“Kim is very friendly, courteous and polite. My dogs immediately took a liking to Kim and showed her how comfortable they were with her while holding them in her arms. As soon as my dogs were placed on Kim's lap, they stopped barking (usually a constant barkers) and became calm. Kim's secure, loving affection she conveys has a valuable impact to my dogs' temperaments.”

“Zichen was wonderful with my dog. Her communication was excellent—she kept me updated throughout the stay and reached out immediately if anything came up. I really appreciated how attentive and caring she was with my pup. It was clear she took great care of my baby, and I felt completely at ease knowing my dog was in good hands. Overall, she did a great job, and I would happily book with her again.”

“Paul is absolutely great! Taking care of my pooch when we were gone, dropping in on him, taking him for walks and feeding him. He is very professional and more than capable of the responsibility implied. I would definitely recommend him!”

“As always Taylor was great with my pup Rook. I needed help with his care on short notice for a longer than usual amount of time and Taylor didn't hesitate to step in and cover Rook's needs. I would happily request her help again in the future and would recommend her to anyone else in need of Rover support. Thanks Taylor!”

“Emma was great! She stayed longer than she was scheduled for to make sure my pups had eaten and pottied. She sent updates after each visit and sent pictures. Thanks for taking such good care of my puppers❤️❤️”

About: I’ve taken care of cats and dogs my whole life! I know how it feels to have someone else take care of your animals so I will for sure to give them all the loves, treats, and play time to ensure they get the best care while your gone! I am a nurse so I would be able to come and visit on my days off, or after work. Since I only work a couple of days I have a very flexible schedule! I would make sure to always have any dog on a leash and be attentive to my surroundings. As well as making sure they eat the proper food and notice if anything was out of the ordinary
“Sofia was extremely communicative and sent lots of pictures. It was clear that all of my animals loved her, including two of my more skittish and shy pets. I can’t recommend her enough!”

“Will definitely be my go-to sitter! My cats love her (and my corgi has also decided she can be a new best friend), and she took the time to really lovingly care for the kitties. Awesome person, and went above and beyond! (Even vacuumed up some extra kibble my kitties left behind) 100/10, will be hiring again.”

About: I have 5 cats of my own as well as a small dog, and I cherish all animals. I have been petsitting for family and friends since I was about 10, and am flexibly available to take care of your babies when you need. I'm a high-school senior about to graduate, so during the summer I will have plenty of free time to devote to taking care of your animals! I will do anything requested of me regarding caring for your pets in your home, including keeping them company, going on walks, and giving them plenty of love.
“Alex took great care of my 2 cats while I was away for a long weekend. One of my cats requires medication twice daily, and Alex delivered it seamlessly, followed instructions, and even provided my cat her inhaler when she showed that she needed it. He also took great care of my home by keeping it tidy and retrieving mail/packages. My favorite part was the wonderful photos and updates provided for each visit. I’d definitely recommend Alex as a great sitter!”

“Kristin did a great job with my cat and handled the somewhat complicated instructions for getting into my apartment building perfectly! I appreciated her flexibility in accommodating timing needs as well.”

“Katrin took great care of our cat, Bodie, while we were out of town for the holidays. She was easy to communicate with and gave us plenty of pictures and updates - and even got our typically shy cat to play. Overall, it was a great experience and we felt at ease with her checking on our pet!”

“Lydia Rose was wonderful with Clover. Provided excellent updates and we appreciated her flexibility and availability. We look forward to having her take care of Clover again!”

About: Dogs have been my whole world since I was four years old, and I've been actively caring for them since I was around ten. Now at 25, with over 15 years of hands-on experience, I know what it means to love a pet like family, not just as a pet, but as a real member of your life. I'm a proud fur-parent to Boogie, a rescue pup I adopted at four months old. He's two now, and watching him grow has only deepened how much I care about the life every dog deserves. It's something I think about a lot: our pets are experiencing everything for the very first time, and that's worth honoring. I also volunteer as a temporary foster with Hope Animal Rescue, which means I'm comfortable meeting animals exactly where they are, whether that's a nervous newcomer or a playful goofball who wants all the attention. I take every walk and drop-in seriously, because I know a mid-day break and a kind, familiar face can make a pet's whole day. My schedule is more flexible than it might look on paper. I work full-time in the office four days a week, typically wrapping up between 3:30 and 4, and I'm always happy to stop by before work, after work, or in between my jobs. I also work part-time some weekday evenings and weekends, but my hours shift week to week, so I'd rather just talk through what works for you and go from there. If you need someone reliable who's willing to figure it out, I'm your person. When you invite me into your home, I treat it with the same care and respect I'd want for my own. I'm tidy, mindful of your space, and will always leave things exactly as I found them. Your pet's routine matters too. I'll follow whatever instructions you leave, from feeding schedules to favorite toys to the walks they're used to. For walks, I keep a close eye on leash behavior and surroundings, and I'll never push a pet past their comfort zone. I know some dogs need a slow warm-up and others are ready to go the second the leash comes out, and I'm happy to meet them wherever they are that day. You can also expect regular updates while I'm with your pet. I'm happy to send a photo, a quick message, whatever gives you peace of mind while you're away. I know handing over a key and trusting someone with your animal is a big deal, and I don't take that lightly.
“Joy went above and beyond, continuing to check on my cat in the midst of a tropical storm. She also made sure other aspects of the house were secure, as requested, and was respectful of covid cautions.”

Sia has been an incredible sitter - from her flexibility to her kindness and love for animals, I genuinely feel I’ve found such a special and loving sitter for my little baby. She take such great photos and will adapt to your instructions no matter how specific! Thank you for giving me peace of mind during my trip and for being so responsive and loving to my fur baby. I will absolutely rebook for future trips!

Jade was a phenomenal sitter for my kitty! She was communicative and always available, and she went above and beyond with her care. She cleaned up an unusual accident my kitty had, and even brought Amazon packages in for me. I truly hope she’s available when I need her next because I will definitely be using her again! Highly highly recommend!

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
