“Bella did a great job with our pups whole we were out of town. She was very easy to work with and responded quickly to request. Thanks hope to utilize her again in the future.”

“Thank you so much for checking on Frankie! She is currently sitting at the door waiting for you to come, even though we are on the couch. I think that is a pretty positive review from a cat (haha).”

“Brian took great care of our two cats. We really appreciated the photos and updates he sent with each visit. He went above and beyond to engage our cats and keep our home clean and safe for them.”

“We are so thankful to have found Kate! She is amazing with our energetic puppy. He absolutely adores her and is thoroughly tuckered out after their walks, playtime and adventures. I have never used a service like Rover before, but Kate immediately put me at ease. I was able to schedule our visits very timely and feel like Kate keeps us updated with how each visit goes. She is cognizant of puppy development and helps to support our training of our pup by using the same language, routines, and providing incredibly helpful tips. She is a lifesaver and I wholeheartedly recommend her services!”

“Racheal is fabulous. She gives great daily feedback on her visits with our Kitty. We have peace of mind when we go on vacation that Miss Kitty always get lots of attention.”

“Excellent service Fantastic with the cats lots of attention! They usually hide from strangers but they come out when Meredith check in . They truly like her. Thank you sooo much Meredith for taking good care of my cats. I feel relaxed and confident they are in good hands!”

“Joy went above and beyond, continuing to check on my cat in the midst of a tropical storm. She also made sure other aspects of the house were secure, as requested, and was respectful of covid cautions.”

About: I love animals and have volunteered at animal shelters since I was 9. If I could, I would spend all of my time walking dogs and playing with cats! Currently I am a dog walker and sitter for a couple dogs and cats and am excited to befriend more! I currently work out of the house on Wednesdays and Saturdays for 7 hours. The rest of the week I work from home and love to spend quality time playing, hiking, and snuggling with the pets I care for! I exclusively pet-sit at the moment. When I am home I love spending as much time as possible with your pet! When I am out I will follow your lead on crating or not.
“Betsy is great! Very reliable with good communication. She went above and beyond making sure the house temperature was comfortable when our A/C went out and retrieving our cat when he slipped out. I will definitely hire her again.”

“Winter did a great job taking care of our 4 cats. I really appreciate how easy the whole process was and how well Winter communicated and kept us posted while we were away. Thanks so much!”

“Sophie did a great job with Jacky. Sophie went well above the minimum and took him for walks, played with him in the back yard and sat with him on the couch. Sophie communicated with my regularly via messages, pictures, walk routes, and video. I recommend her highly.”

“Kim was absolutely amazing with our two senior cats! She followed their feeding routine perfectly, sent the cutest daily pics and updates, and kept us so informed and at ease the whole time. One of our cats warmed up to her right away, and the other one is a certified weirdo with strangers who actually chose to be around her instead of hiding under the bed (for our weirdo, that's basically a five star review). We will definitely be booking Kim again and highly recommend her to anyone who wants their furry babies in wonderful hands.”

About: Hello! I am 38, been in Durham since 2013, and I have lived with several friends who had dogs, so I got my start taking care of them when our human housemates were out of town. One of those longtime housemates is a certified dog trainer who had three dogs when we lived together, so I learned a lot from them about dog care and behavior! In my mid 20’s, I was referred to a friend’s parents for overnight dog sitting. I ended up loving it and have been dog sitting for them for 10+years. I’ve also taken care of their three adult children’s pets when they’re on vacation many times, proving that they trust me with their whole family 💜 Three of the dogs I have taken care of have been seniors with medications, special diets and/or needs, such as more frequent potty breaks, or help getting up and down stairs. I enjoy spending special time with those elderly family members. Since then, I have been referred to several other people for overnight stays. I have a few regular clients whose cats and dogs I stay with as well. I grew up a cat person, rescuing and raising kittens from a feral cat colony in our neighborhood. We had six of our own throughout the years who all lived to be between 18-22 years old! I have also taken care of chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs several times. I love to garden and take care of plants, as I have worked on a couple farms for several years and currently live with someone who owns a landscaping/garden business 🌱 I am currently in between jobs while pursuing a new career. Previously, I have managed catering companies for the last 10 years. While I am job hunting, I am very flexible to spend as much time as needed with your pet! When I am staying with a new dog, I make sure to use the owners’ commands, following their instructions to a ‘T’. I believe that dogs can sense when someone isn’t comfortable with them, so I try to establish a trusting relationship where the dog will respect me while also feeling calm with me, during the time when their person isn’t home. I would love to have repeat clients in order to build a longer relationship with them. It always feels so good when I show up to a client’s house and their pet is as excited to see me as I am to see them💖
“Violet was a super prompt communicator and had no issues taking over on caring for our cat, Miso. She even traversed rough storm weather to check on her when we were out of the country. Would def book again!”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in University. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
