“Krystene and her family are awesome! My dog Wilbur has stayed with them twice now and we had a great experience both times. Wilbur can have a lot of separation anxiety, so it was amazing to see how comfortable he was with Krystene even after staying with her only once. Would definitely recommend Krystene!”

“Naotake and his wife, Hitoko, did a fabulous job watching Penny Friday afternoon-Monday morning while I was out of town. I couldn't be happier with the care they provided and never once questioned their competency or intentions. From finding them on Rover to meeting in person and concluding the sit, they had perfect communication. They answered all of my questions (and vice versa), eased my anxieties, and provided a plethora of information about their experiences caring for pets. I met them in person prior to the sit and they were very warm and welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed/appreciated getting to know them and building a relationship prior to the sit. They were very sweet, accommodating, and passionate about the work they do. During the sit, the responded promptly to my messages and sent tons of videos/photos of Penny. They also sent multiple daily (morning & night) updates about how she was doing, what they had planned for the day, and any questions they had. Naotake and Hitoko went above and beyond, taking Penny on long walks, to the dog park, and in the car for fun rides around town. Considering that Penny has occasional health issues, can be reactive around other dogs, and is currently being crate trained, I was nervous about being apart and worried she would be burdensome for sitters. Naotake and Hitoko never made me feel this way, going out of their way to make me and Penny feel comfortable, supported, and loved. Penny did great with them, got tons of exercise and stimulation, and even had positive experiences with others dogs at the park (which is rare). I'm so appreciate of them for making my trip stress free and treating Penny like their own. If you're looking for kind, authentic, and transparent sitters, Naotake and Hitoko are for you. They accommodated all of my requests, from making Penny kongs, wiping her paws after walks, and following crating/walking routines to ease her anxiety. I will absolutely be booking again. Thank you so much Naotake and Hitoko, Penny and I are so thankful for you! :)”

“Erin and her hubby are amazing! They took such good care of my pup, sent daily pics and vids, and even administered her meds. My baby girl had a great time on her “vacation” and got along well with Lani. I would definitely recommend them and will certainly be using them again! Thanks so much, Erin!”

It was her first stay with them and they made me feel at ease providing updates and sending pictures regularly. This is the second time Megan has cared for my dog during my international trips, and I couldn't be happier. I'm always happy to receive the photos she shared, and it's wonderful to see that my dog is happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a loving and reliable boarding home!

Veronica has been an exceptional dog sitter for our sweet dog Pallino. She sent us daily updates and proved to be attentive to his needs of nice daily walks as well as snuggles... Our dog also had a minor health issue, which Veronica addressed quickly and thoroughly, including her communication with us. During our vacation we felt at ease knowing that Veronica was with our dog throughout the day and he was always well taken care of. We also had a flight cancellation and asked her for a very last minute extension, which she graciously agreed. Thanks Veronica for being such a caring and responsible sitter for our dog!

Naotake took great care of Monny while we were away. He was very thoughtful, communicative, and kept us updated throughout her stay. Monny can be a picky eater and is sensitive to heat, but he paid close attention to her needs and made us feel at ease. We especially appreciated his kindness and the detailed updates. We would definitely trust him with Monny again. Highly recommend!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
