“Kate was a lifesaver I was having a busy day and the pup was being crazy and needed a walk. Kate came right over and walked her and she was chill the rest of the morning! Thank you Kate!!!”

About: Mother daughter team pet sitter. We LOVE animals, We’ve had three dogs and we currently have our best friend Ella who’s an emotional support Animal. We also volunteer at the Animal Shelter frequently with lots of experience with pets. We have experience caring for dogs and cats of different ages, sizes, and personalities. I’m comfortable with daily walks, feeding routines, playtime, and giving pets lots of attention and companionship so they feel safe and relaxed while their owners are away. We treat every pet like our own and always keep owners updated with photos and messages. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I’m able to provide consistent care throughout the day, including morning, afternoon, and evening check-ins depending on your pet’s needs. I’m flexible with scheduling and make sure your pet gets attention, exercise, and companionship on time every day. We believe pets are human's best friend. We will recognize the needs of the pets and respond accordingly. Be patient and calm with pets that are withdrawn or scared. Pets are sensitive to change and may be missing their owners so we will maintain their schedule as much as possible.

About: I grew up taking care of my family dog that we had for 13 wonderful years. I have been dog sitting for many years and have also volunteered at animal shelters in the past. My partner and I own a home in Hillsborough, where we have a large, fenced-in yard for our own pups, Reggie and Echo, to enjoy. Reggie is excitable and has a loud voice, and though he doesn't always know how to contain that energy, he's a lovebug who just wants to play with anyone and everyone. We've had a number of dogs here to stay with us, including a 12-week-old puppy, and he loves them all! We recently got him a little sister, Echo. After a 2-hour adjustment period, they were fast friends and snuggling as they napped! She's also a sweetheart and is working on learning good manners. Reggie and Echo spend most of their time traipsing around the back yard and napping in the sun. I work from home, so your dog can get plenty of supervised playtime! I can also send plenty of pictures during your little one's stay if you'd like! Let me care for your sweet pup when you are away from home! I work from home full time, so your dog and mine will have plenty of supervised care and time to play and explore the backyard! We live on an acre, and the back half is completely fenced in with a 5 ft fence to keep all pups safe and contained!
About: I love animals and have volunteered at animal shelters since I was 9. If I could, I would spend all of my time walking dogs and playing with cats! Currently I am a dog walker and sitter for a couple dogs and cats and am excited to befriend more! I currently work out of the house on Wednesdays and Saturdays for 7 hours. The rest of the week I work from home and love to spend quality time playing, hiking, and snuggling with the pets I care for! I exclusively pet-sit at the moment. When I am home I love spending as much time as possible with your pet! When I am out I will follow your lead on crating or not.
“Caleb took such great care of our dog! He did walk visits and drop-in visits and was on time for all visits and very responsive. We will definitely use Caleb again in the future!”

“Vanessa was a wonderful sitter! She was able to accommodate our last minute request for our two pups. She provided updates with each visit along with pictures. Will definitely use her again!”

About: Hi there! I’ve had pets my entire life and currently have a 6 year old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix, so I’m no stranger to high energy dogs that need structure, exercise, and plenty of mental stimulation. Through caring for my own dog and helping friends and family with theirs over the years, I’ve gained experience with everything from daily walks and feeding routines to enrichment, playtime, and providing extra patience for anxious or reactive pups. I genuinely enjoy getting to know each pet’s personality and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. One of the perks of working freelance is having a flexible schedule! That means I can often accommodate daytime walks, drop-ins, and last-minute requests. I love spending time with animals, so getting to care for pets throughout my week is something I genuinely enjoy. When caring for pets in a client’s home, my goal is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while maintaining their normal routine as much as possible. I’ve been trusted by friends and mutual friends to care for both their homes and pets over the years, so I understand how important that trust is and don’t take it lightly. I treat every home with respect, provide regular updates, and strive to give pet parents peace of mind while they’re away.
About: I enjoy animals of all kinds, and I understand seeing pets as family members. I have been primary caregiver for many pets over the years, from aquarium fish to parrots to large dogs. I have (with professional guidance) trained puppies and cared for elder dogs. My work schedule is generally flexible and mostly remote, so I believe I can accommodate most needs. Advance notice always helps but I can likely handle last-minute requests as well. I am not able to host any pets but I am available for pet-sitting, check-ins, and dog-walking. Above all I try to care for people's pets as they would. Information about your pets' routines, dietary and medical needs, training, etc., is always appreciated. I am alert to what pets communicate about their needs and feelings. I generally believe in positive reinforcement and addressing issues before they become problems.
About: Hello! I am 38, been in Durham since 2013, and I have lived with several friends who had dogs, so I got my start taking care of them when our human housemates were out of town. One of those longtime housemates is a certified dog trainer who had three dogs when we lived together, so I learned a lot from them about dog care and behavior! In my mid 20’s, I was referred to a friend’s parents for overnight dog sitting. I ended up loving it and have been dog sitting for them for 10+years. I’ve also taken care of their three adult children’s pets when they’re on vacation many times, proving that they trust me with their whole family 💜 Three of the dogs I have taken care of have been seniors with medications, special diets and/or needs, such as more frequent potty breaks, or help getting up and down stairs. I enjoy spending special time with those elderly family members. Since then, I have been referred to several other people for overnight stays. I have a few regular clients whose cats and dogs I stay with as well. I grew up a cat person, rescuing and raising kittens from a feral cat colony in our neighborhood. We had six of our own throughout the years who all lived to be between 18-22 years old! I have also taken care of chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs several times. I love to garden and take care of plants, as I have worked on a couple farms for several years and currently live with someone who owns a landscaping/garden business 🌱 I am currently in between jobs while pursuing a new career. Previously, I have managed catering companies for the last 10 years. While I am job hunting, I am very flexible to spend as much time as needed with your pet! When I am staying with a new dog, I make sure to use the owners’ commands, following their instructions to a ‘T’. I believe that dogs can sense when someone isn’t comfortable with them, so I try to establish a trusting relationship where the dog will respect me while also feeling calm with me, during the time when their person isn’t home. I would love to have repeat clients in order to build a longer relationship with them. It always feels so good when I show up to a client’s house and their pet is as excited to see me as I am to see them💖
About: Hello! I am excited for the chance to get to know your furry loved one. I have been around dogs and cats my whole life and understand how important they are to our lives. I will treat them like my own. I bring an easy going, friendly, and understanding energy to every pet care opportunity. I have 3 pets with my partner, one anxious pit bull from the pound, one very particular tabby cat, and one of the most loving siamese cats. They have taught me the complexity of pet behavior and how each one has their own specific needs. I am happy to wear a mask inside your home and test for COVID before arriving. If you are looking for a detail oriented, friendly, queer ,COVID conscious and trusted pet sitter, then I am the right pet sitter for you. Thank you for trusting me with your loved one! I am available for walks, check ins, and night stays during the week. I have open availability during the weekends and holidays. Depending on the request I can do my best to accommodate your request. I will follow your recommendations and requests very closely. I will make sure to give your pets a lot of attention and send frequent updates and photos. I treat all pets with patience, respect, and understanding as if they were my own. Just like people, animals have their own boundaries and ways of communicating.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
