“Jordan was awesome! She took great care of our puppy over the weekend. She sent cute and thoughtful updates and pics of all the fun things they did together. We picked up a happy and sleepy dog. Would definitely hire Jordan again!”

“Alani and Erika took such great care of my two dogs! They were so accommodating for them both and kept in great contact while I was out of town. I will definitely be using them again! My dogs loved them so much!”

“Erin and Dave are amazing!! They sent lots of pictures and videos, and took care of my girl like she was their own. I would recommend them to anyone and will absolutely book with them in the future!”

“Erin did a wonderful job watching Islay while we were out of town! I appreciated regular updates and Islay seemed very happy and well taken care of. Erin was also flexible and helpful when our flights got delayed! We would definitely book with Erin again in the future.”

“Awesome sitter! Definitely will book again in the future. Compared to most sitters, I could definitely tell from pictures of his stay that my pup was much happier with Miyu! She was able to provide him with the perfect amount of attention.”

“Lena was great. She sent pictures during the stay and Koda seemed to have really enjoyed himself. We did a meet and greet before to discuss expectations and communication was great.”

“I don’t have enough words to describe how great Savannah and her husband Brent were to my baby Lucy. They are the sweetest people, communicated so well! I could tell Lucy was in the best hands! Their little baby Pongo is also the cutest!! 100% recommend!! We will definitely be booking again!! Thank you!!”

“Teri was really great with Olive! We had a meet and greet first, and I could tell right away that Olive would be very happy staying with Teri. The sit went well, and I received photos and updates to let me know my girl was happy! Easily a 5 star experience. Thanks, Teri!!”

“Julie and Greg provided amazing care for our young high energy hound during his first-ever experience with a sitter. They sent photos and updates every day. Not only did they give him plenty of exercise, play, and affection, they worked with him on some problem behaviors/doggie-manner-deficits during his stay with them. I could not recommend more highly.”

“Cathy was awesome, and our dog had a blast staying with her. She made sure our dog felt comfortable, ate well, and played every day. I would definitely choose her again.”

“Kimberlee was really great with my dog Izzy. Izzy is an older lady and has various issues. Kimberlee was still willing to work with her and took great care of her. Her backyard was great for exploring. I also got daily updates and photos which were much appreciated!”

“Katrin did a wonderful job taking care of our pup. Her space is perfect for taking care of pups and she clearly loves dogs. She was great about getting her plenty of walks and sent lots of pictures and videos.”

“Lady had a wonderful time playing at Aubrey's house! Aubrey was available to talk to me and responded quickly whenever I texted her. She even sent me pictures! Thanks so much Aubrey - we will definitely be using her again! :)”

“Emily and William are amazing! They are so welcoming and take great care of our dog. Kodi loves staying with them and his best friend Duncan. Highly recommend!”

“My min poodle Finn is often hesitant to go with strangers but he was happy to immeidately take off with Rian, no hesitation. She was really good with him and I'm not sure he wanted to leave LOL! I give her extra points because in spite of good directions and a GPS I was unable to find her building at drop off AND pick up! She is near a large and lovely park with lots of other dog walkers, which is a perfect environment for him. I really appreciated her photos, and her TLC for me as well as Finn.”

“I wish I could give a 10 star review. I cannot recommend Nashari enough! She brought our dog back better than we gave him. She sent pictures and updates and even brought him back after our trip. We will be using her services from now on!”

“Jodie was available to watch our sweet Shiba with little notice when we decided to sneak away to the beach last minute. Jodie is an excellent communicator, sending frequent photos and updates, and it is very obvious that she makes her canine guests feel comfortable and at home. We highly highly recommend Jodie!”

“Ann is an absolute sweet heart! First impressions are everything. I had initially reached out just checking around for rates with other sitters. Not only was Ann the quickest, but she was the most friendliest. We quickly arranged a meet & greet, and it went so well we booked her right on the spot! Throughout our trip, she messages us regularly, sending updates with photos, and always prompt in responding. I know when I'm out of town, I always miss my fur babies. It's nice when I don't always have to be the one to reach out & ask, "How's he doing?". She usually beat me to, which is highly appreciated. Our cat loved her :) From the photos, he made himself right at home. It's reassuring to know that he was loved & cared for, and had a blast while we were away. We have a few trips planned this year, so will definitely be rebooking (already in the process one of another).”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Durham
Parker's first visit to Lauren was great! She was so accommodating letting me bring him for a day visit to get him used to coming to her house. It helped me get used to it as well. She was understanding of both his needs and mine and made me feel comfortable leaving Parker with her for our upcoming week long vacation.

Julia was fantastic with our somewhat difficult and quirky border collie. She did lots of long walks, which was so nice to see. Lucy got a ton of exercise and lounged on her comfy couch. Lucy got to a couple brownies (she’s very sneaky), and I was very pleased with how Julia handled it. She immediately called poison control and let us know. She monitored her closely and it was totally a non issue. I wasn’t worried because of how responsibly handled it was. We will absolutely trust Julia to watch Lucy again!

Erin did a wonderful job watching Islay while we were out of town! I appreciated regular updates and Islay seemed very happy and well taken care of. Erin was also flexible and helpful when our flights got delayed! We would definitely book with Erin again in the future.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
