“Josie was amazing and I would highly recommend her. I have a very shy 10 year old boxer. While he was a little standoff when she first arrived to meet him he did take a treat from her. When I left on my trip I quickly confirmed that he was in very good hands as I got daily updates with pictures and it looked like they had been long time friends. It was very comforting to see what they were up to each day and that he was getting some love. Josie stayed at my place and I was impressed with how clean everything was when I got home. I 100% trust her with my home and dog and plan to use her again in the future.”

“Wilma did an excellent job taking care of our home and our pets while we were away. She is a great communicator and sent lots of great photos and updates. Our pets loved her!”

“Olivia cared for my dog in our home who was experiencing an acute medical issue - he had herniated a disc in his back. She was so delightful and caring and I did not worry about my dog during our time away. I am very appreciative and have already booked with Olivia again! Clean, communicative, etc. Thank you so much!”

“thank you Bo! Floki (4month old kitten) was with her for a week. she took great care of him and followed our schedule with a bunch of updates including videos and pictures. I’m so glad Floki was in such good hands and I didn’t have to worry about him while we were gone. Bo has great attention to detail and compassion for our little guy. We will definitely book again, Highly recommend. :)”

“Georgia did a great job taking care of our pets while we were away for Christmas. It was our first time out of the country and I was very worried about leaving my babies, but Georgia made me feel at ease and was an excellent communicator. She sent pictures and updates every day. My babies took to her right away. We will definitely be asking Georgia to house/pet sit for us again!”

“Sanuthi did a fantastic job taking care of our cats and house while we were away. She thoroughly reviewed what we do for them and asked great questions, and I felt very comfortable leaving our cats and home in her care. She sent messages and pictures while we were away, and everything seemed to go smoothly! I would definitely hire her again!”

“Friendly and conscientious, fast and clear communication before/during/after, sent fun daily photos of our dogs relaxed and having fun with him, flexibly supported our schedule asks, and returned our home as tidy as we'd left it. Looking forward to using Toki's services again.”

“Justelle was an amazing in home overnight sitter for our dog. We were without service for two days while we were away and even though our dog is a little reactive I didn’t feel worried at all. Justelle still sent updates and pictures which were a joy to read once we got back to civilization. I’m glad to have found such a great sitter!”

“Jessie took excellent care of our two dogs and even watched over our ducklings! She left our house is great condition. We really appreciate how well she took care of everything while we were away! Will rebook in the future.”

“Shalindra was absolutely wonderful with our pup, Kahlua, while we were away. She went above and beyond in every way, even accommodating a last-minute flight delay and staying later than planned on her birthday to make sure Kahlua was cared for. We loved receiving daily updates and photos, and it was clear Kahlua had a great time with all of the park adventures and extra attention. When we returned, Kahlua was happy, freshly bathed, and our home was spotless. Shalindra was incredibly respectful of our house and treated both our dog and our home with so much care. We felt completely at ease knowing Kahlua was in such capable hands and would gladly trust Shalindra again in the future. Highly recommend!”

“Dale did an excellent job looking after Harvey. We really appreciated the thoughtful care and communication while we were away. 10/10 would recommend and rebook with Dale.”

“Awesome, kind, competent care for our two cats. Julia even got on good terms with our usually grumpy, reclusive, prima-donna cat! Her daily communications were just right in substance and tone.”

“Having Cynthia stay in our house to take care of our small and somewhat nervous dog while we were gone for 4 days was a great experience. Cynthia took excellent care of him, sent updates and photos, and left notes for our return. It was great to be able to enjoy our time away knowing he was being well cared for. And the house was very clean and tidy when we got back as well! I would highly recommend Cynthia!”

“Tina is an amazing and fantastic dogsitter! She was available at short notice and watched our 2 dogs over the Christmas break, and made sure they felt safe and secure since they have separation anxiety. She provided us with constant updates and photos, and faithfully administered medications while being mindful of our pets’ special needs. She is extremely trustworthy and reliable, and we highly recommend her to watch your companions. Five stars!”
“I’m a crazy dog mom so I’m always a bit weary to have someone new watch my dogs. The meet and great was helpful and he even showed me how he walks dogs (as my neighbors previously mentioned other sitters were not as nice). David made me feel so comforted knowing my house and boys were taken care of. I didn’t feel the need to “check-in” or make sure everything was OK as I was getting a perfect amount of updates with pictures. My boys went swimming, running and even to the dog park. I even came home to a clean house! Major bonus points. Best dog sitter I’ve used for far. Thanks so much, David!”
About: I’m Roh - a doctor-in-training, who is really just on here to spend more time with dogs & cats! I've taken care of friends' & family's dogs my whole life on & off - sometimes dogsitting, at other times walks, feeding them, quick potty breaks, and playing with them to keep them entertained. I am always so happy to be around furry friends & cannot wait to meet yours! I know I’m new on here & you might be nervous about that; I’m happy to do an in-person meet & greet where we can meet in a public space, I can meet your dog, and we can make sure we all get along! NOTE: I know my current rates are under market average. This is a new client promo, available for the next 3 months, while I set up here! I work full time Monday to Friday from 8 to 5 (rarely 6pm), but I’m available during the rest of the time. I think of myself as a great affordable fit for people going on short vacations or work trips, or if you just want an easy night in. On weekdays I can stop by early in the morning around 6:30-7am for a drop-in or a quick walk, followed by a longer walk in the evening with some playtime. On weekends I can dedicate a lot of my time to your pet! I can do up to 3 walks a day, if they prefer that. I am a big believer in respecting your residence. When petsitting, I keep things clean & will do my utmost best to leave your place as you left it! With your pet, I always try to strive for a mix of engagement & letting them chill, depending on their mood.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Mercer Island
Everything was wonderful! Elise went above and beyond cat/house sitting for us. Our house was spotless when we got home, making it much easier to crash after a long trip and not have to worry about anything. Lexi had plenty of lap time while we were gone, so well taken care of with plenty of snuggles!

Sam took great care of our kitty, Nemo, and left our house so clean. He was flexible with our travel plans and did his best to make sure Nemo had everything he needed over the holiday weekend. He also sent lots of photos which we loved! We really appreciated his care for Nemo, especially on such short notice.

Betsy was fantastic! She was taking care of two dogs and a cat for me, and everything about her care was top notch. The dogs got lots of walks and play time, and my kitty got lots of cuddling. She took excellent care of the house as well - including leaving it perfectly clean when I got home. I'm really impressed and very grateful!

Anna did an amazing job. She was very professional and had great communication. During our initial meet and greet we were able to clearly see her comfort level with dogs and house sitting. Photos and updates were spot on. House was well taken care of. Highly recommended.

I hesitate to leave such a great review as Jayce will then become so popular but it would be unfair to keep such a gem hidden! Jayce has extraordinary patience and could possibly be a dog whisperer. Don’t ever hesitate to book them. Incredible communication , empathy and did I mention PATIENCE ?❤️

Dahae did a great job with our pups Pickle and Kiwi! They can be territorial but they both warmed to her quickly. She was able to come over for a pre sit meet and greet and we knew right away she was going to be great! She left our apartment tidy and the pups happy! We got photos from her every day and felt comfortable having her stay. Would book her again for future pet sitting!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Mercer Island on Rover is $65 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 8,432 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Mercer Island. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mercer Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mercer Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mercer Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mercer Island. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
