“Couldn’t have been happier with Tommy and the care he provided for Juniper. He’s very experienced and it shows. He sent pictures of junipers stay and other updates. Will definitely be booking more stays with Tommy.”

“Kris is absolutely the best sitter in Portland. He is communicative, he is honest and he is very giving towards your furbabies, he takes initiative to go above and beyond!”

“Puppies first doggie daycare experience and it was a smashing success! Great appreciation for the the photo updates showing her having fun. she passed out the moment she got home. We are already scheduled for another visit!”

“Damon is a wonderful sitter and handled my two dogs with such great care! They had a great time and came thoroughly exhausted and happy. We got videos and photos throughout the day which was awesome. Your dog will be super cared for and in great hands with Damon! I highly recommend him.”

“Sequoia took great care of my 1 year old Great Pyrenees puppy, providing good communication. My pup came home happy and tired from playing with her canine pals. Will book again!”

“Awesome as always! Mikka gets excited every Tuesday to get her snuggles and playtime for the day. I live in the neighborhood and can’t walk within 2 blocks without her pulling towards their house. It’s definitely her happy place, so much so that we come to the private field/doggy oasis to play on other days too! She’s looking forward to her three night stay later this week too. Thank you, Allen!”

“Chelsea has been awesome with my pups, and they love playing with her dogs as well. Their stay has been great. They’re tuckered out and happy every day I’ve picked them up after daycare 💞”

“Hi, We just had our sweet girl, Annie, stay with Allison for several hours. My husband found her cleaned up, seemingly secure, contented and nicely tired (I think the dogs will be good friends). We’d love to connect again and will let Rover know soon. Thank you!!!”

“Tara did a fantastic job with Huey! She was easy to communicate with and make a plan, even though I asked her to dog sit less with less than 24 hours notice. She sent lots of pictures throughout the day to ensure that Huey was having a good time. They even went on a long walk together! When I picked him up he was happy and content. I can tell that Huey was very comfortable with Tara, and I would highly recommend her caretaking!”

“Abe was very flexible and easy to work with. Although I only met his Husky, his dog was well trained and helped mellow out my overly anxious, fear reactive GSD. I hope to work with him again soon.”

“Margaret and her family are the best. We are so lucky to have found them. Margaret is relaxed and excellent with dogs. I am glad my puppy gets socialization with her kids, pets, and a the bustle of a busy house. It’s really cute when her little kids come and hug my dog hello and goodbye, and I love all the photos Margaret sends of my pup playing with the children and other dogs. Margaret is flexible and really patient with my sometimes chaotic schedule. We are huge fans of this family!”

“Maggie was a wonderful Dog Sitter! She took extra good care of my pup. Marley and I felt very comfortable leaving him with her. He was happy when I came back to pick him up and that’s always the best sign. Highly recommend!”

About: I have had dogs my whole life. I grew up in an animal loving family and as a mother of two I have passed the love for dogs, particularly, down to my own kids. We know that our pets are family members and understand that their well-being, happiness, and comfort is of utmost importance! I am the go to dog sitter for friends and family. I have cared for everything from puppies to seniors. Our family is a safe haven for your dog and you can rest assured that they are getting the attention, care, and respect they individually need. I work from home. My rescue dog is by my side all day. He’s the sweetest guy who gets along with any and all dogs. Any age, breed, or gender is welcome. The pups have attentive attention, full reign of our cozy home with doggy door, ample fenced backyard, and friendly neighborhood to walk, if desired! Dogs like their routine and I am understanding of adhering to any restrictions or schedules needed.

“Lauren is great! My dog loved her, and she was very considerate of his nervousness and followed our care instructions perfectly to make him comfortable. Her communication is quick, and we’re so happy she was available to watch our puppy! Two thumbs up!!!!”

“Savannah has been absolutely great with my pup...& that's not easy! Tigger's a very high energy pup. Yet after daycare, he calm & tired from playing. Yeah! She genuinely loves dogs, which is a necessary quality in ANY dog sitter. She knew I was nervous about leaving him, so she sent pics to let me know he was okay. Tigger looked so happy playing with his compadres. Savannah has been very flexible & understanding with me too, which I really appreciate. I'll definitely continue to use her & would recommend her without hesitation.”

About: My husband and I have taken care of animals of all sizes and ages. Each pet has its unique lovable qualities. We wish we could have more full time but are doing this instead! We work from home so we will always be home with your pet! Our dog Lilo and cat Jack will also keep your pets company. We have a fully fenced front and back yard. We have an easygoing 3 year old dog who is eager to make friends and a cat that enjoys playing with other pets (on his terms)
“My big girls favorite family! Her tail almost falls off when she knows she gets to come over! We appreciate the love and care you give her ♥️♥️♥️”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Riverwood
We have a 3 yr. old rescue that came to us 18 months ago with separation anxiety and a caution not to leave him alone in our home or garage. We have only left him with a friend 3 times for 2 hrs or less. And only periodically for 1/2 days @ doggie DAY care. We have invested much time and money in training him and he’s made a lot of progress but we didn’t want him to have any setbacks. He’s being trained to be a service dog for my husband who has dementia. We knew Jude spent 5 months in foster care mostly around men and he has bonded with a couple of men who help us at home. He also had a reactivity to men with beards, baseball caps and mirrored sunglasses. We carefully and purposefully selected Tommy to be Jude’s first Rover experience. The weather was record high temperatures and he made sure our Jude and several others were as comfortable as possible. The many photos showed all doing well. The meet and greet in park a few days earlier was much appreciated and went exceptionally well, including Tommy’s big happy-go-lucky Omar. In our conversation it was clear Tommy has a true gift for dogs. Some reviews describe him as a “dog whisperer” Some say he’s a good “soul”. I agree full heartedly with those reviews and more - if dog’s had a soul, I’d say he instantly becomes their “soulmates”.

Macey was able to assist with our pups last minute. She was absolutely wonderful and easy to work with. She took our dogs on long walks and very attentive to them. They were happy and tired when we brought them home. We would definitely use her again and highly recommend her services!

Briana has a lovely mellow vibe and my pup seemed so happy with her. Briana is very responsive and I appreciate that so very much. I know Elio can be a handful since he's young and has an enthusiastic personality but she had a great day with him. We will book again for sure!

We’ve come back to Ben again and again for his stellar care. Our 5 month old puppy is excited to spend time at Ben’s and we can rest assured knowing he’s being loved and attended to. Ben sends lots of photos and spends ample time with our pup throughout the day. Would highly recommend Ben to anyone who’s nervous to send their pup off. Ben has been our saving grace!!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OR ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
