About: I have had pets for all 24 years of my life! I love taking care of animals! I am a GW grad student who is looking to earn some money in an honest and hard-working way. I am very responsible and communicate. I am very detail-oriented and prioritize care/safety for your pet. I am currently in class M-T 8-4! I am free Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all day everyday. I sometimes have exams Friday morning but are completed asynchronously. I am very dedicated to work. I am a very careful in meticulous person, I am always looking to clean the pets bowl, make sure they use the restroom, and are fed and hydrated. The animals comfort is my number one priority and to ensure keeping them safe I like to build trust as well.
“Victoria was an amazing sitter!! She sent wonderful pictures and descriptions of her drop-ins, which made me feel so at ease while I was on my trip. I could tell my cat Blackjack really adored her and loved the time he spent with Victoria. Would absolutely recommend her.”

“Katherine went above and beyond caring for our dog when we took a last minute weekend trip. Not only that but she did extra tasks like bringing in our packages and even offered to sweep snow off of our stairs. She is reliable and communicated very well. Highly recommend her!”

About: I have taken care of my family dog since I can remember! I genuinely love entertaining, caring for, and relaxing with pets. I am happy to run around the yard or sit and pet your dog! I currently work another job 9-5, Monday through Friday. I am available to hangout with your furry friend past 6PM on weekdays and anytime between 8AM and 9PM on weekends! In your home, I will be sure to keep your pet’s safety and comfort in mind within your boundaries. I have experience with entertaining dogs in small spaces, as well as keeping them away from sharp edges and fences.
“Tobias was great! He came through last minute for us as our regular sitter had to back out of sitting due to an emergency, and did super great with our pup!”

About: My past work as a veterinary technician has provided me with years of experience caring for diverse breeds, specializing in coordinating complex feeding schedules and managing senior pets with health needs. I prioritize a safe and calm environment for every animal. I have been retired for two years, which makes me available all hours of the day. I am flexible with providing care on weekends as well as weekdays. If it is your wish that I do so, I am available to stay with your pet in your home if needed. Your pet will receive the same care I would provide to my own
About: I grew up caring for my own dog Daisy! I was responsible for feeding her, walking her, and washing her. I also have experience pet-sitting both cats and dogs for 5+ consecutive days. As a recent graduate from George Washington University, I have lots of availability to take care of your pets! I’m very flexible and accept booking on short notice. I approach animal care with a deep care for their safety and health, along with a sense of playfulness for their physical activity and fun. I’d love the opportunity to care for your pets!
“Maria was very thorough and communicative about her visits with our two cats. She sent lots of photos and spent quality time with our cats. She is great and hope to use her services again in the future!”

About: I just graduated from law school and am studying for the bar exam this summer! I definitely need to get out of the house for breaks throughout the day and would love to spend that time walking your dog:) I am available during the day most days, as I am currently studying. So all of my time outside of pet care is dedicated to that! I have an apartment, so for boarding dogs they should be ok with an elevator! I try to take dogs out every 2 hours depending on their needs. There are a lot of green spaces near my apartment, as well as a dog park 4!blocks away!
“Amy was incredible! She took such good care of our cat while we were away, and sent us lots of updates. Our cat hopes to see her again! Thank You, Amy!”

He was an excellent communicator, keeping us updated with messages and photos, which gave us real peace of mind during our trip. We highly recommend Davis to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter!”

“Nicholas and Larissa were very kind and professional. They followed all my instructions to a T and took great pictures and updates. Highly recommend! Would definitely book again :)”

“Priscilla was great with my cat. She was very attentive and communicative. She sent me detailed reports and plenty of pictures of him. I could tell my cat felt very comfortable with her and was enjoying the visits.”

About: I've spent years around dogs and cats and love spending time with them. More recently I've pet sat cats needing medication, plus dogs and cats spanning the full personality spectrum: high-energy goofballs and shy, need-to-warm-up-slowly types alike. I read each pet's cues quickly and adjust. I'm outgoing, upbeat, reliable, with good attention to detail. I also have my own cat, so I know what it's like to want a caregiver you can fully trust with your pet's routine. If you're looking for someone your pet will actually be excited to see, I'd love to hear from you — send a message anytime! I typically work 9-5 M-F with some flexibility - especially on Mondays and Fridays. I can always stop by before and/or after work, and depending on schedule/location, I can sometimes do a midday visit. I'm pretty flexible on the weekends. When I'm caring for a pet in your home, I stick closely to your instructions — feeding schedule, medication, walk routine, and any specific habits or quirks you flag. I do a walkthrough of the space early on to spot anything that could be a safety issue (open trash, auto feeders plugged in and functioning, etc.) and make sure doors and gates are always secured. For dogs, I keep an eye out during outdoor time for other animals, traffic, or anything that might spook them; for cats, I make sure litter, food, and water are consistent and that they have a safe, quiet space if they're the shy type. I'll also always check in with you with photos, updates, and answering any questions! Additionally, I'll always treat your home with respect. I am clean and organized and happy to help with tasks like bringing in the mail, watering plants, etc. I typically can't bring pets into my own home but if there's an emergency in your home (i.e., power outage or water leak) while you're away and the pet needs to come over while we figure out a solution, I'm happy to do my best to accommodate that.
“Nithya was great with my cats. She spent time playing with them and sent me several pictures each day that I was gone. I will definitely ask her to watch them again.”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Washington, D.C.
Lia was fantastic with our two big Maine Coon boys. We were away for 11 days and she provided care and lots of pets to our cats who definitely crave affection and are often affected poorly by changes in their routine. Pictures were provided and she was very responsive. Will hopefully be able to book her services again! 10/10 highly recommend

Mireille did an amazing job in a very challenging situation. My cat can be a challenge with new people, she actually hid under the bed during the meet & greet and for the first few days of my absence seemed to enjoy the petting, treats and play time with Mireille but about the 3rd or 4th day of my absence she became aggressive; hissing and howling and swiping at Mireille. This can be scary but Mireille hung in there making suggestions for how to address the situation and we agreed a plan. When weather kept me from returning as scheduled, Mireille offered to come check on Libby again. It was very reassuring to know that Mireille was on the ground and attending to Libby.
Shirley took great care of Katja, and we had a wonderful experience with her! She was incredibly warm, kind, and responsive. We reached out with very little notice, and we really appreciated how flexible she was in accommodating our request. During the visit, she sent us lots of photos, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. Her visit notes were thoughtful and reassuring, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about Katja’s well-being. We would be very happy to book with Shirley again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter! Thank you!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
