I recently had Mackenzie care for my four cats over a 6-day period, and I couldn't be more impressed. She went above and beyond in every way: Reliability & Responsibility: Mackenzie stayed on top of all the essentials; fresh food and water daily, spotless litter boxes, and consistent care throughout her visits. Communication & Peace of Mind: What really set her apart was the amazing pictures she sent! Getting regular updates with photos of my cats playing, napping, and enjoying themselves made the time away so much easier. It's clear she genuinely cares about keeping pet parents informed and reassured. Genuine Affection: Beyond the basics, Mackenzie gave my cats attention and affection. She played with them, petted them, and treated them like they were her own. Overall Mackenzie is exactly what you want in a pet sitter: responsible, caring, communicative, and trustworthy. My four cats are already looking forward to her next visit, and so am I! I will absolutely be booking Mackenzie again. If you're looking for someone to care for your cats with professionalism and genuine love, she's your person.

Jana is the best! I am a cat-sitter myself and a very overprotective cat mom. She has been amazing the two times she has watched my two cats for a week, sending lots of photos and wonderful detailed updates. Most importantly my cats love her, they are both playful and love petting and Jana makes sure to give them plenty of attention to keep them happy. I will continue to refer others to her and book her whenever my kitties need someone to take care of them.

About: I've taken care of my family's dogs since I was 10, as well as the many different dogs (and puppies) we fostered over the years. I've also had some experience caring for my family's two cats (including one very talkative Bengal) for 5ish years. Some of my close friends and neighbors have also entrusted me with caring for their furry friends, including feeding, walking, and generally caring for and about them. I'm a part-time worker and student with a variable but fairly flexible schedule! I’d love to spend time with your furry friends—whether it’s walks, playtime, or house sitting. I'm happy to give your pet the love and attention they deserve! I tailor my care to each pet’s needs and your preferences. For pet sitting in your home, I: - Usually follow your pet’s routine for feeding, walks, and playtime to keep them comfortable and happy. - I'm happy to provide updates, photos, or messages so you can stay in the loop. - Ensure a safe, calm, and stress-free environment—whether it’s a quick visit or an overnight stay.

About: My goal is to provide a dog care experience like no other! With experience in basic dog training coupled with my deep love for animals, I bring a unique blend of skills and qualities to the table. My patience, trustworthiness, and empathy make me a reliable caretaker for your beloved family members. Having navigated mixed experiences on this platform myself, I understand the importance of finding a sitter who not only possesses the necessary expertise but also offers a sense of security and comfort. It's this understanding that drives me to provide exceptional care for every dog entrusted to me. I'm equipped to handle a variety of behavioral needs and ensure your dog feels safe and comfortable in my care. Whether it's teaching basic commands or addressing specific behavioral issues, I approach every interaction with compassion and understanding. I am currently restricting my day care and boarding services to dogs between 25 and 100 pounds. Explanation of prices: I spend significant time and energy into providing exceptional care and attention pets during all of my services. My prices reflect this dedication. I recently left my last office role and have decided to make a positive difference on this platform. I’ve found the services provided on here have been a hit or miss and hope to be able to provide consistent and reliable pet care for my clients for the safety of the pet and peace of mind for their owners. I have a fenced in yard and a 6 year old mutt my wife and I rescued. He is well trained and disciplined. Given his size (80lbs), out of an abundance of caution, I will not be taking any dogs under 20lbs.

