“Jessica has always taken good care of our Furry Family members. We receive photos as well as text-updates that give us piece-of-mind while we are out of town that our pets are being cared for. I would recommend her highly the next time you are in need of pet-care.”
“Jerrica was amazing with my pup! She took the time to ask questions and learn about his routine to ensure he and I were both comfortable. She was always right on time for visits and showed so much care and patience with him. My dog was given lots of cuddles and love and I’m so happy I found such a trust worthy and caring sitter for him. We will absolutely be using Jerrica’s services again and again.”

“What an amazing experience! Sophie is one of the most communicative and engaged pet sitter we have ever worked with! Her twice daily updates were timely and informative and kept us at ease! She is a gem and we would love to work with her anytime! She is very friendly, respectful, responsible and organized!”

“Betsy is great! Very reliable with good communication. She went above and beyond making sure the house temperature was comfortable when our A/C went out and retrieving our cat when he slipped out. I will definitely hire her again.”

About: Hello! I am 38, been in Durham since 2013, and I have lived with several friends who had dogs, so I got my start taking care of them when our human housemates were out of town. One of those longtime housemates is a certified dog trainer who had three dogs when we lived together, so I learned a lot from them about dog care and behavior! In my mid 20’s, I was referred to a friend’s parents for overnight dog sitting. I ended up loving it and have been dog sitting for them for 10+years. I’ve also taken care of their three adult children’s pets when they’re on vacation many times, proving that they trust me with their whole family 💜 Three of the dogs I have taken care of have been seniors with medications, special diets and/or needs, such as more frequent potty breaks, or help getting up and down stairs. I enjoy spending special time with those elderly family members. Since then, I have been referred to several other people for overnight stays. I have a few regular clients whose cats and dogs I stay with as well. I grew up a cat person, rescuing and raising kittens from a feral cat colony in our neighborhood. We had six of our own throughout the years who all lived to be between 18-22 years old! I have also taken care of chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs several times. I love to garden and take care of plants, as I have worked on a couple farms for several years and currently live with someone who owns a landscaping/garden business 🌱 I am currently in between jobs while pursuing a new career. Previously, I have managed catering companies for the last 10 years. While I am job hunting, I am very flexible to spend as much time as needed with your pet! When I am staying with a new dog, I make sure to use the owners’ commands, following their instructions to a ‘T’. I believe that dogs can sense when someone isn’t comfortable with them, so I try to establish a trusting relationship where the dog will respect me while also feeling calm with me, during the time when their person isn’t home. I would love to have repeat clients in order to build a longer relationship with them. It always feels so good when I show up to a client’s house and their pet is as excited to see me as I am to see them💖
“Kate took care of my fur family while I was out of town. I was often worried about them, but Kate put my mind at ease by providing me with regular check ins on how everyone was doing. Kate sent photos of my cats showing that she spent time with them. Seeing them sitting on her lap brought me so much peace. I looked forward to receiving the photos of them she sent! Thanks, Kate!”

“Rachael made our lives so much easier when she watched our pets. She went above and beyond to ensure they were cared for and nurtured while we were away. She provided excellent feedback and communication throughout her time with them. We are very pleased with her services.”

“Rachael is a wonderful pet caregiver! Finn is so happy in his Rover pictures as well as when we get home. Rachael is punctual and she is responsive with communication. Thank you, Rachael!”

“Joy is so great! She makes sure to send lots of photos and updates. She even put on relaxing music for the dogs during the Fourth of July fireworks. We will definitely book again!”

“Meredith is the best sitter I’ve found since I moved here- such a lovely person, great communication, great follow-through and sent so many photos of my dog looking super happy doing his normal daily routine, I felt so at ease knowing he was getting enough attention and would definitely seek her out again!”

“Kelly was able to accommodate us last minute for a drop in visit for our pup. She was prompt and followed our instructions for our senior boy. We would highly recommend!”

