Eli did a great job watching my cat. He showed up consistently, sent pictures of the cat, her food/water/litter box and even brushed her! Daisy came out to see him on the first day and she doesn't like strangers!

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover and proud dog mom to my Labrador, Kirby. Caring for animals has always been a big part of my life, and I have experience with both dogs and cats of all personalities. I understand how important it is to know your pets are safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away. I’ll treat your fur babies like my own, with lots of attention, patience, and love. I look forward to giving you peace of mind and your pets the best care possible! Pet care is a very important part of my every day routine. As I have a lab of my own, I am well practiced in the daily regimen of walks, potty-breaks, play-time, nap-time, (Kirby's favorite) meal-time, and so forth. It brings me so much joy to help take care of our sweet companions! I live right by duke forest which is where i love to go on dog-walks. I can easily crate your dog if needed. I will always keep an eye on your fur baby's water bowl and make sure they are healthy and safe.

Kat was wonderful. When she had a question she was not afraid to reach out for clarification. Our cats were well fed and cared for and she brought our trash cans in without asking! I would trust her with my cats again.

Brooke was very professional and caring. She went above and beyond with terrible weather, tree falling on house, and kitty who hid, She was able to handle the unexpected and the worrisome. Brooke cleaned the floor in our bedroom that had debris from the fallen tree to prevent the kitty from eating the pieces of wood and plaster. Kitties were well fed and cared for. I would highly recommend Brooke.

This was our first time using Rover and Miyu was amazing! We were nervous about leaving Loki home alone for the first time, but she made everything so easy. She even showed us how to use the app and kept us updated with super detailed notes and pictures after each visit. Miyu was great with giving Loki his meds, taking him on walks, and making sure he got plenty of attention. We could tell he was in good hands the whole weekend. Came home to a happy pup! Definitely recommend her and will book again.

About: Hello! I am 38, been in Durham since 2013, and I have lived with several friends who had dogs, so I got my start taking care of them when our human housemates were out of town. One of those longtime housemates is a certified dog trainer who had three dogs when we lived together, so I learned a lot from them about dog care and behavior! In my mid 20’s, I was referred to a friend’s parents for overnight dog sitting. I ended up loving it and have been dog sitting for them for 10+years. I’ve also taken care of their three adult children’s pets when they’re on vacation many times, proving that they trust me with their whole family 💜 Three of the dogs I have taken care of have been seniors with medications, special diets and/or needs, such as more frequent potty breaks, or help getting up and down stairs. I enjoy spending special time with those elderly family members. Since then, I have been referred to several other people for overnight stays. I have a few regular clients whose cats and dogs I stay with as well. I grew up a cat person, rescuing and raising kittens from a feral cat colony in our neighborhood. We had six of our own throughout the years who all lived to be between 18-22 years old! I have also taken care of chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs several times. I love to garden and take care of plants, as I have worked on a couple farms for several years and currently live with someone who owns a landscaping/garden business 🌱 I am currently in between jobs while pursuing a new career. Previously, I have managed catering companies for the last 10 years. While I am job hunting, I am very flexible to spend as much time as needed with your pet! When I am staying with a new dog, I make sure to use the owners’ commands, following their instructions to a ‘T’. I believe that dogs can sense when someone isn’t comfortable with them, so I try to establish a trusting relationship where the dog will respect me while also feeling calm with me, during the time when their person isn’t home. I would love to have repeat clients in order to build a longer relationship with them. It always feels so good when I show up to a client’s house and their pet is as excited to see me as I am to see them💖

Kate took care of my fur family while I was out of town. I was often worried about them, but Kate put my mind at ease by providing me with regular check ins on how everyone was doing. Kate sent photos of my cats showing that she spent time with them. Seeing them sitting on her lap brought me so much peace. I looked forward to receiving the photos of them she sent! Thanks, Kate!

Ruth was a wonderful sitter for our cats while we were away on vacation! She left us fun and detailed notes about the visits that were truly appreciated. She seemed to really understand our cats needs and personalities in order to offer exceptional care. She was kind, responsive, and sent adorable photos of the cats as well. She even brought in our mail and was attentive to clean the cat’s dishes. We will definitely be reaching out to her for future vacations!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Willow Ridge. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
