Cannot say enough great things about Lindsay and our overall Rover experience! Communication was so clear and concise that I could not have felt more at ease with her caring for our babies. Not only are we immediately booking her again, I’m also making sure I don’t leave anyone in my contacts that has pets out of sending a referral. Thank you, again, Lindsay!!!

About: Hi there! I’ve had pets my entire life and currently have a 6 year old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix, so I’m no stranger to high energy dogs that need structure, exercise, and plenty of mental stimulation. Through caring for my own dog and helping friends and family with theirs over the years, I’ve gained experience with everything from daily walks and feeding routines to enrichment, playtime, and providing extra patience for anxious or reactive pups. I genuinely enjoy getting to know each pet’s personality and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. One of the perks of working freelance is having a flexible schedule! That means I can often accommodate daytime walks, drop-ins, and last-minute requests. I love spending time with animals, so getting to care for pets throughout my week is something I genuinely enjoy. When caring for pets in a client’s home, my goal is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while maintaining their normal routine as much as possible. I’ve been trusted by friends and mutual friends to care for both their homes and pets over the years, so I understand how important that trust is and don’t take it lightly. I treat every home with respect, provide regular updates, and strive to give pet parents peace of mind while they’re away.

About: I’ve been a pet mom for over 25 years while raising my five children. Since losing my loyal companion 2 years ago and empty nesting, I am ready to shower love and care to your beloved pet. There’s nothing like the unconditional love of a pet and I can’t wait to meet your furry companion! I am currently a companion to my 90 year old mother and am home every day. I can easily incorporate care for your pet into our very flexible schedule. I can offer walks, play and companionship to your pet and visits to dog parks if they like to play with other dogs. Deck available at home- yard is not fenced in. Beautiful walking area around the lake behind our home.

About: Hello! I am 38, been in Durham since 2013, and I have lived with several friends who had dogs, so I got my start taking care of them when our human housemates were out of town. One of those longtime housemates is a certified dog trainer who had three dogs when we lived together, so I learned a lot from them about dog care and behavior! In my mid 20’s, I was referred to a friend’s parents for overnight dog sitting. I ended up loving it and have been dog sitting for them for 10+years. I’ve also taken care of their three adult children’s pets when they’re on vacation many times, proving that they trust me with their whole family 💜 Three of the dogs I have taken care of have been seniors with medications, special diets and/or needs, such as more frequent potty breaks, or help getting up and down stairs. I enjoy spending special time with those elderly family members. Since then, I have been referred to several other people for overnight stays. I have a few regular clients whose cats and dogs I stay with as well. I grew up a cat person, rescuing and raising kittens from a feral cat colony in our neighborhood. We had six of our own throughout the years who all lived to be between 18-22 years old! I have also taken care of chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs several times. I love to garden and take care of plants, as I have worked on a couple farms for several years and currently live with someone who owns a landscaping/garden business 🌱 I am currently in between jobs while pursuing a new career. Previously, I have managed catering companies for the last 10 years. While I am job hunting, I am very flexible to spend as much time as needed with your pet! When I am staying with a new dog, I make sure to use the owners’ commands, following their instructions to a ‘T’. I believe that dogs can sense when someone isn’t comfortable with them, so I try to establish a trusting relationship where the dog will respect me while also feeling calm with me, during the time when their person isn’t home. I would love to have repeat clients in order to build a longer relationship with them. It always feels so good when I show up to a client’s house and their pet is as excited to see me as I am to see them💖

About: I have extensive experience taking care of dogs and cats, including high energy pups like german shepherds. I have two cats myself and have taken care of them since they were kittens. I also have experience house sitting and dog walking puppies to middle aged dogs. I currently work from home multiple days of the week and am able to check-in on and/or walk pets as needed throughout the day. I am also available to check-in and/or walk pets every day, before and after work. I am free every weekend, and am happy to accommodate my schedule as needed to take care of your pets! I will take proper care of your pet when they are under my care, including ensuring that dogs are leashed during walks, fostering positive reinforcement, and cleaning up the house to ensure a comfortable environment while you are away. Whenever meeting a new pet, I always make sure to slowly introduce myself and keep myself to their energy level to ensure that they feel comfortable and safe. While care will be tailored to your needs and expectations, I intend to make 2-4 visits a day and ensure they get adequate play, food, and potty breaks. I am happy to do a meet and greet with your pet prior to providing care as needed!

Kat is such a patient and friendly lady. She’s great with dogs and very responsible when walking my dog. She even brought a raincoat for my dog on rainy days which is so considerate. I’ll definitely come back again to her if I need someone to take care of my dog in the future. :))

About: I am passionate to give every animal the best quality of life possible, whether they’re small or big, loud or quiet, needy or independent. Anyone who knows me knows that if I see a dog, my day is immediately changed for the better. Any dog owner I've met can attest to the amount of care and attention I allow to any and every animal in my possession. What sets me apart from other sitters and walkers is that I will pay attention to every detail. I ask questions and stay as organized as humanly possible, so if your pup requires certain care, believe that I will be on top of it. I provide the most compassionate heart for all dog owners and their beloved animals, along with the most precise mind to handle any dog and their unique qualities. I'm currently working freelance, so most days I only have a couple things on my schedule. This also allows me to modify my routine if I am caring for an animal. With notice as to any concerns within your home, I will navigate it in any such way the client prefers. Your property deserves the same respect as mine, so necessary care will be taken to protect your space -- no mess of mine left behind.

Sarah was a life saver for us! A last minute unexpected need for a walker came up, and Sarah was so kind to lend a hand with my leash reactive dog. She was amazing with Schpoozi in handling his special needs, and showed up when she said she would. Dependable, responsible and sweet, what more could you ask for? Highly recommended!

  • 89% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
