While I’m mostly at home, I do occasionally go to the gym, run errands like grocery shopping, or enjoy a night out with friends. I love spending time on the porch with the dogs I care for, making sure they get plenty of fresh air and attention.

Safety, trust & environment
I am committed to your dog’s safety at all times. I maintain a clean environment and always keep your dog on a leash when outside. While my backyard is fenced, it’s not fully secure, so I will be closely supervising and your dog will never be left alone. Inside, the main level of my home is dedicated to allowing your dog to roam freely or relax in a crate if needed. I have safety protocols in place when introducing your dog to any other dogs I may be caring for. On walks, I take extra precautions to ensure your dog is safe and will be very cautious if we encounter other dogs.

Information Cynthia P. would like to know about your pet
I specialize in caring for toy breeds, and non-shedding dogs such as Shih Tzus, Poodles, Havanese, and smaller dogs less than 25 lbs. I work from home and desire dogs that rarely bark are preferred to ensure a calm environment for everyone. Your dog should be freshly bathed before their stay, or we can arrange for me to bathe them upon arrival. I care for dogs under 25 lbs. While Rover may list medium dogs up to 40 lbs., this is too large for me. It's important that I can pick up your dog if necessary, which is why I limit the weight. My rates are based on 24-hour increments with a 2-night minimum. An additional fee may apply if there’s extra daytime care needed beyond the 24-hour window. Your dog will enjoy 4+ walks a day, and I am happy to accommodate special feeding routines. I provide purified water as part of the stay. If your dog has special needs, an additional fee may apply depending on the complexity of their routine. Please bring the essentials for your dog, including: Crate or playpen Collar, leash, and harness Dog food, treats, and food/water bowls Bed or brush I also require your veterinarian’s contact information, and you’ll need to list me as an emergency contact at the vet. If this is your first time booking with me, a meet-and-greet is strongly recommended so I can get to know your pet and ensure a smooth experience.
A typical day
I love caring for dogs, and with 17+ years of experience, I am proactive and able to adapt to unforeseen situations. I can reinforce good habits, dog-walking skills, fresh purified-water often, and exceed your expectations with lots of pictures and communication (if you like) during their stay. Walk about 4 times a day, have a small yard for quick potties, and have paw wipes. Dogs sit near me, on me, or on the ottoman. My clients say that their dog(s) are on vacation when in my care, and I tend to agree with this statement.

Shih Tzu/Poodle/Toy Breed Lover
Pet care experience
Hello, I’m Cynthia, and I’m excited to meet you here on Rover! As a passionate dog lover, I offer a comfortable and trustworthy haven for your furry kidz. My friends call me the “dog whisperer” for my unique ability to communicate with dogs, and I take pride in understanding and connecting with them on a deeper level. I listen, observe, and pay close attention to every dog’s individual needs, helping them feel safe and cared for right away. I follow your dog’s routine carefully, ensuring they get purified drinking water, and they’re welcome to relax on the furniture, porch, or fenced-in deck. I am knowledgeable about dog care, from monitoring eating and drinking habits to brushing, grooming, and watching for any discomfort, like excessive itching. Your pet will feel like they’re on a vacation with me, with lots of love and attention. Recently, I moved back to my hometown from Seattle and now have a dog-friendly house near Piccolo Park. I take extra care to ensure your dog is safe around other pets and stays comfortable at all times. My porch is perfect for people-watching, a favorite activity among my furry guests, and the deck offers fresh air in a secure space. I had the joy of raising a Shih Tzu for 16 years, and though I miss him, I’m committed to caring for other dogs while I wait to bring a new companion into my life. Since his passing, I’ve become a dedicated dog sitter, and it’s been a rewarding experience to offer pet parents peace of mind. As I run my business from home, your dog will have my full attention most of the day, except for short trips to the gym or grocery store—sometimes they even join me, safely secured with a dog seat belt and a comfy pad in the car. I believe in keeping you in the loop with regular photos and updates, but I also want to ensure your time away is stress-free. You can relax knowing your best friend is in good hands, enjoying a little vacation of their own!
Reviews

Cynthia was attentive and kind, and our Tilly was well cared for. We appreciated the photos and updates!

Cynthia was amazing with our dog Muffin. From the start, she made us feel really comfortable leaving Muffin in her care. She sent daily updates with pictures and let us know how things were going, which we really appreciated. Muffin needs regular walks and attention, and Cynthia stayed on top of that. She also reached out with questions when needed, which showed she genuinely cared about making Muffin’s stay a good experience. We could tell Muffin was well taken care of and happy. It made the whole trip a lot less stressful for us knowing she was in good hands. We would absolutely book with Cynthia again.

Cynthia is wonderful. She seems to love my anxious dog as much as I do, and he took to her straightaway. She gained "tummy-rub trust" almost immediately. Over Christmas, Cynthia provided Pippin with care and sensitivity when he encountered new situations including places, people, and other dogs, all while keeping me posted with notes and photos so that I could relax and enjoy time away with my family. I would not hesitate to leave Pippin with Cynthia for stays in the future. Pippin would love to see his new friend again soon!

My dog had a wonderful two days! Thanks to Cynthia's attentive care and watchful eyes, everything went perfectly. I was traveling, and Cynthia kept sending me photos and messages, so I was able to enjoy my trip without worry. I’m so grateful for how well Cynthia took care of my dog! I highly recommend her who has a little size of dog :)
