About: I have had pets for all 24 years of my life! I love taking care of animals! I am a GW grad student who is looking to earn some money in an honest and hard-working way. I am very responsible and communicate. I am very detail-oriented and prioritize care/safety for your pet. I am currently in class M-T 8-4! I am free Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all day everyday. I sometimes have exams Friday morning but are completed asynchronously. I am very dedicated to work. I am a very careful in meticulous person, I am always looking to clean the pets bowl, make sure they use the restroom, and are fed and hydrated. The animals comfort is my number one priority and to ensure keeping them safe I like to build trust as well.
“Maria was very thorough and communicative about her visits with our two cats. She sent lots of photos and spent quality time with our cats. She is great and hope to use her services again in the future!”

“We just got our puppy and had to leave for a wedding so we decided to book with Rover. Savannah was great with our puppy and made sure he received love throughout the day!”

“Nicholas was great with Ella - we came home to a happy cat. Nicholas was also really helpful when we realized we had given him the wrong key - he followed our instructions to access our back door and use our spare key and even made an extra trip to our house because of it. We will definitely hire Nicholas again!”

About: I’m an energetic, reliable, and caring dog lover with years of hands-on experience. I currently have a dog and previously helped care for three dogs alongside my siblings, so I understand the responsibility and love that goes into pet care. I truly enjoy being outdoors—long walks, fresh air, and plenty of playtime are some of my favorite things, especially when shared with adorable pups! I have a special soft spot for senior dogs and make sure they receive the extra patience, attention, and affection they deserve. Every time I walk into a shelter, I wish I could adopt them all and give each one a loving home. I’ve provided drop-in visits and overnight care for neighbors, family, and clients throughout the DMV area, and I treat every dog as if they were my own. You can trust that your pup will receive excellent care, love, and attention. I currently have availability for consistent evening walking opportunities in my area and would love to help keep your dog happy, healthy, and well-exercised. I also own a cat and available for cat sitting as well. With the exception of a few weekends for my personal vacations, I am flexible most weeknights and weekends. I work remotely and will be able to do day drop ins. I have a beautiful golden Irish dog who loves to be outside and play with her toys! I take her to play dates at the local park and walk her through the woods on the weekends. If I am doing an overnight stay with your dog, I will make sure they have proper exercise and that we don’t stray too far away from their normal routine. I will take them on walks, ample play time in the backyard or park and will give them as much love and attention as you!
About: Since I can remember I was always a pet lover. I have experience walking varying breeds from small mixed breeds to husky’s, as well as cat sitting. Five years ago I got an Australian Shepard, she is a ball of energy in my life. I have experience with energetic and anxious animals. I only walk one dog at a time, unless you book a walk for multiple dogs. Please message me any questions. ***AVAILABILITY*** *Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri 8am till late evening *Tues 8am-3pm *Weekends vary due to school and racing (please reach out for weekends, I am happy to accommodate your and your pets needs) *Meet and greet before first visit I'm currently a masters student taking classes Tuesday nights and one Saturday a month, so I have plenty of time to take care of your pet! I'm available for dog walks & drop ins Mon, Wed, Thurs, and Fri 8am-8pm, and Tues 8am-3pm, some weekend availability. My calendar is constantly being updated with my current availability and I am happy to accommodate to you and your pet's needs. Safety is a top priority for me, I care for each pet like they're my own! I only walk one dog booking at a time, no pack walks or dog parks. I follow any guidelines and preferences provided, I only give treats which are approved and as directed. Each visit has at least one photo included. For Dogs, I love to play with them and promise they will get much love, attention, and pets. For walks I can use a preferred route, try to stay in the shade during the summer, and avoid dog parks for safety reasons. For Cats, I will adapt to what the cat prefers. If they need time to warm up to me, I will give them the time and space needed, I will gladly play with them, pet them, or if they just want to do their own cat-things I will supervise them. At the end of the visit I usually leave the tv running on a sleep timer for background noise and visual stimulation. *I like to have a meet and greet before the first visit
“I first worked with Priscilla this summer, and over Veterans Day I reached out to her again because she took amazing care of my cat the first time around! My cat isn’t easy to sit - he’s clingy and he needs both oral medication and an inhaler - but Priscilla has really been great to him, and he really liked her. I love her diligent check-ins and the cute photos she always sends of my cat, which are such a nice surprise to wake up to when I’m away from home! :) She’s super easy to coordinate with and very responsive to my needs as an owner, so I’ll definitely be reaching out to her again!”
“Amy has been absolutely fantastic! From our very first meeting, she was incredibly professional and responsive. During every visit, she provided thorough updates that kept us completely at ease while we were away. Our cat, Luxe, usually sticks to the bed, but he actually waited on the couch to greet Amy the moment she walked in. It was so heartening to hear how much they bonded; he followed her around the house and even felt comfortable enough to demand water from the sink! Amy went above and beyond, handling everything smoothly even when Luxe was stressed and dealing with an upset stomach. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and highly recommend her!”

