely be booking Kayla again!”

“Milo did a great job communicating ahead of the drop in visits and during the drop in visits by providing plenty of notes and pictures. I will happily use Milo again for future cat sitting jobs!”

“Kirby took such great care of my dog Birdy. Birdy is a little shy and timid around new people but quickly became comfortable and goofy with Kirby. Kirby is a great person and is highly recommended. I look forward to working with her again.”

“Christopher was absolutely amazing! He played with our boy and sent us lots of pictures. He will be my first choice going forward! I cannot more highly recommend this guy!”

“Renata reliably took care of all the basics twice a day for my two cats: food, water, a clean litter box, treats, and she also watered my plants. She sent photo updates with each visit, which was reassuring while I was traveling.”

“Thank you so much, Evita! We didn't worry a single bit about our babies while you were watching them. We also loved your check-ins (super cute photos and so happy they came out to see you.)”

“Holden took care of our cats while we were away for the week. They were easy to reach, very responsive, and made sure our cats were safe and sound. Highly recommend! Will book again!”

“This was my second time using Desirée to cat sit while I was out of town and I love knowing I can rest easy, knowing my kitty is such good hands! Thank you Desirée!”

“Karly was absolutely wonderful!! My love and I were a bit nervous leaving our cat with someone new for the first time but Karly made sure that our girl was loved and cared for during our long week trip. We highly recommended Karly for all pet care needs. We are so relieved to have found a great neighbor that will help take care of our girl while we are away. Plus, she has a new best friend! Thank you for being the best, Karly!!”

“Micaela was amazing with Kendrick!! She was very communicative the entire time I was out of town, which was greatly appreciated since I have an older cat with a few ailments. I didn’t have to worry about him at all since I knew he was in good hands. I would definitely book Micaela again in a heartbeat!”

“Jourdan was able to help with a last minute drop in that allowed me to take care of some time sensitive family matters. Her communication, knowledge, and care went above and beyond. I was able to do what I needed to do, while also knowing my diabetic cat was in the best hands possible. Thank you again, Jordan!”

“Molly took such great care of our usually shy cat. She has a natural, gentle way that won over Ollie at their first meeting. Molly also was communicative, punctual and very conscientious.”

“Annie was wonderful, she took great care of my girls. She even helped clean up a bit of a mess they made on my carpet. It is clear that she really does care for your pets while you're away. I will definitely be booking with her again.”

“Olivia was amazing at accommodating my last minute changes to my schedule requests. Winston really enjoyed having them home with him while I was away and I will be booking again!”

“Trace was great with my finicky kitties, as always. And she won over my shy cat. She also was a big help keeping an eye on a leak that flared up part of the time that I was gone. I'm very happy to continue to use her services!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Portland
Alexander is a very reliable and caring pet-sitter. We know that when he is looking after our 3 cats he is doing more than the essential physical care (food, water, litter) and medical needs (pills for 2 cats, eardrops). He is also playing with them and giving them the attention they crave. I can rest easy when planning trips knowing that Alexander will be here for them.

Tayla gave my home and kitty tons of love! She was on time for every check in, sent photos, and when I came home everything was in great condition (food/water, my kitty, and the litterbox). She is easy to talk to and it gave me peace of mind to have her as my pet sitter.

Margaret has been excellent and I’ve appreciated her stopping by and checking on my dogs while I am at work. We had moved up to the area a few months ago and it was wonderful to have her hang with my boys. Dependable and friendly. Always sent photos and updates.

Ash was such a lifesaver, my cat needed a lot of meds after a stay in the emergency vet and Ash helped us immensely with administering them 2x a day. They were very communicative, and so wonderful with my cat who was not very happy about the medication. So thankful for their help and care with my cat!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
