“Maya is excellent - great with the dogs, reports back quickly, and offers a nice walk/potty break for our senior dogs. Highly recommend and she's a great communicator!”

“Kai took great care of my 2 dogs! Took them on a nice long walk, and made sure they had everything they needed. Also, he was able to book on very short notice! Would definitely book another walk with Kai for next time.”

About: I have taken care of cats and dogs from ages 4 months to 12 years! I like to learn each animals needs and modify my care for them! I work three days a week and keep an open schedule to care for others’ animals the other four days in the week! I have a flexible schedule and can even help on the days I am scheduled at my main job! I always ask for your preferences for your animals! Whether this includes walk length, treats and food, and even mannerisms, I always want to make sure YOU and your animals are comfortable!
“My dog is getting up in years and some days has energy and some days wants to take it slow. I can always count on Tayla to be sensitive to her needs each day and tailor her walk. I couldn’t be happier with her sensitivity and kindness to my dog.”

“Mark was fantastic with Oso and was good at being firm but gentle. Oso seemed happy and pleasantly tired! Definitely would have Mark walk him again and would recommend Mark!”

About: I have a 4 year old excitable spaniel of my own who certainly keeps my life exciting! I have always lived with dogs and can’t imagine it any other way. But I also love cats! Nearly all my friends have cats and I have lots of experience pet-sitting for many of them. I love spending time around animals and would love to take care of yours! I have a full-time 8-5 job, but do have flexibility within my week. I wfh at least one day a week - sometimes more. Evenings and weekends are usually super open for me! But feel free to reach out about availability as my schedule fluctuates often. I have a small fenced yard with space for your pup to potty and run. I also have a friendly dog of my own to keep yours company. I have a crate that can be used if your pup likes a place to settle. My furniture is my dogs furniture and it would be the same for your furry friend too! I also have an animal loving roommate - so double the love.
“Julia has been very helpful pitching in for midday walks whenever we have schedule changes and cannot be home. We appreciate her flexibility, communication, and thoughtful attention to our dog!”

“Carlie has been really awesome with dog walking for my pup, Gus, during the work day. Gus is reactive towards other 4-legged creatures, and Carlie has been doing a great job with giving him quality walks while managing their encounters with others. Carlie has also been consistent time-wise and reliable so far.”

“Kind and communicative! My dog wasn’t feeling good and had an accident in his crate upon her arrival for dog walking and she was very helpful. He seemed to enjoy his walk as he was relaxed when I got home.”

“Celeste is such a delightful walker; Bean took to her right away. Celeste was kind enough to take time out of her busy day to meet us before she started walking Bean to see how is on a leash, what her usual route was and wanted to know everything and anything to make sure she was comfortable. I'll be asking Celeste to come hang out with Bean again very soon”

“Desiree is amazing with my corgi, Chester! She was super attentive to all of his needs and is incredibly easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend!”

About: My pets are my babies, so I will take care of your babies with all of the love and care that you expect! I’ve had pets all of my life from the fluffy Persian kitten I got on my 5th birthday to the crazy Pug puppy I got 6 years ago. They’ve always been my babies and an integral part of the family. My pets are with me almost constantly. Portland is a very dog friendly city and I take my dog on some lovely walks around here. I work mostly from home, so the animals just cuddle up when I’m at my desk. My dog is like my shadow and follows me everywhere. I live in a secure building on the South Park Blocks with lots of perfect quiet outdoor space at PSU. I have a balcony and a large outdoor rooftop space at the apartment building. I have a laid back cat and a sweet playful pug to keep your furbaby company. The litter box is top entry to avoid any issues. The apartment is big enough for them to have alone time if needed, and I have indoor cameras and intercoms to keep an eye on them when I need to run an errand. I have air conditioning and heat to make sure they stay safe and comfortable. Filtered water fountain for good clean water all the time. I have a gate in the foyer to prevent any pup from running out of the front door.

“Best dog walker ever. So grateful my dog has such a caring and wonderful buddy to take her on walks while I’m at work. Highly recommend Alicia, especially for anxious dogs like mine :)”

About: I have personally owned two Alaskan malamutes, a black lab, and cats in the past and currently have an adorable little poodle and a black cat. I have dog sat many times for a Maltese, a chihuahua, and a golden doodle, so I have experience with both small and large dogs. For drop in visits, I am willing to go within a five mile radius from my house but that can be flexible in certain circumstances, I might be able to go further. I can let the pets out, feed them, play with them, whatever is needed. I am pretty open for scheduling for the next couple months as I am off of school for the summer, I will have plenty of availability throughout the week and definitely on weekends! For pet boarding and daycare, I can watch them in my apartment which is conveniently located in Northwest Portland, across the street from a pet store and down the road from a park. Since I have a dog and regularly have dogs here I have lots of toys and treats, including allergy and diet friendly ones for the dogs with sensitive tummies! My apartment has a nice fenced in courtyard area for them to play in as well.

