My pups were relaxed and enjoyed their time with her. I appreciated the updates and photos she sent, which really helped me relax while I was away. I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience — thank you, Kathy!”

About: I have 20+ years of experience living with and caring for animals, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, and more! I have a dog training background (with a professional certification) and am comfortable working with dogs of all ages and sizes. I’m patient with any pets who are shy or nervous and will work to gain their trust. I’m open to providing specialized care (like administering medications or feeding different pets different diets) with your instructions. I’m a graduate student and have a remote job, so as long as I have internet access in your home, I can stay and give your pets lots of love! I’m also available for drop-in visits and walks. I know how nerve wracking it can be to leave your pets with a sitter. I’m very responsible, communicative, and caring. I’ll be sure to follow your instructions closely, and will provide regular updates with photos so you can feel confident and comfortable while your pets are in my care. I work remotely, so as long as internet access is provided during house sits, I can dedicate lots of time to caring for your pets. I am very organized and clean, and will be respectful of your home whether staying overnight or dropping in. Your pet’s safety is the highest priority to me, so I’ll follow your guidance and take any precautions (like avoiding other dogs on walks or being extra careful when entering/exiting the home, if needed).

About: Pets have been an important part of my life since I was a young child. There is nothing more important to me than making sure pets and all animals are given kindness, consideration, and everything they need to feel safe and well. I am a small business owner with a flexible schedule. I love animals and it is my priority to make sure pets in my care get exactly what they need to feel safe, happy and well while their family is away. I will provide for the animals entrusted to me as if they were my own. You can leave knowing your pets will be treated with much love and care.

About: My care experience and heartbeat for others' pets has come from loving my own dog deeply and fully and knowing how much it means to find someone who will care for, deeply enjoy, and spend time with your pet in the same way you would while you are away from them. Through caring for my own, I am comfortable giving medications and staying on rigid medication routines; taking temperatures; taking walks with certain factors in mind (e.g. behaviors, avoidance of other animals, off leash or on leash tendencies, etc.); and supporting pups in seasons of potty training, being "in heat," or post-surgery. I am a private practioner in the mental health field, so I create my own schedule. I am most flexible on Wednesdays-Sundays, and with advanced notice, can often accommodate most scheduling needs. I am often available on weekends and some holidays. I appreciate caring for your pet in the places they are most familiar and comfortable - their home, neighborhood, backyard, favorite green field of grass, or wherever that is for them. I can easily work with crates or other unique accommodations. I am happy to support your pet in their regular at home routines and in the places they love most.

About: I become best friends with nearly every pet I meet. I grew up with a dog (my sweet Lilikoi) and have sat for multiple family friends. I prioritize pets' needs and comfort level; my dog is a very anxious girl and I understand how it can take time for them to warm up. I am currently looking for full-time work so I have lots of free time! Because of that, my schedule may change soon so I'm a better fit for short-term pet care. I'll make sure to be respectful of your home and your pet, meeting them where they're at and taking things slow, especially if they're anxious.

About: Hey there - I'm a dog lover through and through. And each dog I meet knows it immediately. While I've only ever owned a small dog, I've enjoyed sitting for dogs of all sizes and energy levels. When they're happy (and tired!), I'm happy! I'm currently working part-time, so I have lots of availability for walks during the afternoon or evening. I'm also available to walk your dogs on weekends. I follow each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications, and any special instructions from their owner. In a client’s home, I’m respectful of their space and make sure their pet feels comfortable, safe, and cared for while they’re away. I also provide updates so owners know their pet is happy, relaxed, and getting plenty of attention.

Anna was absolutely wonderful with Toby! She came twice a day while we were away, fed him his wet food, and stayed for the full 30 minutes to keep him company. Toby meowed, and screamed at Anna pretty much the entire time. I can only assume he had many important things to tell her about the state of the household while we were gone. Despite Toby's extensive vocal complaints, Anna was incredibly patient, sweet, and attentive with him. Knowing she was spending actual time with him rather than just giving him food gave us so much peace of mind. Anna was reliable, communicative, and clearly genuinely cared about Toby. We came home to a happy, well cared for and still very opinionated cat. I would absolutely book Anna again and highly recommend her!

Sydney has been wonderful since my original reach-out. Promptly responsive, polite, and easy to work with. She has come over three times now to meet my anxious/nervous little fella and has been great with him! She is thoughtful and patient with him being a bit nervous, follows my guidance for success with my pups, and has helped to ease my anxieties with text check-ins and pictures. Because of her thoughtful interactions, I'm confident that my fella will be comfortable with her being part of his circle of trust. I'm so grateful for Sydney!

Sydney was absolutely wonderful! As a new cat mom and a first-time Rover user, I was a little nervous about leaving my two ragdoll one year old boys, but Sydney immediately put me at ease. I really appreciated that she came over for a meet-and-greet beforehand, and it was clear right away how genuinely she loves and understands animals. While I was away, her updates made me feel completely comfortable knowing the cats were in great hands. She was incredibly attentive, spent time playing with them, and clearly cared about making sure they were happy and comfortable. I loved getting her updates and seeing how well they were doing. I couldn’t have asked for a better first Rover experience. I highly recommend Sydney and will absolutely be booking with her again!

FAQs for Pet Sitting - Dunthorpe

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
