About: Owner of English Lab for 5.5 years and she is my World. Got her at 3 months. Life Changer. She makes everyone around her (me included) feel like the most important person in the World. I also grew up with an American Lab which I cared and loved for, for 13yrs. My family got her when she was just a puppy at a year old (I was 13) and she lived to be 13yrs when she passed (I was 26). She is the reason I started to really love dogs. I’ve also volunteered at the Oregon Humane Society quite a bit over the past 5yrs That has been a very rewarding experience. I currently work Fridays-Mondays in the medical field and have a lot of free time on my days off. I usually take Millie, my Lab, for a 2hr walk in the surrounding neighborhoods and try to get her down to the river once a week to swim. It’s by far her favorite activity and she’s a master swimmer. I live in an apartment with my dog and care for her like a child. Because let’s be honest. She is a child. She gets whatever she needs and so will every dog I care for on a daily basis.
“Raven was such a great help for my trip. Reliable, trustworthy, and took good care of my dogs. One of my dogs can be a bit tetchy with new people and Raven knew exactly how to handle it (ignore ignore ignore) till he came around and I was really grateful for that level headedness. Definitely plan to hire Raven again!”

“Christopher was absolutely amazing! He played with our boy and sent us lots of pictures. He will be my first choice going forward! I cannot more highly recommend this guy!”

“Holden took care of our cats while we were away for the week. They were easy to reach, very responsive, and made sure our cats were safe and sound. Highly recommend! Will book again!”

“Micaela was amazing with Kendrick!! She was very communicative the entire time I was out of town, which was greatly appreciated since I have an older cat with a few ailments. I didn’t have to worry about him at all since I knew he was in good hands. I would definitely book Micaela again in a heartbeat!”

About: My pets are my babies, so I will take care of your babies with all of the love and care that you expect! I’ve had pets all of my life from the fluffy Persian kitten I got on my 5th birthday to the crazy Pug puppy I got 6 years ago. They’ve always been my babies and an integral part of the family. My pets are with me almost constantly. Portland is a very dog friendly city and I take my dog on some lovely walks around here. I work mostly from home, so the animals just cuddle up when I’m at my desk. My dog is like my shadow and follows me everywhere. I live in a secure building on the South Park Blocks with lots of perfect quiet outdoor space at PSU. I have a balcony and a large outdoor rooftop space at the apartment building. I have a laid back cat and a sweet playful pug to keep your furbaby company. The litter box is top entry to avoid any issues. The apartment is big enough for them to have alone time if needed, and I have indoor cameras and intercoms to keep an eye on them when I need to run an errand. I have air conditioning and heat to make sure they stay safe and comfortable. Filtered water fountain for good clean water all the time. I have a gate in the foyer to prevent any pup from running out of the front door. There is an off leash dog park one block away. I will only take your dog there if you tell me that you’re comfortable with that.
“Olivia is the sweetest, and I trust her more than anyone with my kitties! She took such good care of them and made sure they were happy the whole time we were gone. I would absolutely book her again and again! ?? Thank you, Olivia!”
About: I was born into a family of German Shepherd lovers, and grew up primarily taking care of our German Shepherds until about 10 years old when we also adopted cats and labradors. Once I graduated college, I adopted an 8 week old Alaskan malamute, who I cared for his entire 11 years of life until he passed just recently in January. I am not ready to adopt again, but am missing the presence of dogs in my life and looking to fill that space by helping friends, family, neighbors and members of the community with their dog care needs. I am experienced with puppies, high maintenance animals, and especially with large breeds (my boy was 150lbs at a healthy weight and required at least 5 miles of exercise a day). I am kind, caring, uniquely experienced, energetic and reliable. Due to my experience, I know all too well what it feels like to have to find reliable, safe, trusted care for a large, high maintenance, and/or misunderstood breed - I know that I can definitely offer that unique service in this arena. I currently am taking a break from my career as an executive assistant. I am extremely active during the week, and have plenty of free time in general. I am respectful to how you’d like your dog to be taken care of in your home and out and about. No matter what the need, I am able to discuss, negotiate and accommodate. Though all are welcome - due to my experience, my niche has become working with and caring for large, high maintenance, and/or misunderstood breeds.
“Susan was very prompt in her responses and made sure I felt very secure leaving my precious dog with her. She made sure to go above and beyond taking him for a walk and also bringing my package in from the front porch. Thank you Susan!”

“Our cat has had a lot of change recently with moving and being in a new house and has gone back in her shell a bit. But after a day with Briana, she was back in action! Cuddling and playing like they’d known each other a long time. I would absolutely recommend her! A true cat whisperer. Sends lovely updates and captures great pics!”

About: Hi! My name is Anika H. and currently I'm a student. Something about me that many other people may know is that I've always had a deep love for animals. My passion and knowledge for this job first started when I first met a service dog in training at girl scouts, ever since then I had the need to constantly be around dogs. The jobs on this site include everything that I absolutely love! Helping others, seeing dogs and earning experience for my future dream job. If you hire me I swear I will not let you down. I cannot wait to meet you, and I cannot wait to meet your lovely dog! I only work part time currently and my favorite thing to do to get out of the house is take my dog for a long walk, he has someone else to take care of him at home, which frees me up for your pet! I take great care to learn your pet's personal schedule and needs, I will always fill any water/food bowls, clean any litter boxes (if applicable), and make sure your pet is secure and safe.
“Pretzel is usually a little wary of new people coming into our home, but with Catherine, things seemed to click instantly, which says a lot! We really appreciated the pictures and communication throughout. We couldn’t be happier and look forward to booking with Catherine again!”

