“This is the first time that Natalie has taken care of my kitties and I'd definitely have her back. Fabulous communicator - kitties and house in great shape upon my return.”

“Elise stayed at my place for five days to watch my cat. She was very responsive to my questions throughout my trip. She also came by beforehand to meet my cat who is usually shy but he quickly warmed up to her. She took good care of him and left my place very clean. Would happily recommend her!”

“We are so pleased with the thoughtful care Gabriel takes of our pup. He brings his intelligence and caring to all of the tasks he completes and he is reliable and trustworthy.”

“Annie was wonderful with our two dogs! She was very communicative while we were away and sent loads of photos. She also left our home in perfect shape (possibly even better than we left it!) Will definitely be booking with Annie again!”

“Eunice is so wonderful! She understood my directions really well, asked a lot of questions beforehand, and it looks like Eddie had a lot of fun hanging out with her too. By the time I came back from vacation he was well fed and bright eyed. I can't wait to book Eunice again!”

“Sol was a wonderful house guest/petsitter! This was our first time booking with Sol & I was absolutely delighted by the care they gave my pets, AND my house. Sol was the perfect houseguest. They took our dog for runs, and sent pictures of the pets to check in while we were gone. I would definitely recommend Sol & look forward to booking them again. Thank you so much, Sol! I'm so happy we found you!!”

“Michelle was awesome! She was prompt, communicated, responsible - and looked after my two dogs well. She also noticed my puppy had a small swelling/allergic reaction. Made dog sitting look easy. Thanks so much!”

“Arrived home to a spotless house and very content dogs—Bruce did a great job with everything, including administering medications. Will definitely work with him again in the future.”

“Tassia was great with our dog Bruce. I really appreciated the responsiveness and the number of photos that were sent everyday for updates. Bruce seemed to have a great time and Tassia even taught him some new tricks while we were gone. Our house was also left in great condition. I would definitely recommend Tassia and would happily do another booking.”

“This is the second time Gerald has taken care of my two dogs age 15 and 6. He is very caring with them and sends me lots of pics. The house was left in perfect condition for my return and I have no hesitation in recommending him.”

“Emily did a great job taking care of Penny, especially giving her a liquid antibiotic via syringe which was an unplanned care item. Penny was very happy and well adjusted when we came home which meant she was quite comfortable with Emily. The house was in perfect shape and we would definitely have Emily sit for us again.”

“Allie was fantastic! She watched my one year old dog and I felt so comfortable knowing he was in great hands. She sent me updates and pictures and gave him so much love. I would highly recommend her!”

“Mandy was wonderful and we are very happy with our experience. She was very communicative throughout, and shared several updates including photos while we were away. As a first time sitter, Mandy took the time to truly get to know our dog, spent lots of quality time with her, and did not leave her alone for long. Finally, she left our home spotless and in great condition. We’d highly recommend Mandy to anyone looking for a caring, responsible pet sitter.”

“Diane took care of our dog and cat this past long weekend and it was a great experience from beginning to end. She sent great updates with pictures throughout her stay at the house! The animals were happy and well cared for. We will absolutely book Diane again!!”

“If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Michael was absolutely amazing and a consummate professional. He answered my query within the hour and we confirmed everything very quickly. Catthew loved his care I will be requesting Michael’s care again for sure. Consider me a repeat customer!”

“Yali is the real life dog whisperer. I was out at ease while on my trip because I knew my pooch was going there love and attention he deserves when I’m gone. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am. You can believe everything she says in her profile.”

“Elianna is our go-to sitter for our two little dogs. Having watched them several times, it’s clear how much they love when Elianna comes to stay. Daily care includes two long walks, plenty of playtime, and attentive care that matches how we treat them ourselves. We also really appreciate the daily updates and photos. While staying in our home, Elianna consistently leaves everything clean and tidy.”

“Jade was the best. She was available very last minute and was wonderful with our pets. Plenty of regular updates and photos. We will definitely have Jade watch our pets in the future.”

