About: Hello! I'm Shelby. I live with my dog, Maggie, and my cat, Neko (both senior gals), but I still gasp audibly every time I see an animal in the street. I know how scary it can be to be away from your pets, especially if you have to leave them with someone you don't know. I also know how important it can be to leave them with someone you really trust. I promise I'll take care of your babies like they are my own - and I'd love to send you a bajillion pictures of their adorable little faces, too. Rover is my full-time job at the moment! Please check my calendar to see what days I am available for walks, boarding, and other services. I live in an apartment in an older home in the Central District with a fenced yard. Please note I have an elderly cat and dog who are both friendly with other animals but fairly low-energy. My animals have mostly free reign of the apartment - they're allowed on the couches, beds, etc, but I try to keep my dog from going into the bathroom so she doesn't get into my cat's litter or food. As a house- and pet-sitter, I aim to treat your space and your animals the way you would - with respect, love, and care.
“Gabriel has been amazing with Murphy this week! He’s communicative and reliable. Murphy can sometimes be reactive or a little stubborn about walking, but Gabriel handled him so well and was very patient with him. I really appreciated the updates, photos, and extra care during the walks. As I’ve been working long days, I had a last-minute care request and really appreciated that he was able to accommodate it. It gave me peace of mind knowing Murphy was in good hands.”

About: My family got my Labrador retriever when I was very young, and I helped train him when I was 6-7 years old. Since then, I have never lived without an animal around the house. My family was blessed by the cat distribution system shortly after my lab passed away, and had the opportunity to rescue over 10 cats in the last five years. Since moving away from home, I’ve lived with a cat, and I currently live with a dog. I love them all to the moon and back! I have experience with young, old, healthy, and special medical needs cats and dogs, and have dealt with a wide range of personalities, all of which I adore :) I work from home so I have flexibility to attend to a pet’s needs! I have free time in the evenings and weekends for walks and potential park time, and if the weather doesn’t permit, fetch indoors is always an option! We have a large town home with a lot of space for pups to roam. We also have a small, fenced back patio area with turf set up for them to relieve themselves without having to worry about contamination from other neighborhood animals. We have a crate available, and an endless supply of toys and treats. I can’t forget, we have a loving, social, friendly, respectful golden doodle who will keep your fur baby company.
“Hi I just wanted to a minute and talk about how amazing Heidi is! Heidi is so great with Bruno, I've seen such a change in him since she's been in his life. When I get home and take him out he's happier and more relaxed than before. With my partner's and my schedules being so different Heidi has helped us to not worry about Bruno being anxious waiting for us to go outside. His quality of life has gone up and it shows! We love having Heidi we're very grateful at how skilled she is with Bruno, she's so amazing😁❤️”

About: I've taken care of dogs and cats nearly my whole life. I grew up with animals of all kinds and have a genuine love and appreciate for them. I am comfortable giving meds including pills, liquids, injections and subcutaneous fluids. I am courteous and respectful of your personal property and pet care wishes. I am a freelancer so my schedule is very adaptable to you and your pet's needs. I like to keep to their routines if possible and will make myself available as needed including early mornings, late nights, or overnight care. I prioritize a safe, stress-free environment tailored strictly to your pet's specific routine and your instructions. I maintain absolute respect for personal property. My focus remains entirely on building trust and ensuring every animal feels secure, comfortable, and well-loved.
“Lyn has walked my senior large breed dog, Olive, several times. Lyn is reliable, communicates well, and most importantly, always takes great care of Olive! I would love for her to continue walking Olive.”
“You will not find a better dog walker than Justin! He is incredibly professional, flexible, and communicative. Very grateful to have him care for my dog when I need him.”

“I was away on a work trip and needed someone to walk my husky throughout the week. Katelyn was patient with our crazy husky who likes to pull on the leash. She is great at communicating and was super easy to work with. 10/10 would recommend!”