About: My past work as a veterinary technician has provided me with years of experience caring for diverse breeds, specializing in coordinating complex feeding schedules and managing senior pets with health needs. I prioritize a safe and calm environment for every animal. I have been retired for two years, which makes me available all hours of the day. I am flexible with providing care on weekends as well as weekdays. If it is your wish that I do so, I am available to stay with your pet in your home if needed. Your pet will receive the same care I would provide to my own
About: I just graduated from law school and am studying for the bar exam this summer! I definitely need to get out of the house for breaks throughout the day and would love to spend that time walking your dog:) I am available during the day most days, as I am currently studying. So all of my time outside of pet care is dedicated to that! I have an apartment, so for boarding dogs they should be ok with an elevator! I try to take dogs out every 2 hours depending on their needs. There are a lot of green spaces near my apartment, as well as a dog park 4!blocks away!
About: I’ve been around pets my entire life, especially cats, so I naturally understand their needs and unique personalities. Even though I’ve never owned a dog of my own, I’ve cared for many dogs through friends and family — from puppies who need full attention to older dogs who need extra patience and care. I also have experience giving pets oral medication, so I’m comfortable following special routines. My goal is to always give each pet the same love, comfort, and attention I’d want for my own! I am currently a full-time student at Howard University so I have class everyday. With any free time I have on my hands not studying or in class, I’d love to help! Im happy to take your pets on walks, give them fresh food and water, and spend quality time with them so they feel cared for while you're away. Im gentle and attentive, making sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved. Building trust is very important to me, and treat one like my own! :)
“Alyssa was great with my cat Myla! She’s knowledgeable about cats, played well with Myla and had great communication. I felt more than comfortable with her watching over Myla!”

About: I grew up taking care of my dog while my sister, the cat. I've always loved all kinds of animals. As an adult I've lived with a lot more cats. I used to take care of friends' cats before I got my own. I had an orange tabby cat previously, and I have a 5 year old orange tabby cat now :) I look forward to meeting your pet and giving them the love and care they require and deserve! I work from home a lot, but if I'm ever at the office, it's less than 10 min away from home. On a typical week I go Mon-Wed-Thurs. I have a one-bedroom apartment and an extra door to my living room. If for whatever reason our cats do not get along, they both would have their own space full of toys.
About: I have over 13 years experience caring for dogs. I have experience with diabetic, and older dogs who need regular medical care as well as puppies who need lots of play time and frequent potty trips. I enjoy making my client's time away from their dogs as stress-free as possible, as I know how hard it can be to leave a pet in the care of someone else. By the time you return home you will have enough Snapchats, text messages, and photos from your furry friend to make his/her own vacation album! I live in a two story home with a small fenced in back yard so dogs have the ability to get stretch their legs and be outside regularly. I do have a small black cat named Ashton Carter. He is very friendly and is looking for a partner in crime! He would love to meet his new roommate before they come for a play date! I currently work full time mostly from home! My favorite types of breaks are with my fur baby! Working from home means your baby always has a human for scratches, walks, and a watchful eye! I have a third of an acre lot with a fence all the way around giving your fur baby their own private dog park. My cat AC loves dogs and other cats, but 🤧 f your baby is not a cat person AC has is own little kitty suite in the house where he can spend his time.
“Marta was great looking after our cat, Bijou, while we were away for our honeymoon. She was consistent with her check in times and provided detailed updates on how our guy was doing. She even helped bring in some packages that had arrived and looked after our dying plants :)”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Washington, D.C.
This was our third time booking with Taylor as we love how she cares for our cat! She is so friendly and communicative and she truly makes an effort to understand your pet’s needs and how she can best accommodate them. Our cat was recently diagnosed with asthma, so I was mildly concerned about leaving her alone, but my conversations with Taylor made me feel so much more comfortable as I knew she would be in great hands. Couldn’t recommend enough!!

Rachel took great care of our cat while we were away. She visited exactly as scheduled, made sure our cat was fed, and spent time playing with her during each visit. She kept us updated after every visit with messages, photos, and videos, which gave us great peace of mind. Rachel is reliable, caring, and clearly loves animals. We would happily book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter. You can go away with peace of mind that your cat is well looked after.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
