About: My name is Caitlin. I am a youth mental health therapist and certified in animal assisted therapies. In addition to my work with youth (which, honestly, can sometimes be very similar to working with animals), I am extremely passionate about equitable animal care. My passion for caring for all living creatures started when I was young; growing up, my family volunteered at a local animal shelter. Additionally, I was raised in a rural area, so large animals are no stranger to me! Upon entering college, I knew I wanted to continue working with people and their pets. I started volunteering at another animal shelter where I fostered special needs cats, walked dogs, and assisted in fundraising efforts. After completing my bachelor's degree, I adopted one of the cats from the shelter and began a graduate degree in social work. During my graduate student career, I worked at a wildlife/exotic animal resuce center in addition to being a home pet sitter. My vast experience has provided incredible insight on animal behavior and care. Additionally, my professional mental health and outreach career has shown me how to understand nonverbal cues and communicate effectively with all living creatures so everyone has a chance to thrive! My schedule is pretty flexible. I am a practicing mental health therapist; I currently only work 20-30 hours a week in SW Portland and am able to complete a lot of work from home and flex my hours making me very available to hang with your pet and complete routine care steps as needed. I am very comfortable with whatever level of care and comfort your pet requires! Becuase I have emergency pet rescue experience and have worked with special needs animals, I am okay with spending my entire day/night in your home. However, if you would prefer a less intense approach and just someone to drop by and care for your pet on a periodic base, that is also totally okay! In addition to my mental health experience (for both humans and animals!), while I am certainly not a vet, I have been there in emergency health situations for animals and know the appropriate steps to take. I also have a care should - god forbid - an emergency does arise and immediate vet attention is needed.

About: Hi! I have a diverse background in animal care that will ensure I’m equipped to care for your loved one! I have been volunteering with animals since I was 15 walking and pet sitting but I also volunteered heavily with multiple shelters. I’ve worked at board and cares, rescue shelters, and spent many weekends in high school working adoption events. At these facilities I worked with both dogs and cats, doing enrichment activities, walks, feeding, and was trained in reactive dog handling. In college I began fostering cats ranging from 3 week old kittens that required hand feeding and potty breaks to 8 year old ferals that have never lived inside before!