About: I’ve been taking care of pets for the last 10 years. I’ve cared for young ones and older babies who need more support. I’m comfortable giving medication and will give them love and care while you’re gone I am a rowing coach and work in the mornings and do the rest of my work remotely if i have wifi! I coach in the afternoons occasionally as well but only for 2 hour chunks I am great at following directions and really appreciate direct communication of how you’d like your baby to be taken care of. I’m patient and kind to animals and know when they need space vs want attention
“Erin has been wonderful to work with! Great communication on scheduling and feedback about my dogs. They loved her instantly on our meet and greet! Thank you Erin for taking care of them!”

“Samantha was so great with Pepper - it was my first time booking on rover and she gave me total peace of mind. Hopefully she’ll get to walk Pepper in the future!”

About: I’ve helped lots of family and friends care for their dogs. Currently i have one dog and 3 cats that my roommates and I all care for. I have a background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) which helped me gain a lot of understanding for how modeling positive behaviors can pay off in all parts of life. I’m currently working part time until 2pm. On weekdays anytime after 2:15pm will be available as well as the majority of weekends. I’m very flexible and willing to help however I can. I have 4 pets at home and adding someone new into the mix can be stressful so I cannot host. However, I can pick up and play or take for walks.
About: I've been taking care of animals pretty much my entire life, most notable being my Yorkie for about 18 years before she passed from old age. I have also cared for a guinea pig, fish, two cats, and 6 dogs. I understand the importance of an owner feeling safe for their pets (family) when their away and I will do everything to make sure they're happy. I'm open to care for pets anytime when needed throughout the week. It's not often I'm backed up with events that would prevent me from showing up. I always make sure pets get the proper care at the correct time so there isn't any accidents that may occur. A routinely schedule for them is incredibly important.
About: For over seven years, I volunteered with a rescue group, training and caring for dogs with behavioral issues and special needs. (Not to mention plenty of well-adjusted, healthy pups!) As the parent of a senior dog myself, I empathize with all of the emotions and apprehension that can occur (on both sides!) when pets are apart from their people, I understand how important it is to know your pets' caretaker is not only capable of providing the logistical support to keep your pet healthy while you are away, but that they genuinely care about your pet and their experience. In caring for your pet, I aim to provide you with the peace of mind that the furry piece of your heart you couldn't take with you is having a great time while you are away from home. I will learn your pets' routines and send regular updates to let you know how they are doing during your absence. I understand that animals are individuals, and what works for one dog/cat/other may not work for another. I have experience working with pets of a wide array of ages, energy levels, and medical needs, have experience managing intricate feeding and medication schedules, and have some experience administering (cat) insulin injections. If you have any questions, please ask away! As far as what I request from clients: If I will be staying in your home, clean bedding/towels are appreciated. Additionally, i am not likely to eat food you’ve left behind, so if something in your refrigerator or on your counter will expire before you return, you may wish to dispose of it before leaving. My job is currently remote as of the time I am writing this; so my care schedule for overnight stays can be somewhat flexible as long as you have a strong, secure WiFi. Additionally, I will need to stop home 1-2 times during the day most days to care for my own senior dog while their other parent is at work. This has not and should not cause a disruption for our stay, especially if you are located in (or within a short bus ride to/from) Capitol Hill or the Central District. I tend to be more of a night owl than an early bird. For walks and drop-in visits outside of overnight stays, I am generally available after 6:30pm on weekdays and after 1:30pm on weekends. Nobody knows your pets better than you, so I will follow your care instructions and take in anything else you think I should know about your best bud(s) during our time together.
The median cost per walk for dog walking in Central District is $25
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Central District
Michael did a great job taking care of my dog Kit while I was across the country. I had never used a service like Rover before, and was nervous initially, but after a couple days I was completely comfortable, and would absolutely utilize Michael’s services when I’m out of the country in the future!

Bret was so great with my girls! He came over a few days before to meet my dogs and see what needs to be done during his visit. He had great questions to be sure he provided exceptional care and you can tell he loved animals and they gravitate to him. His experience and knowledge with high energy and large dogs which made me feel so much more comfortable and excited to find someone I can trust with my girls! Will definitely be booking with Bret again!
