About: While I don’t currently have any pets of my own, I have experience dog sitting for family and friends pets. I work from home and am able to take your furry friend out and about for potty breaks throughout the work day. After work I love taking long walks through the city and I can’t wait to have company if your pet is up for it! Dogs have been a part of my life since I was little and I have always consider them family. Pets are encouraged to snuggle up next to me on the couch while I’m working and in bed for the night. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry companion! I am a work from home gal who is able to take your pet out for frequent potty breaks. I am available for care 7 days a week. I live in an apartment but indoor play and long walks are a specialty of mine. Dogs can expect unlimited cuddles and walks to burn energy.

“arlo had so much fun playing in the huge yard and i felt confident that he was safe and well taken care of with allen. i got lots of pictures and videos throughout the day that assured me he was thriving :)”

“Sheung is a very trustworthy and kind person! Mochi was under great care. He went on an amazing walk under the cherry blossoms, he played outdoors and was no doubt a very happy dog when we picked him up. She’s also located very close to an enclosed dog park so that’s a bonus. Sheung is Number One!”

“Barbara took great care of our dog! She took him for multiple walks and sent pictures. Kai was a happy boy when we picked him up and very relaxed. Great communication! Thank you! Cathy”

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I have years of hands-on experience caring for both dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and personalities. Currently, I live with two of my own pets—a friendly and social labradoodle named Café and a sweet, independent black cat. Through caring for them, I’ve developed a strong routine that includes natural feeding, regular grooming, daily dental care, and lots of physical and mental stimulation. I walk Kafae several times a day, and we enjoy outdoor adventures like hikes, beach trips, and visits to local parks and dog-friendly spaces like Sandy River Delta. I cook his meals using natural, whole ingredients and keep up with monthly grooming, as well as daily ear and teeth cleaning. Beyond my own pets, I’ve provided pet care for friends, family, and neighbors—offering everything from overnight stays to drop-in visits and daily walks. I’m confident managing different temperaments, administering medication (oral/topical), and adjusting to special dietary or behavioral needs. I treat every pet with the same love, patience, and respect I give my own. I understand that trusting someone with your pet is a big deal—and I don’t take that lightly. My goal is always to make both you and your pet feel safe, understood, and cared for. Tips are much appreciated. I donate 10% of my income from each stay to support animals at the Oregon Humane Society. Pet care is a natural and essential part of my everyday life. I care for my own labradoodle, Café, and black cat every single day, so my routine is already built around providing consistent, loving, and attentive care. Each day includes multiple walks, feeding nutritious meals (I cook Café’s food using whole, natural ingredients), daily grooming habits like teeth and ear cleaning, and plenty of playtime and affection. I also make time for regular outings—whether it’s the beach, the Sunday River Delta, hiking trails, or the dog park—so staying active and keeping pets engaged is part of my lifestyle, not an add-on. When I’m caring for other pets, I simply fold them into this rhythm and adapt to their needs and preferences. I enjoy the structure and joy pets bring into my day, and I’m happy to adjust my schedule to ensure each pet gets the attention, care, and love they deserve. When caring for pets in my home, I treat them like part of the family. I provide a safe, clean, and cozy environment with plenty of attention and structure. Pets stay in a calm, pet-friendly space with my own friendly labradoodle, Café, and a quiet, respectful black cat. I follow each pet’s specific feeding, exercise, and medication schedule, and I include them in our daily routine—morning and evening walks, playtime, naps, and enrichment activities like fetch, hikes, or beach trips. I also provide daily updates and photos for peace of mind. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I aim to maintain their regular routine as closely as possible. I respect your space, keep it clean, and make sure your pet feels safe and secure in their familiar environment. I’m attentive to details—feeding, walking, administering medications, and making sure they get plenty of love and companionship. I keep communication open with daily updates, and I’m happy to handle extras like mail, light tidying, or plant care if needed. Whether your pet stays with me or I come to you, I bring patience, consistency, and genuine care to every visit.
“Danielle was great with Mango and she sent regular updates throughout the day. She made sure Mango felt comfortable throughout her stay. She was also very good a communicating when planning drop off and pick up times. Highly recommend Danielle.”

“Catherine was great with our pup! We were traveling from out of state and needed someone to hang out with our puppy while we attended a soccer game in Portland. Great communication, provided pictures while she was watching our pup, and did great with our high energy dog! Would highly recommend and would use again if we are in Portland again!”

