About: I’ve cared for low, medium, and high energy dogs, small, medium, and large breeds, friendly and reactive. I’ve dealt with food allergies, leash-pulling, SQUIRRELS! and anxious dogs. My 4.5 year old just passed in July 2025 due to cancer. He had food allergies, was reactive to other dogs, and was extremely smart and athletic. He was also very vocal and obsessed with toys. He was trained in the basics, running with me, basic scent work, counter conditioning for his emotional outbursts, and random tricks. He was very selective about who he liked and suspicious of strangers. I had a lab as a kid who loved absolutely everyone but would steal your food if you weren’t paying attention. I’ve had experience with dogs of many personalities and needs. I will treat your baby like my own. I can work with dogs of any age. I am available on most weekends during the school year, and any time during winter, spring, and summer breaks. Weekend walks, drip-ins, house-sitting, and boarding are all easiest for me. Weekdays are tough because my regular job is a teacher. Walks: properly fitting harness and leash, treats, following the rules of the road/crosswalks/etc. Client’s home: follow your instructions for dog care; always make sure dog is happy, fed, watered, crated or otherwise secure in the home etc. as asked. Doors will be locked when I leave and your home will look as clean as it was when I arrived when I leave.

About: My love for animals started as far back as I can remember. I learned to take gentle care of animals by my Nana, who has had cats and small dogs her whole life. She taught me how to remove mats and fleas with a flea comb when I was about 7. I spent time working as a dog bather (washing/brushing/force drying/nail trims/light hair cuts/ear cleaning/de-matting) all while learning what makes a dog comfortable/uncomfortable in high stress environments. When I knew I was personally ready, I was thrilled to get our family dog, Benjamin, to raise with my children. I trained him the basics (sit, lay, come when called, bathroom, safe unleashed running in the yard), before he was a year old and have pride in that. I’ve taught my children to be kind and compassionate to all animals and creatures alike. We don’t kill bugs inside or out! I also travel to watch my father two larger dogs (one being a puppy) and keep them on their routine and training schedule. My mom has had 5+ cats for the last 20 years, and I help with getting them to their vet visits (getting them into their carrying crates) and watching or visiting them when she travels to take care of the litter boxes and feedings. I understand dogs well, can read their body language and facial expressions and understand what they want or don’t like. My friends know that I like pets, so usually when they go out to play or travel, they will entrust me and my girlfriend to take care of cats and dogs. We have also taken care of hamsters and ferrets. My girlfriend is also a very kind person. She has raised pets since she was a child. She has raised dogs, cats, rabbits, and fish. I have learned a lot from her and I like pets more. I think respecting pets and accompanying pets are the two most important factors.

She has trained him exceptionally well and has kept him in excellent health. He is a big dog around 60-70 pounds. She has also cared for numerous other dogs, including my dog Hazel, who is about 45-50 pounds. Elana is very knowledgeable about dogs, dog training (positive reinforcement methods), and keeping dogs healthy and happy. She is very capable of dog sitting and walking almost any dog even if the dog requires special care, a special diet, or some extra patience due to anxiety or other issues.
