About: I grew up in rural midwest with dogs, cats, and guinea pigs since I was 9. I was a dedicated and loving dog mama to my beloved bernese mountain dog, Riker, for 9.5 years and I miss him very much. I enjoyed taking my boy to thousand acres, Mt. Tabor, and several other dog parks and we've gone on many hikes on the coast, in the gorge, and in Mt. Hood forest. I have special connections with my friends' animals and I've enjoyed taking their dogs for walks since my boy passed last March. I'm a fourth-year doctoral graduate student at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) meaning my schedule can be pretty flexible. I have two full days of clinic per week and fill the rest of the week with writing and research. When I'm not in clinic I can work with my schedule to take your fur baby on walks, check in on them to let them out, or schedule an adventure! I can also come house sit or invite your pet over for the day or extended stay. I have a fenced in backyard with ample space for throwing the ball or lounging in the sun on a picnic blanket. We also live very close to a park for on leash walks or park hangs. Our fur baby passed in March 2026 but our one-level house is still set up to be accessible with rugs on the wood flooring for traction, plenty of blankets and comfy spots to sleep, and easy access to the back yard (just two steps). We allow animals on furniture but respect your rules if that's a boundary of yours!
About: I was born into a family of German Shepherd lovers, and grew up primarily taking care of our German Shepherds until about 10 years old when we also adopted cats and labradors. Once I graduated college, I adopted an 8 week old Alaskan malamute, who I cared for his entire 11 years of life until he passed just recently in January. I am not ready to adopt again, but am missing the presence of dogs in my life and looking to fill that space by helping friends, family, neighbors and members of the community with their dog care needs. I am experienced with puppies, high maintenance animals, and especially with large breeds (my boy was 150lbs at a healthy weight and required at least 5 miles of exercise a day). I am kind, caring, uniquely experienced, energetic and reliable. Due to my experience, I know all too well what it feels like to have to find reliable, safe, trusted care for a large, high maintenance, and/or misunderstood breed - I know that I can definitely offer that unique service in this arena. I currently am taking a break from my career as an executive assistant. I am extremely active during the week, and have plenty of free time in general. I am respectful to how you’d like your dog to be taken care of in your home and out and about. No matter what the need, I am able to discuss, negotiate and accommodate. Though all are welcome - due to my experience, my niche has become working with and caring for large, high maintenance, and/or misunderstood breeds.

“Carmen was so loving to our very affectionate and needy kitties. She went above and beyond what was asked and was incredibly helpful. We will definitely hire her again!”

“Maya was INCREDIBLE! I booked based off of reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. I was worried because Cooper being an Australian Cattle Dog and notoriously high energy that maybe she’d be too much but to my surprise she had some shepherds of her own. What a perfect match! Communication, feedback, and overall care for Cooper was absolutely perfect. Meeting Maya too was pleasant. 10/10 would book again if she’d have us! This is your local trusted walker!”

“Lucinda is the only person that my dogs haven't barked at or been fearful of. I've had them for 10 years, and they even bark at me when I come home. They were totally calm when she came to feed them. It really helped my travel anxiety.”

“Susan did a great job with the drop in visits and our senior pup. She kept us informed and feeling calm while we were away knowing how our girl was doing and that she was getting the care she needed.”

“Justina is fantastic! She has been super responsive and communicative. I feel reassured we found someone who really cares to come look after our pups. Don’t hesitate booking with her!”

About: I get my first dog in 2019 and my second in 2024. I’ve had to administer medications when they have had surgeries. Both of my dogs are nervous so I know how to care for those. I haven’t worked with any other animals but I am willing to learn. I go to school Tuesdays and Thursdays but if needed, I can sit after school after 3pm. I am free every other day and can start boarding Thursday afternoon until Monday night or Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday night. I live in an apartment but I can still walk your dog outside where there’s grass. I do also have a dog who is getting used to other dogs but he is not a fighter. I can also cage one or the other easily if needed. If pet needs to be fed, you must provide the food. I can provide water of course.
“Emma was amazing. She was not only professional and punctual, but she followed all our instructions perfectly. She was great with our boy, and he loved getting to hang out with her and go on walks. We will be booking with Emma again in the future!”

About: I’ve taken care of my own two cats since 2020 and sat my friends’ dogs occasionally! I love animals and my sister-in-law is a vet! My schedule changes week to week! Normally I can sit during the evenings, sometimes I could do days as well. I’m usually free on weekends! We live in a townhouse with two cats. I could come to your place to provide care for your fur babies. We also have space in our house to keep your cats.
“Maya is friendly, thoughtful and communicative. She wrote detailed and entertaining reports about my wacky cat each day. Simone was in excellent hands. I would definitely book her again!”

“Stayed extra long to make friends with my nervous orange tabby! Went above and beyond to make sure he was ok. Even had to play an impromptu game of hide and seek with him when he was hidden away. Truly appreciate how Karly really cared about my sensitive baby, Chonky. And jumped in when other care from a friend fell through. Thank you! Will definitely book again!”

“Jourdan has been great so far. She has visited Penny twice and has already made progress with her. She also came to meet Penny with us after hours before our visits began to make sure knew Jourdan was ok. We appreciated that”

“Clara is great at communicating in advance when there are schedule conflicts (which have been minimal) and in being flexible when things are different for our schedule. And she loves our pup as much as we do.”

“Hannah was great! I booked her at the last minute when my other sitter got ill. She came on time and was flexible when my event ran a little late. She was extremely responsible and seemed quite detail oriented. She and Pancake got along great and she engaged in Pancake’s favorite activity—chasing the ball! Would definitely book her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Homestead
Kathy is always very communicative and reliable! Takes great care of our kitties and pays attention to detail, even doing extra things like opening windows for them when it’s getting hot out. We feel great knowing the cats are in her hands while we are away!

Susan is fantastic! She stepped up and helped us short notice after a last minute cancellation. I was worried about leaving our elderly kitty for a week with someone new. She sent lots of photos and is wonderful at communicating. I will definitely be booking with her again!

Molly is a fantastic pet sitter, I highly recommend her! Both my cats love her drop-in visits while I'm away. Providing wet food morning/nights, cleaning litter box, and always going above & beyond. Thank you for the wonderful care and attention with Leif and Clover!

Taylor and Brett took such good care of my cat while I was traveling. They made sure he had plenty of food, water and treats. And they would take time to play with him with all his favorite toys. It was such a great comfort knowing he was in good hands. They are the best!

Gracie took such great care of kitties while we were away. She spent time letting them acclimate to her when she first arrived and paid special attention to our shy kitty / food-lover kitty dynamic making sure our shy guy got plenty of food and attention. Each day she provided detailed care summaries and sent many photos! Her updates and care of our two babies made it possible to relax while away. We will definitely use her again if given the opportunity. Thanks so much, Gracie!
