“Kayla has watched our two cat babies many times! I’m very appreciative of their daily updates with pictures. Big thanks for bringing up our cans and bringing in our packages too! So above and beyond what was expected. It’s so wonderful to have all the smelly litter out of the house when we get home. Couldn’t be happier to have such a trustworthy person to take care of our little four legged family members while we’re gone!”

“Tayla was amazing! She left detailed notes after each visit with tons of pictures. She was flexible, communicative, and quick to respond to any questions/concerns. My cat can be timid around strangers at times but went up to Tayla immediately. I’d be happy to book her again :)”

“Evita took great care of my two fur babies while I was away. This was my first time using Rover so I had a few questions, which Evita responded to promptly. She was very professional and I know the kitties were happy to have her there to play with while I was gone. Definitely would request her again!”

“Raven was such a great help for my trip. Reliable, trustworthy, and took good care of my dogs. One of my dogs can be a bit tetchy with new people and Raven knew exactly how to handle it (ignore ignore ignore) till he came around and I was really grateful for that level headedness. Definitely plan to hire Raven again!”

“Carmen was a great petsitter for my cat while I was gone for the weekend! She sent lots of pictures and was really easy to communicate with and quick to respond to texts. I would definitely book with her again!”

“Micaela was amazing with Kendrick!! She was very communicative the entire time I was out of town, which was greatly appreciated since I have an older cat with a few ailments. I didn’t have to worry about him at all since I knew he was in good hands. I would definitely book Micaela again in a heartbeat!”

“Maya was absolutely wonderful! The best sitter I have had using Rover. I never had to wonder if Keno was okay, she kept me informed and provided pictures and information on every drop in. Even cleaned some of the enrichment toys I left. Wonderful sitter, book her!!”

“Renata accepted my request for a last minute, five day drop in visit booking and sent me great updates and pictures! My travel was unexpected and right after a move, so kitty was a little stressed when we met, but Renata made me feel reassured that she was in good hands with daily visits, and they had some nice cuddles in my absence :-)”

“Christopher continues to be my most reliable catsitter. He is communicative, thoughtful, and problem-solving (when my cat seemed anxious, he deduced the likely source and took care of it). I would highly recommend him.”

“Our cat has had a lot of change recently with moving and being in a new house and has gone back in her shell a bit. But after a day with Briana, she was back in action! Cuddling and playing like they’d known each other a long time. I would absolutely recommend her! A true cat whisperer. Sends lovely updates and captures great pics!”

“Taylor took *wonderful* care of my cats! She did everything I asked, sent succinct and helpful summaries, and - most telling of all - both cats were healthy and happy upon my return. She seems highly competent and I would hire her again in a heartbeat.”

“Desiree looked after our cats for a few days while we were out of town and did a great job of keeping them happy. She was communicative and responsive. Would recommend to anyone!”

“Molly took such wonderful care of my two cats, Millie and Crouton, over the weekend. From the start, her communication was clear and consistent—she asked thoughtful questions and made sure she understood their routines and personalities. While I was away, she sent the sweetest photo updates that gave me so much peace of mind. It’s obvious she genuinely cares about the animals she looks after. Millie and Crouton were relaxed and happy when I returned—and as a cat mom, that means everything. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I will absolutely be rebooking with Molly and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, kind, and deeply trustworthy sitter.”

“I booked Annie last minute to watch my cat over the holidays and she was excellent! She was punctual and thorough and I’m incredibly grateful she was able to be so accommodating.”

“Zach has a very calm energy which is really good for our Lola. He was very comprehensive during the intake to make sure he understood all Lola'd needs and preferences. We had to change plans a couple of times but he was understanding and adaptable (thanks for that Zach!). Zach is our go to person for our home check-in's and walking services.”

“Sandy is so kind to my shy little cat and makes sure he's always set up for success when I'm not home by leaving his toys in enticing locations. This was my second booking and I would definitely book again!”

“Trace was an amazing sitter for our two cats. She was always on time for drop-in visits, posted informative updates and cute pictures, and was very responsive. We will definitely reach out to her first the next time we need a sitter.”

“I know there is already a review saying that Celeste is a gem, but seriously. She is truly a GEM! This was the first time I've ever felt completely at ease having my sweet kitty boy checked in by someone on Rover. She made me so happy to know that someone who really cares for my baby was watching over him. Celeste went so above and beyond. Will definitely be booking Celeste again!”

About: All my life I have been around pets. I’m currently a proud parent of 2 cats. Even the shyest of animals warm up to me very quickly. I am experienced with sitting all types of dogs from German Shepherds to Pomeranians. I have even more experience with cats. I don’t have any human children, as a result all of my discipline and care is reserved for my furry friends. Over the years I have learned how to bring out the best in your pet. I can typically shut down any unwanted behavior. I also love to play with pets because it’s important to keep them active. The only service I can’t provide is sitting at my home due to the cats. I look forward to meeting you and your pet!

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Portland
Susan was amazing for our timid cat. I knew upon first meeting her that she would be perfect. Our cat warmed up to her, which hasn’t happened with other sitter’s. She sent lots of pictures and the communication was great. I didn’t worry at all. Hire her, you won’t be sorry!

Zoe was superb with my cat Isaac. She checked in on him for five days while I was out of town. She administered his daily medication, played with him and fed him wet food. She did a great job and sent very detailed descriptions of her visits with lots of photos. She is very reliable and responsive. I would definitely trust her to watch Isaac again and would very much recommend her to anyone!

Tina was great with my cat, Nala. She spent time with her playing and giving her loves. Every day I was given updates with pictures of a very content kitty. Nala loved her. My Nala was very happy and content when I returned home. I appreciated the care and love she gave Nala when I was away. I will definitely request Tina when I need a sitter in the future and Nala is totally agreeable with this decision.
Excellent care! Olivia communicated really well and was easy to coordinate with even with a big time difference. This was the longest I've ever been away from my cat but she took good care of him and was sensitive to his needs like knowing when he wanted to play, be brushed, just cuddle etc. She also helped take care of an ant issue that came up. Highly recommend!

Jenny is incredible and always sends me the best pictures of our Frankie. She also makes sure she is comfortable and safe on every visit. Jenny is super proactive and always responds quickly! We are repeat customers and would love to continue having her watch Frankie during our future trips!!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Portland. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
