Pet care experience

Communicative, Reliable Pet Lover!

I grew up with big dogs and many friends have cats. I would love to have pets of my own one day, but for now I've settled for being the go-to pet sitter for friends and family! I am comfortable with dogs of all sizes and have lots of experience cat-sitting. I thoroughly enjoy the chance to hang out with some animals, to have a friend on a walk or to cuddle with on the couch. New opportunities (and pets!) are exciting to me so I'm happy to talk with you about caring for critters like rabbits, or animals with medical needs (ex. insulin injections). I'm great at following directions and would love to take care of your buddy :)

Safety, trust & environment

I can come care for your pets at your home, for a walk or to provide company to your pet for a time. It is nerve-wracking entrusting your pets and your home to someone so it is important to me to be a good steward of your space, leaving it as I found it. I value clarity, honesty, and integrity. For one time drop-ins and walks l can just show up day of. For extended or overnight jobs I require an in-person meeting to get to know you, your pet(s), and your space, and to ask detailed questions about pet and home care, expectations, boundaries, and other concerns that arise. Ongoing availability through text or email is appreciated in case questions crop up (ex, is it concerning if your pet doesn't eat a meal? Do I let the maintenance person in?) but try to keep it reasonable. I will communicate any issues honestly and promptly, and hope for the same forthright communication in return. I look forward to working with you and your pets!

Gabriel’s great and reliable. He’s managed to charm my shy and stubborn dog, which is impressive.

I really love working with Gabriel! Every time he saw my cat after a visit, he’d send a detailed message about how things went. He’s super easy to get in touch with too. I’ll definitely work with him again!

Gabriel has been great watching my Ms. Murphy for the last week and half. I was a little nervous as this was my longest trip from her but Gabriel was very communicative with her activities and how she was doing while I was away. She was even comfortable enough to let Gabriel groom her and she barely tolerated me to do that! Can’t recommend enough. Thank you!

Schedule

Pet-sitting is my full time role while applying to jobs. Services I offer are pet sitting in your home overnight or during the day/evening while you're out of the house; 30 or 60 minute check-ins; and 30 or 60 minute walks. I work on a first come, first serve basis, so only take jobs if I can reasonably handle them while fulfilling what I have already committed to. For example, while house-sitting a dog that can be alone 6 hours I may book a check-in with another pet, but would decline a request to stay with another pet through someone's eight hour workday. I do not cancel bookings just because a better-paying booking comes along - once I've committed to a job I stick to it, barring emergency. For house-sitting longer than 24 hours I only accept pets that can be left alone for at least 6 hours, preferably 8. This is to allow me to reasonably socialize, grocery shop, etc. with padding for delays. There could be some flexibility for 2-3 day bookings if you are okay with my friends coming over and/or me bringing your pet out and about with me. I am also open to discussing late-night check-ins or walks for overnight shift workers.

I am happy to learn about and work with any specific needs your pet has. I have experience giving medications, following specific instructions for getting an arthritic dog down a staircase, knowing which neighbor dog to avoid on our walk, and any number of other important details. You know your pet best and I am here to listen, ask questions, and take care of your pet as best as possible while you're away!
