“Paul did drop-in visits on our three cats while we were on travel. Paul was kind enough to accept our request even though we were located outside of his service area. Paul successfully medicated our cats, even our shy/anxious one. Paul also aided in a possible carbon monoxide emergency and promptly secured our cats while the situation was being resolved. We received detailed updates on how are cats were doing and received pictures as well. We not only recommend Paul for his compassionate care for our fur babies but also his willingness to stay longer to handle an emergency. Will be using his services in the future. Thank you Paul!”

“Lydia took such good care of cat! Clearly lots of play time and pets, consistent timing, and great daily photos and updates. We came home to find our normally anxious cat feeling calm!”

“Ally did a great job taking care of our cats! She was communicative, reliable, on time, and took great care of everything while we were away. She also sent the cutest photo updates, which gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in good hands. We'd definitely book with her again!”

About: A few years ago, I lost both my very senior dogs, which I adopted as puppies from the shelter. As you can imagine, there's a dog-shaped space in my life. I'm not ready to adopt again, but that means your dog has a second home! Other than errands, I’m home all day with your dog. (If they like car rides, they’re welcome to join me for school dropoff and pickup!) My yard is fenced and shady, and there are plenty of sidewalks for adventures around the neighborhood. If your pet needs a crate, please provide it. I almost always have more than one dog at a time, so yours needs to be dog-friendly or at least dog-tolerant. I also have twin 11-year-olds—both great with dogs, but yours should not be kid-reactive.
“Kristen was great! She took good care of our girls and alerted us when they knocked over their treats from the counter and ate a bunch. Thanks for looking after them!”

“As always Taylor was great with my pup Rook. I needed help with his care on short notice for a longer than usual amount of time and Taylor didn't hesitate to step in and cover Rook's needs. I would happily request her help again in the future and would recommend her to anyone else in need of Rover support. Thanks Taylor!”

“Brynn did an excellent job cat-sitting for Benji. She went above and beyond our expectations! Benji warmed up to her right away. We'd happily have her look after him again!”

“Rachael made our lives so much easier when she watched our pets. She went above and beyond to ensure they were cared for and nurtured while we were away. She provided excellent feedback and communication throughout her time with them. We are very pleased with her services.”

“Kate is a very sweet and amazing person, she was very nice with the cats and send photos every day, check their food and gave them their wet food every day! My cat that doesn't like people got a like on her! thank you so much for taking care of them I will book again in the future!”

“Michelle was incredibly punctual, trustworthy, responsible, and attentive to care instructions. We’re so grateful for the wonderful care you gave our kitty while we were on vacation. We’ll definitely reach out again in the future if you’re available to look after Khelgar!”

“Katrin is an excellent caretaker. She took care of our cats like they were her own. She spent time playing with them and even brought extra toys for them to use. We will definitely be using her again. 10/10”

“Rosa dropped in and walked my anxious dog during the day while I was out of town. She sent detailed updates after each drop in, which eased my mind as I was far from home. She followed all instructions perfectly. I would absolutely reach out to Rosa again in the future.”

“Sabrina was great at watching my cat, Ollie! She gave detailed updates and sent the best pictures! I felt bad about leaving him for the holidays, but I was glad to have her popping in and keeping him company!”

“Dana was amazing for my sully!!! He is just a puppy and i worry so much about him when im gone and it was such a relief having someone who loves dogs and cares about all the little details of care!!! I trust her so much and love how much i could tell she loved my puppy too and am looking forward to booking her again!!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Durham
Tyler was fantastic! He took great care of my cat over the past few weeks, making sure she always had food, fresh water, and a clean litter box. He was dependable, helped keep an eye on the house while I was away, and sent great photos and updates that gave me peace of mind. I’d absolutely trust Tyler to care for her again and highly recommend him!
We check Kate’s availability before we book our vacations 🤣. We have an elderly diabetic cat who we can’t imagine leaving in anyone else’s care. While we hate leaving our cat we have peace of mind while we are away knowing that Kate is taking the best possible care of her. The peace of mind is priceless. Kate goes above and beyond and we can’t thank other enough ❤️❤️❤️

Sarah was wonderful in taking care of our cat. She was great to communicate with, always responding quickly and being very flexible. She was respectful of our cat's feeding schedule and other specific needs, which meant a lot to us. We especially appreciated that she sent updates after every visit and was always precise with her timing, helping our cat stay on her usual routine. She is very reliable, and we would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, dependable sitter!

Highly recommend Alexis! She took good care of my two needy kitties. Alexis is very easy to communicate with and responsive to our messages. We had multiple unexpected situations that needed her help: (1) my plants grew slower than expected and we couldn’t send them to our friends’ place so we asked Alexis to take extra care of them and they survived! (2) we had an unexpected large FedEx delivery that Alexis helped us put inside our apartment safely and securely. (3) our returning flight was delayed so we had to tell Alexis last minute to add extra food& water for the kitties and thankfully she checked the message and responded in time and our kittens didn’t need to starve! Very thankful for Alexis’ help so that we can travel without worry :)

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Durham. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
