“Thank you so much for your help Hannah! You dealt with the cats really well even when Oreo was a bit grumpy and maladjusted to our absence. We appreciated all your updates and pics and looking out for Inky when she was hiding.”

“Alina was so great! At the last minute my husband and I realized that we wouldn’t have cell service while we were camping when Alina would be taking care of our cats. Since this was the first time Alina was sitting for us AND it was in our new home where we weren’t completely sure how easy it would be for a new person to navigate it (or how the cats would do with us gone for the first time), we were worried about not being available for Alina to contact and update us. We asked if she could communicate with my mom instead since we have a satellite communicator with my mom and she could relay messages to us. Despite all those complications (including our cat Romeo needing oral medication twice a day), everything went really well. Alina handled the last minute changes easily, communicated thoroughly with my mom, helped us feel at ease and when we came home our cats seemed relaxed and happy. We’re grateful for Alina’s care!”

“Diamond was great! Having her pop round to meet the pups the day before my trip away was ideal. Having never used Rover before I was apprehensive to how the process would work but Diamond put my mind at ease straight away. Not only is she a lovely person but I could tell she was responsible and that my two dogs would be in great hands. I was away for a couple of days, and she came over to feed, walk, play and give medication to the pups when needed. Diamond touched base with me on each visit and even sent through a picture to show they were doing fine. When the trip was over, we wrapped it up and spoke about future visits. If Diamond is available I will certainly be using her in the future. Thanks a bunch!”

“Bianca truly went above and beyond to take care of my two kitties, she sent me daily photos and updates and even scrubbed my carpet when one of them threw up. I would 1000% book again, she did an amazing job! <3”

“Carmen did a great job! My very shy cat liked her from the first meet and greet. Carmen communicated well, sent pics and was very conscientious. I would call her again!”

“Joy was so sweet with my kitty! She is very communicative, spent a lot of time with my girl and made sure to follow all my instructions! Will be rebooking her in the future for sure!!! :)”

“Alex was so helpful taking care of our kitties checking in on them while we were away. They sent pictures and updates and our interactions with them were so positive!”

“Cypress was great with our cat! She checked on everything during the visit and sent us photos and updates which gave us peace of mind while we were away. Our cat seemed comfortable with her and we really appreciated how reliable she was. We would definitely book with Cypress again!”

About: I grew up in the country with many dogs in the family. My parents bred and showed champion Afghan Hounds as well as boarded other breeds of dogs. I have raised and cared for many amazing dogs, cats, horses, goats, rabbits, salamanders and a gold fish named Charlie. My absolute love for all animals and my special bond with my 18 year old rescue, Fez, lead me to managing a local doggy daycare and boarding facility. I learned so much about all kinds of breeds and mixes, puppies and seniors, managing medications, nutrition, play time, and their beautiful personalities. What a wonderful experience that was! My deep love for dogs, hiking, the outdoors and the Oregon weather makes dog walking a true pleasure for me. I can take dogs to Forest Park or just around the neighborhood sidewalks and trails. I have a very flexible schedule and I am happy to take walks, pop in for a visit or look after in your home while you are away. I'm looking forward to meeting you and your best friend and taking great care of them. I have a very flexible schedule and can work around your routine. I love getting out there in the mornings but I am also happily available for walks in the afternoons and evenings until 7:00pm. Safety is the number one priority period. I have a very calming demeanor and can sense what my pet partner is feeling in their environment. My eyes and ears will be focused on your pet and our safety at all times inside or outside, staying 5 steps ahead with their care.
“Natalie was fantastic with my dog, Mochi! She was on time, dependable and reliable. I struggle leaving my pup with people and she made me feel comfortable with trusting my pet with her. Will be rebooking for sure and highly recommend!”

About: Taken care of dogs since I was a kid, have had many of my own. Love dogs and can’t wait to meet all of the fun pups I am currently working from home so have plenty of flexible availability to meet you and your dogs needs. Weekdays are preferred but can adjust as needed I have a fully fenced yard with two very friendly and loveable dogs who always love to make new friends. Also have crate if needed
“Chloe took care of our dog for three weeks during our summer vacation. She's responsible and our dog loves every time we leave on a trip because he gets to hang out with Chloe.”

“Clara is great at communicating in advance when there are schedule conflicts (which have been minimal) and in being flexible when things are different for our schedule. And she loves our pup as much as we do.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West Haven-Sylvan
Rachel did an amazing job as our sitter. She not only gave us peace of mind during our vacation that our cat was well cared for and safe, she also was very thoughtful in the little details of our cats needs during her visit. For example when she noticed our cat was a little stressed from the noise of the landscapers, she made sure to give extra comfort, and close the windows for her. Really special care! And all the updates really make a difference. Thank you Rachel!

Laura is great! She is very communicative and thorough. I appreciate how understanding she is of our rambunctious puppy and sometimes overly excited adult golden. She helped us out on short notice for a drop in, and she’ll be coming back for a longer stay soon. Very relieved to have found her.

Viktoriya saved the day! Last minute drop in visit with my cat because the automatic feeder stopped working when I was out of town. She fixed the feeder, cleaned up a little mess the cat had left on the floor, and kept me up to date. Cat was hiding under the bed the whole time, but came out as soon as she left to get some food. So grateful she was available. Very professional service. Would highly recommend!

I had Freya do a quick drop-in visit to prep her for some upcoming stays I booked. She was very attentive to my plethora of details and asked questions to ensure she understood. I was clear she really wants to provide great service and make sure my cat is well cared! It was a good beginning!

Sophia was amazing. Before the first day she came to meet us and the cats and any listened carefully for instructions about how to feed the cats and anything they needed. She asked questions about needs, food, and if they needed medicine or anything special. When the time came she was great and communicated clearly and took pictures. She went above and beyond and even did extra I didn't ask of her. I would recommend her 10/10 times and will book her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
