Jake is a wonderful dogsitter and Jett is a great buddy for my dog, Gaia. Gaia can be unpredictable with new dogs, and Jake was very accommodating as we got the two dogs acquainted. Now Gaia loves going to play with Jett. And Jake makes it easy - he’s conscientious, super responsive, and easy to work with. Highly recommend!

About: I believe that all pets should experience living life and doing fun activities that we all do! I grew up with pets my whole life, having 2 dogs and 2 cats. What inspired me to begin my journey on this app is from when I volunteered at my local shelter to foster huskies, ranging from a day trip to week long care. I like to plan fun activities in advance with the pets to do throughout the day/weeks, which can be a fun stroll to the beach to collect seashells, going to downtown, and meeting new people at events (such as the farmers markets, makers markets, and more)! I make sure they are under the best possible care while still having fun :) I’m a current student, so I would appreciate if services are scheduled in advance. At the same time, I’m overall pretty flexible and tailors to clients needs. This can be scheduling, pricing, and instructions! I’m pretty flexible! Something as easy as dog walking or drop-ins I can basically do any time, but dog/ cat sitting needs a bit more preparation. Being a student, sometimes things can come up last minute. When given instructions, I am pretty on top of it. Any requests I would be more than happy to accommodate. No need to be afraid to ask questions! I listen to instructions well.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs and cats my whole life. Animals have always been a big part of my world, and I feel a very deep and natural connection with them. I have a soft spot for pets who need extra love and patience, including blind dogs, and I always make sure they feel safe, understood, and at peace. I also offer gentle Reiki for animals if they need extra calm, balance, or emotional support. Because I work online, I can spend the whole day with your pet—keeping them company, giving them lots of love, and making sure they always feel safe and cared for. I truly love what I do and treat every animal as if they were my own, with kindness, calm energy, and lots of affection. I work online, which allows me to spend the whole day caring for your pet. Your furry friend will have constant companionship, attention, and supervision throughout the day, ensuring they feel safe, loved, and happy while you’re away. I create a safe, calm, and loving environment for every pet in my care. Whether at my home or yours, I make sure their space is comfortable, secure, and stress-free. I supervise pets at all times, provide gentle guidance, and respect their individual needs and personalities. Your furry friend will always feel loved, safe, and cared for while you’re away.

Amber was great! In the 12 hours my golden retriever was with her, they went on multiple walks and she was exhausted by the time we got home (that’s a good thing). They were even walking when I arrived to pick her up! Super sweet, lots of photos that we loved seeing. I highly recommend!

Brittany is an outstanding dig sitter for anyone. Along with being very responsible and professional, she has a great personality and is considerate of the needs of pet owners. Her dog Rio got along very well with my dog Kenzo and kept him entertained all day. 5 stars for sure; I hope to be rebooking with Brittany soon!

About: What sets me apart is a lifetime of genuine experience with dogs at every stage of life. I raised my two dogs from puppyhood all the way through their senior years, which means I’m comfortable with the energy and needs of young pups as well as the patience and extra care that older dogs require. I also grew up with a dog and have always shared a natural bond with animals. On top of that, I have experience fostering dogs from a shelter, so I know how to help pets feel safe and settled in a new environment. This isn’t just a side gig for me, caring for animals is something I’ve always done and truly love. As a college student working part time, my schedule is flexible enough to give your pet the time and attention they deserve! Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, meaning your furry friend won’t just be an afterthought between a packed schedule. I have plenty of availability throughout the day to ensure your pet is getting regular walks, playtime, feeding, and cuddles. You can feel confident knowing your pet will be well looked after and never left alone for long stretches! I have a fully fenced yard, so your pet has plenty of safe space to run around and explore! I’m happy to adapt to whatever routine and environment your pet is most comfortable with, whether that’s roaming freely around the home, spending time in a crate, or a mix of both. Your pet’s comfort and happiness are my priority, so just let me know what works best for them and I’ll make sure to keep things consistent with what they’re used to at home!

Thank you for taking excellent care of Winnie while I attended a wedding! She clearly enjoyed her time with you and your son. I love that you prioritized her comfort on a very hot day, let her hang out on your bed, and accepted my absurd amount of dog supplies that I handed you at drop-off. I appreciate that after it became clear your dog was a bit much for her (un-neutered and a little too boy-ish), you kept them separate. Would re-book if I came back to the area and needed help in the future!

We are so happy we connected with Tricia to watch our dog. She is very responsive, calm, and friendly. You can tell she truly cares about dogs and cares for them as if they were her own. Her and her family have a heart for dogs and it really showed in their interactions with our pet. Our dog was always so happy when he first saw her at drop-off and instantly connected with the entire family. We will definitely be using Tricia again in the future and highly recommend her to anyone!

I needed dog care for a day at the last minute and found Lara was great to work with as a first-time Rover user. I appreciated her friendliness, patience, and flexibility. She was great with communication too. I suspected my dog would be sad while her people were gone but Lara seemed to try her best to be as accommodating as possible. I felt confident in leaving my fur baby with her and highly recommend her services.

Jennifer is wonderful! She took Ziggy to the beach then gave her a bath! She was able to dedicate her time and attention to my young puppy because she was not caring for other dogs at the time. I highly recommend Jen for any dog parents who need care. I will definitely be calling her back.

I can’t begin to explain how grateful I am to have met Marty and Lynn. They were so accommodating and even flexible with some last-minute changes. My boy, Todd, was in absolute paradise in their lush backyard. They are so generous to open it up for daycare. I love seeing photos throughout the day of Todd’s relaxing day in their special care. We booked 2 dog sitting days, back to back and the second day when I dropped Todd off he was PULLING so excited to be back! I wish I lived closer and could have Todd see them all the time! They are fabulous dog people and I can’t wait for the next time we are in Santa Barbara.

About: I have 10+ years of paid experience (and a lifetime without pay as I'm an avid pet owner) with many kinds of animals and life stages. I have extensive experience with reptiles, amphibians, freshwater fish, rats, mice, hamsters, birds, cats and dogs. Additionally, I am versed in hand feeding baby birds, general wound care, and K9 anal gland expression. I have rehabilitated and adopted out 4 dogs since the lockdown and find a lot of joy in K9 training and behavior modification. I work remotely from home which makes my schedule very flexible. That being said, just like our pets, I thrive off routine and will try to schedule pet care accordingly. If you have a weird request, please ask! I like to make things work :) I believe creating a positive environment for animals is critical. Animals cannot thrive when they are stressed, living in fear, or improperly cared for. For these reasons, I strive to know the individual and move at a pace appropriate for their needs. There is no stronger bond than one built on trust. Additionally, I clean up messes quickly and put much effort into animal husbandry and play.

About: I love pets every since I was a kid I’ve always had one and taken good care for them because they mean soo much to me and will always be my number 1 friend! Dog sitting and care for pets will always have time for me in any routine that am in because of the passion and love I have for them. My favorite part of my schedule is taking the dogs out for a walk, hike, or play around the park, or take them out for runs. I care for them like any other human I feed, care, love, and adore them. I take them out 3 times a day one in the morning, afternoon, and at night to walk, or use the bathroom, or any other type of requirements needed.

FAQs for Doggy Day Care - Capitan

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of June 2026, there are 220 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Capitan. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Capitan commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 220 sitters in Capitan, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
