About: I grew up with two dogs and two cats so animals have always been a big part of my life. I am comfortable with different personalities and energy levels, from mellow cuddlers to high energy pups who need a long walk. Your pet will always be in caring and attentive hands. I work remotely from home which means I am around most of the day and can give pets plenty of attention and check ins. I am available for dog walking on weekday mornings/evenings or lunch breaks, with flexibility on the weekends. When caring for pets in your home I treat it with the same respect and care I would my own. I follow your routines, feeding schedules, and any specific instructions you leave to make sure your pet feels comfortable and secure in their own environment. I always make sure doors and gates are secure, keep a close eye on your pet at all times, and send regular photo and activity updates so you never have to wonder how they are doing. About: Most sitters are dog people who also take cats. I'm the other way around. My first cat was Peelu, named for the yellow spots he had, and I've been around cats ever since. Four years of sitting has taught me that every cat runs on its own system, and my job is to figure out yours quickly and then stay out of its way. Some cats want you to leave the room before they'll touch their food. Some need about ten minutes of being politely ignored before they'll come out from under the bed. Some will tell you very clearly that the water bowl is six inches from where it should be. I pay attention to that stuff. I'm comfortable with medication schedules, litter boxes, and shy cats who hide for the entire first visit. You'll get photo updates every time, including the ones where your cat looks deeply unimpressed with me. I do drop-ins and house-sitting around North Capitol Hill, so I'm usually a short walk away. I work from home with a flexible schedule, so I can do drop-ins in the morning, midday, and evening without rushing. Weekday middays are wide open, which is usually the hardest slot for owners to fill. I'm also around most weekends. For housesitting, I'm out of the apartment part of the day but home most evenings and overnight, so your cat gets company at the hours that matter most to them. I keep my Rover calendar current and I'll tell you upfront if I can't make a schedule work, rather than saying yes and figuring it out later. I only care for cats in their own home, which is where cats do best. A new environment stresses most of them out more than a few hours alone does, so I come to them. Drop-ins: I follow whatever routine you already have rather than inventing my own. Fresh food and water, litter scooped every visit, medications on schedule, and play or lap time depending on what your cat is actually in the mood for. I check doors and windows before I leave every single time, and I keep an eye on the things that tell you a cat is off: appetite, litter box output, hiding more than usual, any limping or discharge. If something seems wrong, you hear from me right away rather than at the end of the week. Housesitting: Same routine, plus I'm there overnight. I'll bring in mail and packages, alternate a few lights, and generally keep the place looking lived in. I treat your home like a place I'm a guest in, not a place I'm staying at. No guests, and I leave it the way I found it. Before the first booking I'll ask for your vet's info, an emergency contact, where the carrier is, and anything specific I should know: escape artists, cats who bolt for the door, food aggression between housemates, or a cat who needs to be left alone more than most.

About: I grew up taking care of 5 dogs, 12 cats, 2 fish, and 40 chickens. I absolutely love animals of all sorts and would love to offer any services with some of my free time. I enjoy spending time with dogs and cats and being active with them. But also have experience taking care of disabled and senior dogs and cats and accommodating for their needs. I've interacted with a large variety of different breeds of dogs and cats (small-large). Let me know if I can offer you any of my service, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible! I am available after 4pm Tues-Thurs, and available anytime Mon and Fri. I am available most weekends and holidays. I review any safety concerns from the owner and familiarize myself with the environment and any potential hazards. My main goal is to make sure your pet is safe and cared for. About: Hi! I’m Dawn. I’ve spent over 10 years professionally working with dogs in training, veterinary care, grooming, and enrichment-based pet care. More importantly, I genuinely love getting to know dogs as individuals. My approach is patient, science-based, and centered around what your dog actually needs. I believe walks should be more than just getting from point A to point B. I give dogs opportunities to sniff, explore, decompress, investigate their environment, and move at a pace that makes sense for them. Sometimes that means covering a lot of ground, and sometimes it means spending five minutes investigating one really interesting patch of grass. Both can be a successful walk! My training background is rooted in positive reinforcement and understanding canine body language. I’m comfortable working with shy, sensitive, excitable, strong, reactive, adolescent, and senior dogs, and I’m especially attentive to the little signals dogs give us before they become overwhelmed. I also have experience in veterinary settings, so I’m comfortable caring for senior dogs and dogs who may need a little extra patience or attention. Safety is extremely important to me, and I take handling, equipment, environmental awareness, and each dog’s individual limitations seriously. When your dog is with me, I want them to feel like they’re going on an adventure with someone they know and trust—not just being checked off a schedule. I love building relationships with the dogs I care for and figuring out what makes their tail wag, whether that's a woodland sniffari, practicing some fun skills, exploring a new trail, or simply taking a slow neighborhood wander. And yes—I will absolutely take too many pictures of your dog and tell you all about what they got up to. 🐾🌲 I have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate plenty of time to the animals in my care. Pet care is a major part of my day-to-day life, and I intentionally leave enough time between clients so visits and walks don't feel rushed. I'm available for regular weekly care as well as occasional visits, and I love building consistent relationships with both pets and their people. Safety and trust are extremely important to me. I have professional experience in dog training, veterinary care, grooming, and pet sitting, and I'm comfortable reading body language and adjusting my handling to the individual animal. I use positive reinforcement and science-based handling methods, and I take introductions slowly when a pet needs extra time. I carefully follow your instructions regarding leashes, harnesses, doors, feeding, medications, reactivity, and household routines.
