“Jake is a wonderful dogsitter and Jett is a great buddy for my dog, Gaia. Gaia can be unpredictable with new dogs, and Jake was very accommodating as we got the two dogs acquainted. Now Gaia loves going to play with Jett. And Jake makes it easy - he’s conscientious, super responsive, and easy to work with. Highly recommend!”

About: What sets me apart is a lifetime of genuine experience with dogs at every stage of life. I raised my two dogs from puppyhood all the way through their senior years, which means I’m comfortable with the energy and needs of young pups as well as the patience and extra care that older dogs require. I also grew up with a dog and have always shared a natural bond with animals. On top of that, I have experience fostering dogs from a shelter, so I know how to help pets feel safe and settled in a new environment. This isn’t just a side gig for me, caring for animals is something I’ve always done and truly love. As a college student working part time, my schedule is flexible enough to give your pet the time and attention they deserve! Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, meaning your furry friend won’t just be an afterthought between a packed schedule. I have plenty of availability throughout the day to ensure your pet is getting regular walks, playtime, feeding, and cuddles. You can feel confident knowing your pet will be well looked after and never left alone for long stretches! I have a fully fenced yard, so your pet has plenty of safe space to run around and explore! I’m happy to adapt to whatever routine and environment your pet is most comfortable with, whether that’s roaming freely around the home, spending time in a crate, or a mix of both. Your pet’s comfort and happiness are my priority, so just let me know what works best for them and I’ll make sure to keep things consistent with what they’re used to at home!
“I can’t begin to explain how grateful I am to have met Marty and Lynn. They were so accommodating and even flexible with some last-minute changes. My boy, Todd, was in absolute paradise in their lush backyard. They are so generous to open it up for daycare. I love seeing photos throughout the day of Todd’s relaxing day in their special care. We booked 2 dog sitting days, back to back and the second day when I dropped Todd off he was PULLING so excited to be back! I wish I lived closer and could have Todd see them all the time! They are fabulous dog people and I can’t wait for the next time we are in Santa Barbara.”

About: I believe that all pets should experience living life and doing fun activities that we all do! I grew up with pets my whole life, having 2 dogs and 2 cats. What inspired me to begin my journey on this app is from when I volunteered at my local shelter to foster huskies, ranging from a day trip to week long care. I like to plan fun activities in advance with the pets to do throughout the day/weeks, which can be a fun stroll to the beach to collect seashells, going to downtown, and meeting new people at events (such as the farmers markets, makers markets, and more)! I make sure they are under the best possible care while still having fun :) I’m a current student, so I would appreciate if services are scheduled in advance. At the same time, I’m overall pretty flexible and tailors to clients needs. This can be scheduling, pricing, and instructions! I’m pretty flexible! Something as easy as dog walking or drop-ins I can basically do any time, but dog/ cat sitting needs a bit more preparation. Being a student, sometimes things can come up last minute. When given instructions, I am pretty on top of it. Any requests I would be more than happy to accommodate. No need to be afraid to ask questions! I listen to instructions well.
“Cara was wonderful. She treated our dog like it was her own - with love, care, and attention. We got frequent updates and pictures so our minds were at ease. If we are ever in need again, Cara will be our first choice.”

“Bert loves his stay with Alejandre’s family! He pal’d around with their dog Churro, and got to go in to town to see the sights. All smiles when I came to pick him up, and in no hurry to leave his new friends; Bert was tuckered out and slept so well!”

“Sholeh is very calm, attentive, and knows about dogs. My 10 month old golden retriever is timid at new places and still gets overstimulated on walks sometimes. Sholeh handled him patiently and positively. She also asked before offering the treats she prepared. She offered meet and greet before the sitting and really tried to know my dog. She read my dog’s profile and care instructions beforehand and remembered it. She always responded within a few minutes. She communicated well, she noticed any smallest discomfort in my dog, communicated with me and took great care of my dog. Overall, highly recommended.”

About: I've always loved animals. I have two dogs of my own. As a dog walker, I am careful and put safety first, as I do with my own dogs. I am detailed oriented so if you give me specific directions, I'm going to execute accordingly. I am patient and flexible and respond well to the unexpected. I am reliable and hold my word with the utmost integrity. I practice positive reinforcement when working with dogs. I believe in the importance of dog socialization and regular exercise and think that long walks are so important. While we all have jobs, I'm excited to help you relieve any anxiety and give your doggy the care and attention she/he needs. I look forward to sharing my love with your doggy companion! <3 I have two dogs (a large and a medium size dog) but am in Santa Barbara working toward a PhD so my doggies are at home in San Francisco with my partner. On the upside, I have very flexible schedule, lots of love and care to give to dogs, and lots of experience with working with dogs! My home is dog friendly. My first dog used to live in Santa Barbara with me but once we got our second dog, we decided to keep them in San Francisco, where they have more space. I am a PhD student, therefore my apartment's size is proportionate with my meager PhD income. But, I live right next to beach and trail access. I also have a car with dog friendly seatbelt to take dogs to farther parks and hikes. I have a love for all animals, and treat all animals with care and attention. This is the same attention I will give to your pet. I'm used to active dogs, dogs needing medical care or strict schedule, anxious dogs, and am always willing to learn on the job!
“Brad and Carolyn took great care of Annabel for a week. She is a cautious, nervous dog but she was clearly very comfortable with Brad and Carolyn. She will be back!”

