About: I’ve been dog-sitting for the past four years, and I grew up with multiple Australian Shepherds in my house. I am a big runner and love taking dogs hiking and running with me too. This past summer I worked as a vet tech at an animal hospital back home in Nashville and raised a new puppy of my own. I have dog sat for new puppies and older dogs with multiple medications/ointments and everything in between! I am currently a student at UNC Chapel Hill so I am in class for about 4 hours/day, but other than that my schedule is very flexible. I cannot care for pets in my home currently, but in clients’ homes I make sure to spend time with the animals and usually play with them in the yard (if possible) and take them on walks around the neighborhood or drive them to the park to go for a hike.
“Dafna arrived on time every day and was easy and pleasant to communicate with. She followed my instructions and made an effort to interact with my sometimes skittish kitties! I will definitely rebook in the future.”

“Once again, Betsy was the best! She’s a great communicator and a kind and thoughtful sitter. I have complete confidence that my pets are in great hands when they’re in Betsy’s care.”

About: My neighbors trust me to take care of their furry friends when needed. I’ve since moved away for college and hope to meet more pet parents through Rover! I’m currently studying for the MCAT part-time, so my schedule is flexible and I am free to take care of your pet any day of the week! I can easily stay overnight and or simply go for a walk. I live in a pet-friendly townhome with my sister who also loves animals. We have a spacious living room that can accommodate a crate and an unfenced yard.
“Ria was great with my 2 dogs and 1 cat. She came over a few days early for a meet and greet and was able to win their little hearts over some dog biscuits. I see she has many repeat customers, and I will continue to be one of them.”

About: In addition to taking care of dogs, I can usually teach them a trick or two! Shake! I've been around animals my whole life, and I enjoy the company of any critter. Fun fact: my family has always had Boston Terriers, so I have a soft spot for our short-snouted friends! I currently work a full time job at UNC 9-5 M-F, but I am free nights and weekends and can always use my mornings/lunch break to check on your furry friends in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro/Durham area. I do have a small dog at home, so I can’t spend the night unless she is allowed to come with me. I like to ensure that pets get the appropriate amount of exercise needed for their size and age. This means I will take the time to play with your pets indoors or outdoors, and ensure that bigger dogs have longer walks to get all their energy out. Either way, your pets will have a great time with me! I’m open to whatever the needs of your pets are, just let me know what their usual routine is.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Chapel Hill
Jacob was FANTASTIC! He was proactive, attentive, communicated clearly and made sure our senior kitty had all of her medical needs met while we were away. He left everything neat and tidy, and even brought packages that got delivered inside for us. I could not be happier, and will definitely reach out if we need a kitty sitter again in the future.

We had a wonderful experience with Autumn while we were away for four days. She took such great care of Arancina and gave us real peace of mind. Arancina was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for when we returned. Autumn was reliable, attentive, and kept us updated throughout the stay. We are very grateful and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring cat sitter.

Alissa was awesome and incredibly thorough. She promptly provided updates and a detailed summary of how my baby was doing. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants peace of mind when leaving their pets behind. She took excellent care of my pet, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with her again.

Andrew took care of our three cats and was superb! We have completely confidence in him and he took care of a problem while we were away and dealt with it perfectly. We will definitely hope that Andrew is available to cat sit the next time we are away. The cats love him and we are all happy when Andrew takes care of our kitties.

Tab did a great job! They have previous experience with rabbits which is a plus and gave me peace of mind. My rabbits are usually very shy and do not like new people entering their space so it was good to see photos of them relaxed and accepting treats. Would definitely book again!

Megan took absolutely wonderful care of our kitties while we were away. It gave us such peace of mind knowing they were in such kind, attentive, and capable hands. She kept us updated, made sure they were happy and comfortable, and clearly treated them like her own. We came home to relaxed, well-cared-for cats and a home just as we left it. We’re so grateful for her care and would trust her again without hesitation.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chapel Hill. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
