About: I've been pet sitting cats since I was a teenager. I consistently pet sat for my neighbors cat around age 14 until we moved states. Most of my experience with cats comes from pet sitting for friends, neighbors, and family. My best friend and college roommate got a cat at 6 months old while we lived in the dorms together and helping them raise her made me hope to have a cat of my own someday, but for now I try to cat sit for as many friends as possible. I often look after my sisters boyfriend's cat when they go on short trips together and consider him mine at this point. In addition to cat sitting, I became known as the cat person at the kennel I worked at for 3+ years. Every so often we'd get 2-6 cats boarding and I was the designated kennel attendant to get cats out of their runs and into the arms of their owners. All my coworkers knew to find me in the cat room, making it become an ineffective hiding place for when I was done with work early. While at the kennel, I also had experience administering medication through pill and shot form for an older/disabled cat (no aggression or risk of biting).

About: Hello, my senior dog of 14 years passed away recently, so I am looking to get my pup fix in while also helping you out! You can expect an attentive, caring and fun foster environment when your pet stays with me. I am an active individual who works from home and doesnt mind stepping out of the house 3 to 4 times a day to exercise and play with your pets! I currently live a block away from Duke's east campus, so your pup will have access to beautiful walks around the East Campus loop, the Trinity Park neighborhood, and the Eno River state park, if they are up for it! 🤠 I also have plenty of dog toys, dog beds, and a kennel if your dog is crate trained and prefers to sleep in a crate! I currently work from home, so your pet will have unlimited access to myself and my apartment while we stay together! As mentioned above, I love being active with pets, so whatever your animals outdoor needs are, Im sure that I can fill them! I have easy access to Duke's East Campus loop, the Trinity Park Neighborhood, and the Eno River state park for all play and exercise needs. I am a physically active person, and would love to take your pet out as much as they desire! I do have a kennel available for dogs who prefer to be crated, and if not, I have free roam dog beds, couches and human beds available for all pets who enjoy them!

About: Hello! I am 38, been in Durham since 2013, and I have lived with several friends who had dogs, so I got my start taking care of them when our human housemates were out of town. One of those longtime housemates is a certified dog trainer who had three dogs when we lived together, so I learned a lot from them about dog care and behavior! In my mid 20’s, I was referred to a friend’s parents for overnight dog sitting. I ended up loving it and have been dog sitting for them for 10+years. I’ve also taken care of their three adult children’s pets when they’re on vacation many times, proving that they trust me with their whole family 💜 Three of the dogs I have taken care of have been seniors with medications, special diets and/or needs, such as more frequent potty breaks, or help getting up and down stairs. I enjoy spending special time with those elderly family members. Since then, I have been referred to several other people for overnight stays. I have a few regular clients whose cats and dogs I stay with as well. I grew up a cat person, rescuing and raising kittens from a feral cat colony in our neighborhood. We had six of our own throughout the years who all lived to be between 18-22 years old! I have also taken care of chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs several times. I love to garden and take care of plants, as I have worked on a couple farms for several years and currently live with someone who owns a landscaping/garden business 🌱 I am currently in between jobs while pursuing a new career. “My dog loved it here for a long weekend! She’s usually very shy and timid but Vanessa took time to make sure she was comfortable. Roo takes medication every 12 hours and I did not have to worry when I was on my trip. Vanessa took amazing care of my dog and I highly recommend!”