About: I have 10+ years of paid experience (and a lifetime without pay as I'm an avid pet owner) with many kinds of animals and life stages. I have extensive experience with reptiles, amphibians, freshwater fish, rats, mice, hamsters, birds, cats and dogs. Additionally, I am versed in hand feeding baby birds, general wound care, and K9 anal gland expression. I have rehabilitated and adopted out 4 dogs since the lockdown and find a lot of joy in K9 training and behavior modification. I work remotely from home which makes my schedule very flexible. That being said, just like our pets, I thrive off routine and will try to schedule pet care accordingly. If you have a weird request, please ask! I like to make things work :) I believe creating a positive environment for animals is critical. Animals cannot thrive when they are stressed, living in fear, or improperly cared for. For these reasons, I strive to know the individual and move at a pace appropriate for their needs. There is no stronger bond than one built on trust. Additionally, I clean up messes quickly and put much effort into animal husbandry and play.
About: I really really love this job as it’s not only about the compensation but is truly about the love for the pet and care too This fits into my daily schedule because I have a lot of flexibility within my schedule to bond and to provide activities for your pet(s)! Plus I love animals all around! If the dog is invited to my home, my family is very loving and supportive and more attention too or vice versa within their home
“Jennifer is wonderful! She took Ziggy to the beach then gave her a bath! She was able to dedicate her time and attention to my young puppy because she was not caring for other dogs at the time. I highly recommend Jen for any dog parents who need care. I will definitely be calling her back.”

About: I’ve taken care of my oldest dog since I was 10 and my younger dog sing I was 17. I always enjoy, walking, feeding and playing with them. In the mornings before I eat breakfast I will feed my dogs and change their water. In the afternoon I will play with them and let them rest. In the evening I walk them and when I get back I feed them again. I have two dogs that are very friendly with people and other dogs. They always enjoy playing with other dogs. I have water bowls for the dogs outside and inside incase they get thirsty, and I have dog toys for them to play with. My yard is fenced so the dogs are able to round around without being able to go into the street.
“I was nervous to leave my dog alone with someone but Stacey was great! She communicated well and sent a picture of my dog, he was not with her for very long but she still was able to squeeze in a good walk that tired my energetic boy. He was in really good hands”

About: I’ve owned and cared for pets over the course of my entire life. Dogs are my love and bring such joy into my world. I have always had a natural born connection that cannot really be explained. It’s a magnetism and I’m drawn to them as much as they are to me :). I have a deep understanding and knowledge of a variety of health issues that dogs commonly have including bone, joint, heart, GI issues and dietary restrictions. I’ve experienced quite a bit over the course of my life personally caring for dogs with these issues including blindness & deafness, injuries. I’m mature enough and a mom myself to confidently say that your family would be treated as my own would. I have also cared for and owned a variety of birds, fish, reptiles, bunnies, guinea pigs, chinchilla and then some! ;). Your animals would be loved as my own! Happy to do overnight care on somewhat short notice as well. Live in the Mission canyon area and have a gated yard with space for sun bathing and potty breaks/lizard chasing ;). Reliable car, DL, Insurance etc. - open to running errands, helping around the house (can discuss rate). My schedule is flexible and I’m available for boarding as well overnight with a little notice ahead of time. No problem with house sitting I have a gated yard and no pets. Nice neighborhood with friendly neighbors with dogs that enjoy each other. Local trails close by and the Riviera Theater close and other nice doggy friendly locations!
“This was my first time using rover and leaving my dog for day sitting. Last minute our sitter couldn’t watch our dog, so we brought her with us on our trip to Santa Barbara. We wanted to explore, but did not want to leave her in a motel room, so we looked for a doggie daycare. Honey was responsive and took our dog in last minute. Even on a holiday weekend. I was nervous about my dog having anxiety, but Honey was very friendly and communicated throughout the day to keep me posted about my dog’s day. She is excellent with animals and has a kind nature that dogs can sense. My dog was comfortable and she even got her to eat! Which is something my dog does not do when she’s away from home. Thank you Honey for opening your home to our Roxy.”

Eliana was amazing with Rusty and Mia. She was very responsive when we sent questions, loved on our pups, sent us pictures during their stay. Mia LOVED her stay so much she didn’t want to leave Eliana’s place and hid under her coffee table when we got there to pick them up. We highly recommend Eliana and will gladly leave both with her if needed in the future.

Sydney helped us out take care of our girl while we attended our baby shower. I would have brought Luna but dogs weren’t allowed in the hall. I can tell Luna had a blast in Sydney care & was a happy girl, she had her own party with good company! You can tell Sydney loves animals & my fuzzy girl came back happy & content

I needed dog care for a day at the last minute and found Lara was great to work with as a first-time Rover user. I appreciated her friendliness, patience, and flexibility. She was great with communication too. I suspected my dog would be sad while her people were gone but Lara seemed to try her best to be as accommodating as possible. I felt confident in leaving my fur baby with her and highly recommend her services.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