About: I’m a work from home PhD student with one dog and one cat. I’d love to board or day care your doggo. I will be home with your dog for their entire stay. I’ll treat your dog as my own: giving them frequent potty breaks, a daily long walk, and lots of scritches. My Pom Ellie would love to have a friend who visits! I have several rooms and can separate your dog for meals, if needed. My dog is very much a food-hunter so our home is kept safe from doggies getting in to anything not meant for them. I only sit one dog at a time. You’ll get lots of photos and updates! 🤍 I run a business that is fully online from my home, and I am also a PhD student. So, I am always home and will be with your dog unless I have to run an errand. We take one longer walk per day and have many potty breaks otherwise (every 2-4 hours). Meals will happen on the schedule you describe. I have a Pomeranian here but she can be separated if your dog has special eating needs. Dogs are welcome on all furniture and in bed. Lots of toys around and my Pom will be so happy to have a friend to play with.
“What a wonderful job Chris did today with Flip! It was so good knowing he was in such good care. And Chris took excellent photos of my little guy! Made the separation easier for me and I know Chris made it easier for Flip.”

“For our pup’s first doggy day care, Bryan took good care of him and helped out on short notice. He’s friendly, on time, and gave a full report on drop off. Will definitely book again.”

“Serena is great! I love that whenever I leave Theo in her care, I know he’s going to get nice and tired playing with Nugget, and I appreciate the updates I get throughout the day. 10/10 definitely recommend and we will keep coming to Serena!”

“We booked doggy day care services at Oriana’s place and our dogs seemed to have a great time while we were gone! We loved the pictures she sent us to reassure us that our dogs first time with a sitter went smoothly. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! I definitely recommend her services for anyone looking to have their pets in good hands.”

About: Ive had dogs the majority of my life and been around many other types of pets. I am an animal lover and have been my entire life. I am currently unemployed. All three of my kids decided to grow up and ditch me and now im just sitting here waiting for someone or something to take care of. I only take on one pet at a time to ensure the highest quality care for your loved one. For care with no other distractions.
About: I was born into a family of German Shepherd lovers, and grew up primarily taking care of our German Shepherds until about 10 years old when we also adopted cats and labradors. Once I graduated college, I adopted an 8 week old Alaskan malamute, who I cared for his entire 11 years of life until he passed just recently this past January. I am not ready to adopt again, but am missing the presence of dogs in my life and looking to fill that space by helping friends, family, neighbors and members of the community with their dog care needs. I am experienced with puppies, high maintenance animals, and especially with large breeds (my boy was 150lbs at a healthy weight and required at least 5 miles of exercise a day). I am kind, caring, uniquely experienced, energetic and reliable. I currently am currently taking a break from my career as an executive assistant. I am extremely active during the week, and have plenty of free time in general. I am respectful to how you’d like your dog to be taken care of in your home and out and about, and also have my own set of everything (leashes, crate, toys, beds, etc) if need be. No matter what the need, I am able to discuss, negotiate and accommodate.
“Dakota had such a great day with Tommy. From planning to drop off, during the stay and pick up, Tommy was incredibly communicative and clearly has a way with dogs. Would highly recommend. My pup loved him!”

About: I have been around dogs my whole life. As a child I grew up raising hunting dogs. In my early teens I raised a Seeing eye dog, which included many training sessions. After that I bred A couple generations of Golden Retrievers. While living in Montana I worked with several breeds ranging from Komondors to Poodles and Bichon Frises. In the last 10 years I have been caring for smaller abused breeds. I cared for a senior abused long haired Chihuahua and now have a little Puggle named Ozzy he is my JOY! I took an early retirement, so I have plenty of time during the day or night to care for your furbaby. I will treat them like my own. I live in a apartment in Slabtown. Plenty of places to walk and parks are close by. Nice neighborhood with lots of trees and other dogs

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Portland
We booked doggy day care services at Oriana’s place and our dogs seemed to have a great time while we were gone! We loved the pictures she sent us to reassure us that our dogs first time with a sitter went smoothly. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! I definitely recommend her services for anyone looking to have their pets in good hands.

Sydney was extremely easy to connect and communicate with, and I am very appreciative of her being available last minute. She seemed to have taken excellent care of my dog. I came home to a very happy, tired girl. Snacks, potty breaks and playtime/walks with Milo, not a bad day. :)) Having never met Sydney, there was never once where I felt uncomfortable leaving my fur baby with her, and I’m a helicopter parent. Lol Thank you Sydney and Milo for hosting her!!

Erika was absolutely wonderful! She took Moon on short notice without hesitation, which I really appreciated. From the start she was warm, kind, and made me feel completely at ease leaving him with her. She kept me updated throughout, which meant so much. Moon and her dog Miabella got along great, which made the whole experience even better. I will definitely be booking with Erika again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable sitter!

Laura and Nicholas are such nice people and they took really great care of my little puppy Edie while I worked a very long shift. They are very thoughtful and accommodating and so easy to work with. I felt very safe leaving my tiny doggie with them and she had a blast. I got lots of cute pictures and fun updates all day long

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Portland commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OR ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