“Sol is always super great while pet sitting my fur babies. Both my cat and dog adore her and its obvious from all the photos she sends during the visit. She captures the cutest pictures. Sols communication is also really great - she's always checking in and providing updates throughout the day. I really appreciate her communication and honesty, for example; during the stay one of my items fell and she let me know right away. I have no complaints and recommend Sol. I look forward to booking with her again!”
“Jen was a perfect house sitter for our puppy Roux. From the very moment she met Roux in our meet and greet about a week before the stay, Jen was warm, patient, and caring to our pup. Our dog has some stranger danger, but warmed up to Roux so quick like Jen was a true dog whisperer. During the stay she was very communicative and sent up us updates with photos. We knew from the entire stay she was taking great care of our little girl. We would highly recommend her for future stays!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Seattle
Erin is amazing! She and my dog Oogi really bonded while I was away and Erin communicated extremely well. She sent lots of updates, pictures, and made sure to check-in when something Oogi did seemed odd. Erin cares like your pet is her own. As an anxious dog mom, she made me feel very comfortable leaving Oogi with her. Plus my apartment was spotless when I came home. Ugh, a dream. Couldn’t recommend Erin enough!

Andy continues to be the best Rover ever. 1 week before a recent scheduled house sitting, my 12yo cat broke her leg and had surgery. Andy came for a pre-visit on their own time to get familiar with our new routine, including 5 medications, a modified litter box and “crate rest”. They took incredible care of Ava during my 2 nights away, sending regular updates. There is no one else I would’ve trusted with Ava so soon after a surgery. We are so lucky to have Andy in our lives!

Linda is absolutely amazing and welcome in our home anytime. She responds quickly, sends daily photos and updates. She’s Rover’d for us before and Luna remembered her right away which is amazing because she tends to be shy with new friends. Oh, she also washed her sheets and towels before she left. It wasn’t requested or required but certainly appreciated! We’ll definitely be asking her to stay with Luna again.

Five stars! Machele took excellent care of Benny, our Lab, and Mocha, our 14-year-old Puggle. Machele was extremely thorough, asked lots of detailed questions ahead of time, and carefully planned for anything unexpected that might come up while we were away. Machele communicated clearly throughout the stay and sent us lots of photos, so we always knew the dogs were happy and doing well. We felt completely comfortable leaving Benny and Mocha in Machele’s care and would absolutely hire her again!

Emily was very accommodating for my very last minute request. She was able to come over the day I left and got along just great with my dog Bandit.🙂 I received daily pictures of Bandit out and about and was able to communicate that a Chewy shipment had arrived. Emily was able to go get it and provide new treats to Bandit. Emily is very friendly, easy to talk and text with, and was able to give me any updates I requested. She was even able to work with another Rover pet sitter to switch off for a second week, coordinating key hand-off. Fortunately, I'd used the other sitter before, so introductions with Bandit were unnecessary. I will definitely use Emily again, assuming Bandit is still around that long. He is 15 already. 😕 Thanks Emily!

Nahiely (and her husband) are truly wonderful with our puppy Kit. It was hard to leave her for two weeks, but we knew she was in excellent hands. Nahiely regularly sent updates and photos, helped continue Kit’s puppy training, and took great care of our home. We are so grateful to her!

Yali was an absolute lifesaver! We needed a pet sitter on very short notice, and she stepped in without hesitation. From the moment we met her, it was clear she genuinely cares about animals, and our cat took to her right away. She kept us updated with messages and photos, giving us complete peace of mind while we were away. When we got home, our cat was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared, which says a lot, since cats can be pretty selective about people! We’re so grateful for Yali’s kindness, reliability, and the incredible care she gave our cat. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy who will treat your pet like family, we couldn’t recommend Yali more highly. She truly went above and beyond, and we’ll definitely be booking her again!

Wow. So very pleased with the experience of having Liberty and Caleb stay with and care for our pets while we were out of town recently. From the outset they were proactive and clear with communications, and were easy to schedule with. When we did our meet and greet, both were caring and interested in our pets’ needs and personalities, and I saw that they both have really great pet energy. Our pup Atari can be a bit difficult about doing her poop walks with anyone who isn’t us, and the way they handled communication with us and with Atari was so conscientious, caring, and present. They respected our home too - we came home to clean dishes and happy pets, but they also went above and beyond and left a sweet note and gift for Cora and Atari! Highly recommend, your pets will be in good hands with Liberty and Caleb.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Seattle walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Seattle maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Seattle choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