About: I’ve been a pet mom for over 25 years while raising my five children. Since losing my loyal companion 2 years ago and empty nesting, I am ready to shower love and care to your beloved pet. There’s nothing like the unconditional love of a pet and I can’t wait to meet your furry companion! I am currently a companion to my 90 year old mother and am home every day. I can easily incorporate care for your pet into our very flexible schedule. I can offer walks, play and companionship to your pet and visits to dog parks if they like to play with other dogs. Deck available at home- yard is not fenced in. Beautiful walking area around the lake behind our home.
About: I've been pet sitting for friends, family, and neighbors for over a decade, with 3+years of experience working at a kennel. I worked as a kennel attendant from 2021-2024 before moving to Durham. I primarily cared for boarding dogs and cats (and the occasional exotic), which included feeding, water, medication, walks, bathroom breaks, playtime, cleaning, etc. I have experience giving shots to both dogs and cats (well-behaved, no aggression), and grew up with a diabetic dog in my family where I helped with insulin. I have had repeat pet sitting gigs for friends and family where I have proved myself to be reliable and responsible. If you book me, expect pictures! I love to take pet pictures and will happily send you as many as you'd like (or none if you truly want a get away experience). While I am not currently a dog or cat owner, I have some adorable ferret fur babies of my own (as pictured in my photo gallery). I work full-time 6:30am-3pm M-F. For overnight house stays I will do morning care before 6am and come back around 4pm or later in the evening depending on the pets needs! I have lower maintenance pets of my own so I will need to do drop-ins for them before/after work (I'm blessed for my short commute!) I can crate your pets if needed, leash walk them, or let them out in a fenced yard. I can accommodate for whatever system you have in place for your pet care! Currently, I am not offering pets to stay in my home unless I have built a relationship with the client and know the pets behaviors well enough.

About: I have taken care of dogs, cats, fish, rodents, reptiles, etc. essentially my entire life. I have had dogs (pitbull, hound, cavalier King Charles spaniel), my entire life, am very comfortable handling and walking large dogs, reactive dogs, as well as senior dogs with health conditions like diabetes as my own dog had it in his later years. I have house sat, walked, etc. all different types and sizes and ages of dogs for family friends, the most at once was 3 dogs and 3 cats multiple times, I was in heaven. I am also a complete lover of cats and have had multiple in my life, including 1 feral cat that took up to a year to trust me, understanding a cats boundaries and comfortability are extremely important to be. I am a punctual, clean, kind, and responsible person who just recently graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill. I am filling some time and making some money and I love animals more than anything. I’m currently unemployed after graduation, so I am applying for full-time positions fully remote. That means, full flexibility and availability to provide animal care as the priority. When I care for my own family’s dogs, I wake up at 6 AM to feed and let them out, let them out again before 10 AM, hangout with them and let them out periodically as needed. I give them food and medication in the evening, and settle them down. I am very comfortable adjusting to a dogs or cats schedule. I think every dog and cat is different, has different temperaments and needs, and I accommodate to that in my care. During house sitting, the dog or cat may sleep with me, left out, or crated depending on specific routines. I go beyond just the simple pet care of feeding, letting out, litter changes etc. as I love to spend time with animals. I am an athletic and active person and am happy to take dogs on longer walks, or even have them join me for a run if that’s requested. I also think play time is great and will play in a yard if fenced, or happy to bring in my car to the dog park. Cats, happy to let them in/outside, play with them and provide cuddles.
“Violet was a super prompt communicator and had no issues taking over on caring for our cat, Miso. She even traversed rough storm weather to check on her when we were out of the country. Would def book again!”

“Lindsay was wonderful! First time using Rover and I think my doggies loved staying at home. She was very communicative and the dogs loved her. Will definitely use Lindsay again!”

“We highly recommend J&J! They’ve pet sat 3 times now for us and do an excellent job every time! It’s so much easier to leave your furry loved ones when you know they (and your home) are in great hands!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
