Pet care experience

Your best friend’s new best friend!

Hi! I’m Rachel, I’m eagerly looking for people who need pet sitters in DC! I live with my 10 year old, small dog, and we have lots of experience with ranging animal types, sizes, and ages. I live in a low environment, one bedroom apartment in NE. I have easy access to the MBT where my dog and I enjoy walks along the path and sometimes to the Alethia Tanner dog park. My experience in DC has been a lot of fosters lately, mainly dogs but a few cats as well. I’ve raised a few puppies and also hosted our home to middle aged and senior dogs while they found their forever homes. I look forward to taking care of your babies too!

Rachel is a long time dog lover and has had dogs all her life. She has been fostering dogs for the past 2 years and they have regular outings to socialize and exercise their legs. Her dogs are well loved and trained and generally hang out with her when they are all home. Rachel is very responsible about any specialized diet or feeding regimens. Highly recommend her for caring for your dog!

Rachel is very knowledgeable and experienced with dogs of varying age/size/breed/temperament. I would recommend her to anyone, she is responsible, loving, and will ensure your pet is in the best hands!

If you are looking for someone who will treat your dog like absolute royalty, look no further than Rachel. I have seen firsthand how she interacts with pups, and "dog lover" doesn't even begin to cover it. She has an innate ability to connect with animals, instantly making them feel safe, calm, and loved. Rachel isn't just someone who will feed your dog and take them for a quick walk; she is the type of person who will get down on the floor to play, give the best belly rubs, and pay close attention to their unique quirks and routines. She is incredibly responsible, deeply attentive, and possesses a natural patience that works wonders—whether she’s hanging out with a high-energy puppy or a gentle senior dog. Leaving your furry family member with someone else can be stressful, but with Rachel, you can genuinely rest easy. She is trustworthy, communicative, and will care for your pet with the exact same dedication, warmth, and love that you do. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

Schedule

I work full-time but am hybrid, so I’m only in the office about 2 days a week. I spend the rest of my time working from home, with my dog. I like to spend a lot of time at home, both during the week and on weekends, so lots of quality time will be spent with your pup too

Safety, trust & environment

I live in an apartment with an elevator with easy access to grass for short potty breaks and wider, open spaces for more exercise. My home is very chill and low-energy. If the weather permits and I have time after work, my dog and I enjoy short walks along the MBT to Alethia Tanner dog park.

Pets

A typical day

There is easy access to a small dog park near my house, but also lots of grassy areas for them to go on walks while leashed as well. There’s opportunity to walk along the MBT to Alethia Tanner Dog Park, or just keep it strictly to a leashed walk. I spend lots of quality down time in my home, just hanging out with my dog, so your dog will enjoy that kind of company as well.

Please let me know if your dog is okay with other dogs. I have a small, 10 year old dog who lives with me. He’s very mellow and easy going. It would also be helpful to know how often your dog needs potty breaks and for how long they can be left alone at a time, for the 2 days I do go into the office. Also potty training and kennel training are good to know as well. I have experience with dogs who are and are not trained in those areas, but would still like a heads up.
