“Honey looked after our poodle Henni for the afternoon through evening and took great care of her. She was very professional, taking time to really learn about Henni and her habits, schedule, and temperament before we left. We really appreciate her help!”

“Bradley and Carolyn were fantastic sitters for Rocky. They kept him super active and entertained all three days of daycare, and Rocky came home very happy and tired each evening. Their location was super convenient for travelers staying or visiting in downtown Santa Barbara. Will definitely use again!”

“I can't recommend Sandy enough. We were in a bind needing a last-minute sitter, and she was incredibly responsive and flexible. She made the logistics simple. My fiancé had no trouble at all coordinating drop-off and pick-up. While we were away, she sent photo updates that showed our dog relaxed and happy. When we picked him up, he was clearly well-cared for and in great spirits. Sandy truly saved the day. Thank you!”

“Damian did a great job watching over our two little ones! He provided plenty of updates during their stay and we felt like we could relax while they were in his care. Bella and Duncan came back tired out which is exactly what we were hoping for. Highly recommend Damian if you are looking for a playdate for your pup! Looking forward to using him again 🙂”

“Jacob and his wife are wonderful to work with. They cared for our Bella, and sent us pictures and updates throughout the day. This is our 2nd time working together and we highly recommend them!”

About: I work from home, so your dog is never alone for long. My fenced yard means safe outdoor play every day, and regular photo updates mean you'll actually be able to relax on your trip. I have a special needs dog of my own, so I have a particular soft spot for dogs that need a little extra care, but I'm equally comfortable with puppies, seniors, anxious dogs, and medication administration. I know exactly how much trust you're placing in me, and I don't take that lightly. Your dog gets a real home, real attention, and a lot of love. I work from home full time, which means your dog has company throughout the day rather than waiting for someone to come home. Walks, yard time, and cuddles fit naturally into my routine, I'm not squeezing pet care around a commute or office hours. Gladly have your pet a part of my day. My home is fully fenced, so outdoor time is always safe and supervised. Inside, dogs are welcome wherever they're most comfortable.. on the sofa, in the bedroom, wherever helps them settle in. I follow each owner's instructions closely, including crating if that's part of their dog's routine. I'll always ask about your dog's habits, triggers, and preferences before your stay so there are no surprises for either of us.
About: I have been around and cared for dogs since I was in middle school. I have a deep care for dogs and believe giving them the absolute best life while they are with us is the only way to engage with them. I have a knack for training, it somewhat comes natural to me and I have the patience for it. Im happy to work with your dog to either reinforce or teach commands/tricks. Recently, I left my corporate job. I am taking time off to assess my next career move. Which means I have wide open flexibility and need to take walks to keep thinking. What a better way to do that than to have a walking companion! I do not have pets which means all of my attention goes to yours! There are two couches, a bed and a patio for your babe to enjoy. I am available around the clock to play, walk, teach.
“We are from out of the area but going to a concert a The Bowl. Last minute, we decided to find a babysitter for our very busy Portuguese Water Dog. Ryan accommodated both us and our dog in every way possible. His communication was outstanding and his love for dogs and their happiness was a dream for us. I would not hesitate to have Leo over there again. He lives in a very convenient location, right in Santa Barbara and his home was safe and secure. Thank you Ryan. We all hope to see you again soon. Thank you!”

“McKensay was amazing with Phoenix! She shared pictures and updates throughout the day and exercised her multiple times - Phoenix didn’t want to leave! I would 10/10 recommend McKensay for doggy daycare”

“Tory was wonderful caring for our Hans! He is a little shy/timid at first but he warmed up to her really quickly. I felt at ease having such a calming presence to care for Hans!”

“Lauren was so great to work with...she responded to the daycare request promptly and immediately jumped into asking lots of questions around Remys care. I knew he'd be in good hands. Thank you for the care Lauren...”

“I was nervous to leave my dog alone with someone but Stacey was great! She communicated well and sent a picture of my dog, he was not with her for very long but she still was able to squeeze in a good walk that tired my energetic boy. He was in really good hands”

“Courtney took great care of my two anxious little rescue pups! I could tell they had a relaxing time staying with her, which is no small thing, since they tend to get very nervous with a new sitter. I would definitely use Courtney’s services again.”

Join the Woof Pack! You won't be disappointed.
“Fantastic! Thats how I would describe our experience with Haven as our dog sitter for the day. Drop off and pick up were smooth and easy. She was responsive to initial outreach to schedule (even though it was last minute AND Valentines Day!) and gave updates throughout the day while caring for my pup. The little guy was exhausted from all the love and attention and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for help. We look forward to having her care for him again.”

“Monica was great! She was available and responsive on super short notice and was very flexible when we needed to push our drop off time back. And most importantly of all, she took great care of our pups and made sure to send us several photo-filled updates over the course of the afternoon. Definitely would book with Monica again!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Santa Barbara
Angelin was so great with my goofy but super anxious dog Carl. I was worried about leaving him at a new place with a new person, but when we met Angelin, I felt totally comfortable about it. She has the most warm, calm energy and Carl was totally happy to hang out with her. She’s also really communicative and easy to work with. We had a great experience and will definitely reach out to her in the future.

I can't recommend Sandy enough. Thank you!

Your pup will be in great hands with Ryan! We loved seeing updates throughout the day of our dog having fun with other dogs in the backyard. It was also great to know there are multiple outdoor and indoor areas if the dogs needed space from each other. We were relaxed because we knew she was being well cared for and she came home happy and tired after a big day of fun.

Megan was AMAZING! Very attentive and accommodating. Our concert was late to start and she was ok with keeping our puppy later than we had originally expected. We really appreciated her willingness to keep our fur baby safe and happy! Definitely recommend! Wonderful family! Thanks Megan!

I’m so grateful for Vivian & Taylor helping me out with Max. And it was a huge plus that my dog got to have a play date with Daisy! Communication was easy and clear. I had to make a last minute modification in my schedule & they were accommodating. They asked if Max had any special medical needs & let me see their home & backyard. I loved the updates—they sent photos & videos and I could tell Max was truly having a blast. I would highly recommend & would definitely book again!

This was our first time using Rover and we were a little hesitant about the whole process especially since our fur baby is timid and sometimes anxious. However, Saychelle was very sweet, communicative, and accommodating and quickly put me at ease. From the moment my husband dropped her off, we knew she was the perfect fit. If we are ever in the Santa Barbara area again, Saychelle will be our go to dog sitter.

Joshua is super friendly and even offered us tips on what to do in Santa Barbara, and which restaurants were dog friendly. He was very good with our dog Cocoa, and I don't think she even noticed that we were gone! We really appreciated Joshua's flexibility in terms of timing for the doggy daycare and would use him again if we were back in Santa Barbara.

Tonka often gets nervous around new people, but when meeting Tory, she immediately walked up to her for pets, heading straight up the stairs and into Tory's apartment. We could tell from all of the photos Tory shared that Tonka was super happy and content in her company. We'd have no hesitation booking Tory again.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Santa Barbara commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