Entrusting someone to care for our pets takes a lot of courage and trust, especially if your pet has a particular set of needs and structure. After reading through A LOT of sitter profiles, Marcea stood out the most to us as someone we felt could be a good fit. Our 9yrs old bloodhound had a rough start in life, and came to me at 2yrs old as an anxious, leash-aggressive, separation anxiety, osteo-arthritic, quirky dog. Through behavioral training and medication management, his life is more calm and stable, but he requires structure, routine, and calm patient love and understanding. After a combining households move that put our dog hanging at home alone 3 days a week, I knew we needed to hire someone for drop-in visits. Enter Marcea. Our slow-to-trust anxious boy took to Marcea instantly! She is so kind and calm and loving with him, he looks so much happier after work on scheduled drop-ins. And when the trash can got left in the kitchen and our dog, true to his bloodhound nature, needed to investigate and eat the fine trash can delicacies, Marcea instantly sprung into action. She contacted us immediately out of concern for our pup and his safety, and luckily there wasn’t anything in the garbage that was life threatening, but what a relief she was there (and she cleaned up the mess without any complaint or chastising). If you, like me, have a pup with quirks and anxiety and leaving them alone or with a new person makes you nervous and alters your lifestyle, do yourself a favor and hire Marcea. She is a calming balm for both pets and pet parents.

About: I have been taking care of my cat since he was a small kitten. I have a lot of empathy and compassion towards animals and consider my cats some of my best friends. My cousin will be joining me for my Rover journey. I dog sit his dogs- 16 years old, 1 year old, and 3 months old. My cousin only feeds his dogs the best, raw food and lets them play outside a lot. Together we make a team I am on summer break from college so my schedule is very flexible. I can work around your schedule and am available every week day. Tuesday and Friday evenings, I am available before 5:00 pm. I typically let dogs go outside for the bathroom about every 30 minutes. I make sure their water is full and they are fed on time.

About: I’m a huge animal lover and have been around pets my whole life! I currently have a cat who is genuinely my whole life, so I completely understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet. I also grew up with english bulldogs, so I’m very comfortable with dogs, including energetic ones who need lots of walks, playtime, and attention. I’m patient, reliable, and will always treat your pets like they’re my own. I work during the week, but I have plenty of availability before and after work, in the evenings, and on weekends. I’m happy to fit pet care into my routine and work around your pet’s usual schedule as much as possible! I’ll be caring for pets in their own home, so I’ll always follow any routines and instructions you leave for me. I’ll make sure doors and gates are secure, respect your home, and keep your pet safe and comfortable. I know how much trust it takes to have someone care for your pet, so I’ll treat them with the same care and attention I’d want for my own.

About: My experience includes fostering senior dogs with special needs, raising and training our own standard poodle, walking a variety of dogs with unique traits and proclivities. During house sits I have a quiet routine and would spend most of my time sitting with your pet doing my quiet activities aside from playtime and long walks. I enjoy exploring new trails and am happy to keep to your pet’s familiar routines too. I am experienced in delivering medications and special diets at home. I leave your home cleaner than I found it, practicing ‘leave no trace’. I currently focus on pursuing interests via reading, writing, cooking, painting, and creating botanical perfumes and essential oil blends for friends and family. Playing with my 4 leggeds at home and caring for your beloved pets balances exercise and playful engagement with my solo activities. I am reliable, communicate with words and photos, and will get to know your pet very well. I like to focus on your pets’ needs and spread my time around their care.

About: I have taken care of many different types of rescued, owned dogs and cats. I had black, short haired, 12 years old chihuahua “Melo.” She is an angel in dog heaven and taught me how to be a great companion to animals. I can take them out for walk anytime as long as they got leash. Also lots of cuddling. I am working from home, so my schedule is open most of the day, prefers weekdays but can do on weekends depends on the schedule. I prefer to take care of your pets at your home since I do think it will be more comfortable for them to stay at where they are more comfortable with.

Sherry is awesome. We just moved from out of state and have a pretty old dog not used to this climate. He was scared when we left him, and we have always boarded him in the past so he was quite difficult. Sherry was patient, and over 2-3 DAYS of feeding a growling, snapping dog she saw kobe turn back into the cool old dog he normally is. I can’t say enough how easy and patient she has been with a tough situation.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mercer Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.

To find sitters in Mercer Island with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mercer Island. On Rover:

  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
