“Renata reliably took care of all the basics twice a day for my two cats: food, water, a clean litter box, treats, and she also watered my plants. She sent photo updates with each visit, which was reassuring while I was traveling.”

“There were a few accidents during our visit, but Kayla went above and beyond to manage my dog's stress and make sure he stayed happy and comfortable. Will likely be booking again!”

“Clara is great at communicating in advance when there are schedule conflicts (which have been minimal) and in being flexible when things are different for our schedule. And she loves our pup as much as we do.”

“I have used Carmen as a petsitter a couple times while I’ve been out of town for a few days. She sent me lots of pictures and was super responsive and I would book with her again”

“Tayla was amazing! She left detailed notes after each visit with tons of pictures. She was flexible, communicative, and quick to respond to any questions/concerns. My cat can be timid around strangers at times but went up to Tayla immediately. I’d be happy to book her again :)”

“Trace was kind, compassionate and attentive to our baby Xavi. We we're anxious to leave him for the first time but Trace made sure that we get daily updates. Truly truly recommend Trace. People like her are angels on earth.”

“It was our first time leaving our cat babies for a week to go out of town. Sandy eased all of our worries by providing amazing care for our boys, and providing thorough and hilarious updates. Will definitely be coming back to Sandy next time!!”
About: All my life I have been around pets. I’m currently a proud parent of 2 cats. Even the shyest of animals warm up to me very quickly. I am experienced with sitting all types of dogs from German Shepherds to Pomeranians. I have even more experience with cats. I don’t have any human children, as a result all of my discipline and care is reserved for my furry friends. Over the years I have learned how to bring out the best in your pet. I can typically shut down any unwanted behavior. I also love to play with pets because it’s important to keep them active. The only service I can’t provide is sitting at my home due to the cats. I look forward to meeting you and your pet!
“They really went above and beyond! We never leave our boys alone for very long and I was a little nervous, especially with two crazy kittens and one elderly cat that's had health issues in the past and is very scared of new people. They went above and beyond my expectations! They were so wonderful i got the cutest photos and sweetest updates from them, and was really able to enjoy my holidays knowing that my boys were in good hands! And after our plane was delayed they went above and beyond and checked on the boys last minute. I'm so happy to have found them and can't recommend them enough!”

“Glad to have someone with an affinity to cats checking on my baby boy! Celeste was so sweet with my cat and her love with animals really shone though. Will absolutely book again in the future!”

“Raven took it slow with Molly on her first visit, gave Molly time to smell things out and wander around the house with her there. Within a short period of time, Molly was all kisses and cuddles with Raven, even got her out for a walk on the first visit. Raven is so patient and calm with hesitant/nervous dogs. She's a bit of a dog whisperer. Molly loves you Raven, looking forward to the next visit 😍”

“Zachary did a great job watching my doggo. I left care instructions and he followed them well. He was very communicative and made this an easy experience with no issues. I can tell my doggo misses his drop in visits. I would recommend him and I would choose him again to watch my doggo if I need it.”

“Briana took amazing care of my two cats. She was clean, responsive, communicative, and sent tons of pictures and updates. I could tell my cats we’re comfy with her after the first two visits. She also stepped in last minute when I wasn’t able to get home as planned, which was such a huge help. I’m so grateful for her reliability and kindness, and I would absolutely book with her again! 12/10!”

“Christopher is absolutely the best! Leaving Pax alone when we travel is always hard, but Christopher gives us such peace of mind! He’s really wonderful!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Portland
Lori went above and beyond to care for our cat and home while we were away. Our kitty needs medicine for her allergies and Lori spent a lot of time connecting with our kitty and even practiced giving her the meds to build up her trust with Lori. Lori completely understands the complexity of cats and their behaviors. She sent beautiful pics and checked in on our plants as well. We are so grateful for her help and highly recommend her.
Helen was a joy to have as a drop in cat sitter for our two rowdy kitties! We received amazing updates every visit, alongside pictures of our girls lounging around and munching away. When we came back, both kitties look super happy and healthy, purring their hearts out! Their litter box was spotless and their bowls and feeder were full! I would recommend Helen to anyone who is looking for someone to watch over their fur babies ❤️ We will be sure to book again!

Gracie was fantastic! My kitty is anxious and struggles with meeting new people and she loved Gracie, who took such sweet care of her. She is communicative, reliable, and sends the best pictures and updates that kept me feeling relaxed while on my trip. 10/10 would recommend Gracie for all your kitty sitting needs.

Tayla is wonderful! I wouldn't hesitate to book with her again. I felt at ease knowing she spent quality time with my feline friend and she was attentive to take care of everything he needed and a variety of play options. Excellent communication and also sends lots of cute pics

Ava was incredible with my boys! They are very skittish with new people, and aren’t used to me being away for such extended periods of time, and she was very loving and patient with them! She expressed real enthusiasm and enjoyment about my boys, as well, which makes me so happy, as they obviously deserve all the love on the world! Thank you, again, Ava!

Lucinda did a great job caring for my cats while I was away! She was reliable, communicated well, and kept me updated throughout the week. One of my cats is anxious around new people, and it was clear she put in the time and effort to help him feel comfortable with her. I highly recommend her to anyone for a caring and dependable pet sitter.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Portland. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
