“Sky was very accommodating and sent me some cute pics of my Louis. She is so good that he even ate for her and potties for her. He rarely does that with a new sitter without some coaxing. He felt very comfortable with her. I would definitely use her services again.”

“I was called out of town on a last minute trip and Supon was able to accommodate our dog on short notice. He took great care of Puff and ensured he was happy throughout his stay. “Emily was so great with our puppy. She was great at communicating with us, took lots of pictures, and our puppy was throughly tuckered out and the end of the day. It was great to be able to leave him in such good hands.”

“Attentive pet care from a very competent dog owner. Ohana is excited to arrive in the mornings, and returns home calm and stress free as a result of the good company and good mental engagement and playtime with Louie. 10/10”

“Jason agreed to watch Charlie, our senior citizen dog, at the last minute. Charlie seemed to have a really great time with him. When my wife picked him up, he had a real pep in his step, which is always a good sign. Jason was very responsive, flexible and understanding. We will certainly use him again.”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs since I was very young, and caring for them has always been a natural part of my life. I currently have a pug, so I’m very familiar with daily routines like walking, feeding, bathing, and giving lots of love and attention. Friends, neighbors, and family have always trusted me to look after their pets, and I treat every dog as if they were my own. I’m currently a nursing student on break, and most of my classes during the semester are online. This means I’m home full-time on all non-clinical days and have plenty of time to give your pets my full attention. My schedule is very flexible, so I’m available most days for walks, drop-ins, and boarding. Safety is always my top priority. I grew up with dogs and currently have a sweet pug, so I’m very comfortable handling pets of all sizes and personalities. My home is clean, calm, and pet-friendly, and I always make sure dogs are supervised, fed on schedule, and kept in a safe environment. I’m happy to crate your dog if needed, follow any routines you prefer, and give your pup plenty of love and attention while you’re away.
“Vanessa is great to work with! She’s super prompt and friendly. She was amazing to our puppy Remi. She had dog toys for a Remi to play with and did a great job of sending us photos / updates throughout the day!”

“Irina did a wonderful job caring for my new 5-month-old puppy, Otter. She was punctual, responsive, and provided great updates during his day care stay. I greatly appreciated her taking him in last-minute. Otter had a blast playing with her other pups. Thank you, Irina!”

Sophie was an amazing sitter for Larry! It was the first time we had left him with someone for a full day so I was a little nervous. She sent me plenty of pictures and updates which calmed my nerves. Larry had a great time with her so we will definitely use Sophie again!

Daniel has been an amazing dogsitter for Lenny. He's already been looking after him on specific days for a few weeks in a row, and Lenny is always so happy with him. He's also helped us a lot with Lenny's socialization, which we really appreciate. He always sends us feedback on how the day went, which gives us a lot of peace of mind. We feel very comfortable and confident leaving Lenny with him. We highly recommend him!

We had a wonderful experience! Thank you so much for taking such great care of our bunny. Everything went smoothly, and we really appreciated your kindness, reliability, and communication throughout. We would be happy to book with you again and highly recommend you to others
Aoife was wonderful with my dog. From the meet and greet to his day staying with her. My dog can be anxious and Aoife definitely had a calming, caring energy that had a positive impact. She responds quickly to communication and is helpful in very way. Highly recommend.

I can honestly say she is the best! 👍 My one and a half year old miniature poodle had an amazing time. She took more pictures of him than I normally would 😂which I really appreciated. The best proof of his great time was that he fell asleep right away! (He usually still wants to play with me after regular daycare😅)

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in DC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