About: I've loved animals ever since I was a small kid. I grew up raising 3 rats, 3 cats, and a Great Pyrenees. I have experience walking neighborhood dogs, as well as taking care of hamsters and cats while their owners were on vacation. I currently have no pets due to my building's rules, so I'd take any excuse to help take care of a fluffy creature. Currently working a reduced amount with most of it being from home, so I have a lot of availability to care for your pets. Free/flexible most hours, besides evening on the weekends(and even then, I could potentially work something out with enough time). I enjoy long walks and exercise, and love playing with animals, so I'm your guy if your dog needs a long walk or an hour of nothing but fetch. I grew up walking a stubborn 100+ lb. dog, so I know how to control them if they get a little too excited sometimes.
About: I’ve owned dogs for over 20 years and currently have two corgis, so I’m very experienced with daily care, walks, feeding, and playtime. I’m comfortable with different personalities, basic medications, and making sure every dog feels safe, happy, and loved. Pet care is already a big part of my daily routine as a corgi owner. I plan my days around walks, feeding, and playtime, so adding another pup fits in naturally. I’m consistent, attentive, and make sure every dog gets plenty of care, structure, and love throughout the day. I stick to each dog’s routine so they feel comfortable and stress-free. In my home, I provide walks, feeding, playtime, and lots of attention in a safe space. In a client’s home, I follow their instructions closely and respect their space while making sure their pet is happy, cared for, and on schedule. 🐶✨
About: I have had cats and dogs in my home since the age of 11 and have loved everyone. My childhood dog passed in 2023, around the time I moved from the East Coast (Maryland). My Gracie girl was a rescue and required extra attention during thunderstorms and other anxious situations. Near the end when mobility slowed, we made sure to give her the best, wagons rides and stair carries to spend as mmuch time as possible. I also used to take care of my sisters cat when he got sick with FIP. This included giving him two shots daily for ~3ish months and getting him back to being a healthy boy. He has since moved with my sister and my fiancee and I moved to Portland with our own two cats. I would love the opportunity to take care and spend some time with your puppy or kitty! I work remote full time and besides some scheduled meetings, I am able to provide morning and afternoon pet care in and around the Portland area during weekdays. I live with two cats that my partner and I pretend are our children. Feeding, scooping litter, playing, cuddling are all part of the daily routine and something I would look forward to providing your pet. I am also able to walk dogs or complete check-ins.
The median cost per walk for dog walking in Portland is $20
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Portland
I reached out to Emma to help me out with my two labs after I had knee surgery. Not onlwas she understanding and worked with me when it got postponed and I had to cancel and reschedule everything. She also brought to my attention that I was being double booked which equals to begin double charged. I was completely unaware of this and could not fine on Rover where it was. Long story short she took care of it and I was refunded by rover. Now to the pup's. She's been walking them for awhile now. They love her. When they return from their walk they are happy and thirsty. We appreciate Emma so much!

10/10 Colby is the best! He's extremely reliable, trustworthy, and is the sweetest to our pup, Heidi! She absolutely LOVES when Colby comes over for walks and is sad when he leaves, which is actually the greatest praise ever :D And we have dozens more walks planned ahead already. We highly recommend him for your pup care and walks!

Emma was SUPER patient with my pup who decided to be a nervous Nellie and growl at the sight of the leash. Emma, who had graciously come by a few days prior for a meet & greet with my doggo, was super patient and went at Honey’s pace until they could get the leash on. Emma also let me know how things went and sent pictures of my growly girl after they successfully made it out!

Marie is wonderful, caring, and a great communicator! She was so patient with my pup, who is experiencing anxiety with our recent move. Marie went above & beyond to meet Heidi where she's at, to take the walk-intro slowly, and allow my pup space to feel comfortable. I so appreciate the 5 STAR CARE and consideration Marie offers and highly recommend her!

Violet is the sweetest! My pup is unusually anxious right now, as we're new to Portland. But Violet met Heidi where she was at-- letting her sit, sniff, or walk at her own pace, and was just so considerate. Heidi came back home a happy, tail-wagging girl! And so we've already booked Violet for future dates. 10/10 can easily recommend!!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