About: I make sure each pet brings home a beautiful portrait from their walk- a pet postcard. A good walk can bring out the best smile from pets. I am a photographer and graphic designer that works from home. My dog is walked 3 times a day. I have a lot of free time in my hand. So I can travel to different neighborhoods. I make sure they have a nest or space they can be comfortable in. They are allowed to sit on the couch while I work. They always should have water and toys to play with.
“Woody is fantastic and 5 stars isn’t nearly enough. This was my second time having Woody puppy sit my almost 4 month old bernedoodle. From the first time I reached out to Woody, he has been quick to respond, professional, kind, compassionate, caring, attentive and so willing to help. He most recently came through for me pretty much last minute when another sitter needed to opt out. I couldn’t have been more thankful to him and his willingness and efforts to accommodate my schedule and put my mind at ease knowing my baby would be in great hands. He is prompt and very responsible and sends lots of photos, videos and excellent updates! My little guy absolutely adores Woody and I would happily have him puppy sit again and would highly recommend him to anyone. He’s a top notch sitter!!”

“Clara is great at communicating in advance when there are schedule conflicts (which have been minimal) and in being flexible when things are different for our schedule. And she loves our pup as much as we do.”

About: As a professional dog groomer, I bring a calm, confident energy to every pet I work with, whether they're full of zoomies or need a gentle touch. I have hands-on experience with dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and needs, including seniors and pups who are still learning the ropes. I’m attentive to body language and behavior, and I know how to make pets feel safe and cared for. I’m especially good with anxious dogs and can provide a spa-like level of patience and calm. Whether it’s giving meds, brushing out mats, or making sure your dog’s routine is followed to a T, I’ve got it covered. Your pets will be treated like my own—with love, respect, and plenty of snuggles (if they want them!). I have been a dog groomer for 8 years and counting! I am very familiar with dogs and their body language, needs, and health. I tend to like animals more than people. I would love to get some exercise with your pup or stop in and give some loves. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. We can also work around my schedule :) Thank you for taking the time to read. I work Friday through Monday but can always stop in before and after work. I have a very flexible schedule, and I am available for walks before and after work as well. When I care for pets in their home, I focus on keeping things calm, consistent, and tailored to each animal’s unique needs. I’ve worked with dogs of all ages and temperaments—my own pup, Bennie, is a miniature poodle who’s full of energy and personality, so I’m used to regular walks, playtime, and keeping up with routines! I love offering drop-in visits and dog walking because it lets pets stay comfortable in their own environment. I make sure to follow feeding and medication instructions carefully, respect your home, and give your pets lots of attention and care. I'm also happy to send updates and photos so you know your furry friend is in good hands. Walks are paced to your dog’s comfort and energy level, with safety as my top priority. Whether your dog loves to explore or prefers a short, relaxed stroll, I’m here to make sure they feel happy and loved.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Portland
Peter is great! He is so friendly, reliable, and responsive. He did several drop-in visits for our little dog while we were out of town for a day. He gave excellent updates. We felt totally comfortable knowing our dog was with him. Our dog seemed to feel really comfortable with him as soon as they met. We will definitely use Peter again in the future and will recommend to our friends.

Michael did an excellent job! We chose Michael after doing several interviews. We had to do our due diligence because one of my dogs is LARGE and SCARED. Michael came to our home to do a meet and greet and my dog fairly quickly took to him. She barks out of fear and it can be scary, but Michael was fine with it and didn't escalate her fear at all. After the successful meet and greet, Michael did a test run with my dogs - entering the front door without us, sitting with them for several hours, and leaving before we returned. It went perfectly! He sent me a ton of videos and pictures to show me how they all were doing together. Michael allowed her to figure him out at her own pace and in the end she was napping comfortably as if there was never any issue. My other dog, the traitor, followed him around and snuggled up to him immediately. He earned a 5 star, but I begrudgingly give it because I don't want him to ever be too busy to sit for my dogs!

Margaret has been excellent and I’ve appreciated her stopping by and checking on my dogs while I am at work. We had moved up to the area a few months ago and it was wonderful to have her hang with my boys. Dependable and friendly. Always sent photos and updates.

Liliana was awesome. I was so nervous about leaving my older dog alone. He is a large older dog and very nervous around people and other dogs. She was so warm and welcoming, and he took to her like she was family. Also, she updated me regularly be sending photos and checking in with me. I would highly recommend her to others.

Emma was really amazing! 10/10! Super responsive, attentive and gave me a piece of mind that Ruben and Raisin were in great hands. Appreciate the constant updates and taking care of the pups and my home while I was gone. Especially Raisin while he is going through a leg issue and needed meds and special care. Thank you so much can't wait to have you watch them again.

Kayley once again did an excellent job taking care of Baja at our house while we were gone for a long evening! She paid close attention to our feisty dog Baja's many care instructions and was quick to ask about one item that I hadn't made very clear. I wasn't able to answer in time and so she made her best guess, which turned out to be exactly right...but she also kindly offered to come back over if her guess wasn't correct. We'll continue to keep Kayley as our first choice for caring for Baja at our house when we're not available!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone.
