I am an experienced sitter who is trained in pet first aid, and utilizes positive reinforcement and force-free training techniques. My gentle nature and intuitiveness make me a great fit for cats, senior dogs, and pups on the shy side. I also have experience with reactivity. I have always loved animals and find connecting with them easy and rewarding. I take the time to build a trusting relationship with each pet I look after. That in combination with my intuitiveness ensures that I can anticipate your pets needs and give them the best possible care. Along with having pets of my own since childhood, I also have two years of experience working with a rescue that was home to all kinds of creatures—from dogs, to chickens, to cows!

Safety, trust & environment
My preference is to care for pets in their homes where they feel most comfortable. I make a point to be very respectful of my clients’ homes—I aim for a “leave no trace” approach to house sitting. I like to send daily updates with photos of your pets to give you peace of mind while you’re away.

Mel cared for my dog & cat within my home for several nights while I was out of town. Meleika was so wonderful! My pups loved her! They can really be a handful sometimes, and I get a little anxious leaving them, but Meleika handled everything beautifully. She was so on top of communication, sent pics every day, and really made me feel comfortable leaving for the holidays. She also stayed in my home with the pups and left everything super tidy afterward. I can’t recommend Meleika enough!
Meleika took great care of Freddie and was able to accommodate a last minute request during the holidays. She shared lots of sweet pics and updates, and he clearly warmed up to her quickly!

Schedule
Pet care is my full-time gig. I am available from 9am on each day for walks and drop-ins. For my house sitting clients I can guarantee they will be left alone no longer than 6 hours at a time, with a midday check/potty break included each day.

- Please let me know in advance about special needs, reactivity, or territorial behaviors so I can respect their boundaries and take the best care of them. These things are not outside of the scope of my experience, but they may require a different approach, so they are important for me to be aware of!
