She's completely responsible, reliable, and has great communications, often sending us pictures of our pets, but beyond that, just has a beautiful way about her and a true love and affection for the pets in her care. Our dog, Ollie, can sometimes be a little shy at first but right away, from the photos she sent with his eyes shining and happy, I could tell she'd made him feel completely at ease. Anyone's pets would be lucky to be in her care.”

About: I've spent 10 years raising and training two large breeds, a Golden Retriever and a Black German Shepherd, plus years caring for friends' dogs of every size and energy level, from small dogs to high octane mixed breeds. Where I'm a little different: I actually take dogs outside. I've brought friends' dogs on hikes, camping trips, and backpacking, so if you've got a dog who needs real miles to stay sane, that's my favorite kind of client. I also crate train, teach basic commands, and I'd rather earn a nervous dog's trust slowly than force it. Based in Capitol Hill. Reliable, I show up, and I treat your dog's routine like it's my own. Dog care isn’t something I squeeze in, it’s built into how I already live. My weekdays are flexible, so midday walks and home visits, the window most working owners can’t cover themselves, are exactly when I’m free. I also keep a reliable car, which means weekend hikes and trail trips outside the city are on the table, and those longer adventure outings are my favorite kind of booking. In a client’s home I keep their dog’s routine exactly as set: same feeding, water, crate time, and walk schedule, because consistency is what keeps a dog calm with a new person. On walks I stay leashed and alert. Capitol Hill sidewalks are busy and littered with dropped food, glass, and off-leash surprises, so I watch what my dog is sniffing and give reactive dogs a wide berth. I crate train, reinforce basic commands, and go slow with anxious dogs. Trust first, then everything else gets easier. Big working breeds and tiny lap dogs are equally my comfort zone.

“I had to go out of town for 12 days and hired Lanii to housesit for my kitty, George. She sent multiple pictures pretty much every day, and even sent me extra pictures when I requested a few more on a day where I was especially missing my cat. She was extremely competent and took great care of George, who has some medicine needs and a limp that needs to be monitored. George was happy and healthy when I got home, and will definitely hope to hire Lanii again should I need to head out of town again in the future. She was fantastic!”

About: I have always loved animals from a young age and have been lucky to have so many friends and neighbors who have given me the privilege of loving their pets while they are away. I have experience with dogs of all sizes from miniature Schnauzers to large dogs like the Great Pyrenees. I take the time to get to know my animal friends, figure out their routines and habits, and help to maintain a sense of regularity even while their parents are away. I have also some experiences with cats which has included loads of cuddles and giving medications. Although I do not have any animals of my own I have been a cat and dog aunt to many making sure I give them so much love in the process. Can't wait to meet your fluffy companion and have a ball! Currently I'm in nursing school so my schedule is very flexible when not in class. I make my schedule known through the calendar but can be more flexible depending on the situation. I'm great at following your instructions and am mindful and observant of your pet's behaviors. I am great at communicating and will keep you in the loop and make sure your pet has enough love and care to get them back to you happy and healthy.

About: I grew up in the country and always had dogs around! I recently had to say goodbye to my 15 year old Maltese named Leo. I would love to give your dog attention when you aren't able to. I work full time so I am away from home for ~7 hrs. I am only accepting reservations for dogs that can be left alone that long. Sometimes my days off fall on weekdays, providing some flexibility. Just check with me if you have scheduling questions. *If you are picking up your dog after a late flight, please consider booking an additional night. Sometimes late flights turn into really late flights. I prefer pick ups before 9:30 pm as sometimes I work very early shifts. I watch one dog at a time unless they are from the same home. Your dog will enjoy a private stay as my only guest so I can provide undivided attention. All breeds welcome. I have a two bedroom apartment with plenty of space to play.
