“Vanessa was with our two dogs for a full week and did a wonderful job of caring for them! Communication was great and the dogs were happy and well cared for when we returned home. This is our second time with Vanessa and we feel lucky to have connected with her through Rover and will definitely request her services again!”

“Jen is amazing. She took great care of our dogs. Calming one down when I balloon landed in the back yard! She followed our instructions to the letter and even brought in our trash/recycling containers without being asked. She communicates and sends updates and pics, which we REALLY appreciate! We can enjoy our trips knowing Jen is with them!!!”

“Teresa takes amazing care of our kitties! 4 very energetic cats, 3 of them a specialty breed and all 4 with different foods and medication needs. We absolutely adore Teresa and her care for our kitties!!”

“Mikayla did a great job looking after our two knuckleheads. They started squabbling with each other while we were away unfortunately and Mikayla was great at letting us know what was happening and she was very competent at giving them the medication we had for them to help them cope with their seperation anxiety.”
“Marcea did a wonderful job watching our 11 month old Labrador Rottweiler mix puppy. He is over 100 pounds and has a lot of energy! He really liked her right away and very much enjoyed her company. She handled his teenage difficulties very well and had great communication. We’ll definitely book Marcea again!”

“Natalia is always great with a household of 3 pets. She caters to each individual’s needs and befriends everyone! She is super great with taking care of the space and brings in any boxes and mail for us while we are away. We get regular updates with videos and photos of our pets and we couldn’t be happier to have her help us!”

“Malia was great with Maverick. She was responsive and sent lots of pictures. Our pup needs medication at specific times and she was very on top of all his needs the entire time. Thanks for watching our home and pup while we were gone Malia!”

“Georgia was awesome caring for our three small dogs for four days on short notice. She quickly learned the pups' personalities and became their best friend. It was great knowing our house/dog sitter wasn't just a warm body keeping them fed, but was happy to be part of their daily routine. Her daily photos were creative and brought us joy while we were on vacation. I'll be eager to book Georgia again the next time we need a house/pet sitter!”
“Anna did a great job watching over our house and our dog Scout. She provided me with updates and pictures while I was away and texted information that was much appreciated during her stay. Our house was left in good order and our dog was happy and well cared for.”

“Brandi was absolutely wonderful! She had great energy, was communicative, kept me updated, and I came home to a happy dog. Highly recommend and would love to book with her again!”

“Lupita was a great sitter for us over the holidays! She wrangled our Australian shepherd, older cat, and new kitten with ease, and they all bonded with her quickly. She also took great care of our fish, and provided lots of photo updates of all pets. She was very clean and respectful while staying at our place! I will certainly be hiring Lupita again in the future.”

“Junbo is kind, reliable, and communicative. She took care of my dog and place for over a week. My 7 year old dog loved her from day 1. Junbo followed the care instructions I left, sent lots of photos, and was generous with her time, the long walks, and day adventures she took my dog on. On the way back, my dog looked happy and healthy, and my place was clean and well taken care of. I’m happy to have found a great sitter. Thank you for your great work, Junbo!”

“Janine did a great job watching our two dogs. She was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared about them. It gave us peace of mind knowing they were in good hands, and they were happy and well cared for when we got back. We’d definitely trust Janine to watch them again and highly recommend her.”

“★★★★★ Jisu was absolutely amazing! She stayed at our home to watch our two dogs and took such great care of them. We came back to happy pups and a spotless house. She sent regular updates, was super reliable, and clearly treated our dogs like her own. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter!”

“I don't think I've ever had a dog sitter be so dedicated to exercising and engaging with my very high energy dog. Every day I was getting reports and photos of the two of them out at the dog park, on a hiking adventure or having a playdate with his own dog. My neighbor even texted and said that they'd all gone to the dog park together. Fern can be a lot to handle for people who aren't experienced and/or serious dog lovers and I'm grateful to have found someone who actually has experience with working dogs and their needs. David also left Fern with extra treats too, which both of us love.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Newcastle
Chase was a fantastic sitter for our anxious Boxer Duke. We had a last-minute request, and her communication and accommodation were top notch. Our meet and greet the day of was effortless and comfortable, with Chase asking all the right questions and immediately bonding with our boy. We had to leave before her arrival, and she updated us both when she arrived and before she left.

Jen is amazing. She took great care of our dogs. Calming one down when I balloon landed in the back yard! She followed our instructions to the letter and even brought in our trash/recycling containers without being asked. She communicates and sends updates and pics, which we REALLY appreciate! We can enjoy our trips knowing Jen is with them!!!

Not only was Emily respectful, neat, and attentive with our home, but more importantly, she took exceptional care of Buzzy while we were away. It was clear from the start that she genuinely cared about his well-being and made sure he was comfortable, happy, and well looked after. We especially appreciated the regular updates and photos, which gave us peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy our time away knowing Buzzy was in great hands. Emily was reliable, communicative, and went above and beyond our expectations. We returned to a spotless home and a happy, healthy dog. We would not hesitate to have Emily house and dog sit for us again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter.

We ADORE Kayleigh. She is consistently the most caring caregiver we could ask for. She meets our pets’ unique needs, including a senior dog, our finicky saltwater fish, etc. Kayleigh is a gem who is truly interested in our animals, our house, and any possible way she can help. We cannot speak more highly of this woman. Thank you thank you!!

Katie was seriously the best. 🥹 It was so clear how much she genuinely loved spending time with Indi, and that gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She kept us updated, gave Indi so much love and attention, and treated her like she was her own. We came home to a happy, relaxed pup, which says everything. You can tell Katie truly loves animals, and we’re so grateful we found her. Looking forward to rebooking again in a heartbeat and honestly can’t recommend her enough. Thank you, Katie! ❤️

Teresa did a great job taking care of our 4 legged family member. She sent pictures, wrote about his day to us, and in a couple words - she cared. She cared about our dog-child as if he was her own, which gave us peace of mind. On our return, we found that she also took very good care of our home too.

Nicole was wonderful with our two sensitive, high energy dobies. They can be slow to warm up to new people. Nicole was fantastic! She did a meet and greet with us to ensure it was a good fit. She was attentive to all our needs while we were away. We will definitely have Nicole back again to care for our pets!

Stacey stayed with Bodhi for 2 weeks while we were traveling. She was great with him - they immediately connected during the meet and greet (he can be shy with some people, but took to her right away). She sent pics and updates while we were traveling. Stacey was the perfect sitter for us and I cannot recommend her enough. Will definitely seek to use her services again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Newcastle walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Newcastle maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newcastle choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
