Anabella has been great. She is attentive to the dogs and has patience with one of our pets that takes a long time to warm up to others. We’ve had a scheduled routine and she’s very reliable.

Tanya goes above & beyond for my dogs, it’s so wonderful knowing they’re in great care! I have polar opposite dogs, an older, tiny yorkie with lots of needs, and a younger, energetic lab who’s very extra. She handles both of them amazingly in the same visits & I’m always thrilled to book with her again. Definitely reach out to her, you won’t regret it!

Amanda is a fantastic dog walker and partner in helping to train our dogs. She worked to understand where we were at with training our dogs and helped to complement that with the time she spent walking and gave us great suggestions on improving our own training.

About: I've been caring for dogs and cats since I was a child and have experience with pets of different ages, sizes, and personalities. Growing up around animals taught me how to provide attentive care, including feeding, walking, playtime, administering basic care, and making sure pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and treat every pet as if they were my own. My goal is to provide dependable, loving care and give pet parents peace of mind. I have experienced with administering medications, anxious, and reactive pets. Pet care has always been a natural part of my daily life. I enjoy spending time with animals and make time each day to feed, walk, play, and provide companionship. My schedule is flexible enough to accommodate pet visits and walks while maintaining a consistent routine, so pets receive the attention and care they need. I prioritize each pet's safety and comfort by carefully following the owner's instructions and maintaining their normal routine. I make sure doors, gates, and windows are secure, keep potentially harmful items out of reach, and closely monitor pets during walks and playtime. I also pay attention to each pet's behavior and needs so they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while their owner is away.

Dana is a life-saver! She took great care of my two young labs with medical needs the first time I had to leave them home alone. She was very communicative, easy to work with, and went the extra mile to keep the boys safe and happy. Knowing that she was checking on them gave me peace of mind while I had to be away.

About: Worked with Dogs and Cats both young and old. Along with a small range of farm animals like chickens and goats. Additionally I have works with some more unique pets like chinchillas. I have also done so house sitting off and on for a few years. Currently working part time over the summer so have more than enough time at all times throughout the week. I am free pretty much 24/7 all day every week but tend to like one day notice of booking. I have a small back yard that’s fenced in and more than enough space both within and outside my house. I also can let them out, feed, play, whatever they need if ever or whenever you would like me to go to your house.

About: I have hands-on experience caring for both a Labrador Retriever and a Bichon Frisé, giving me a strong understanding of different personalities, energy levels, and care needs. From keeping an active Lab engaged with walks and playtime to providing gentle attention for a Bichon, I’m comfortable balancing both high-energy and more sensitive dogs. I’m attentive, patient, and committed to making every pet feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I am a graduate student at Chapel Hill who is taking the summer off and only working Monday and Wednesday from 8-1, therefore, making my schedule very flexible! For drop-in visits and dog walking, I focus on creating a safe, calm, and consistent experience for every pet. During drop-ins, I follow your pet’s usual routine as closely as possible—feeding, refreshing water, potty breaks, playtime, and any specific care instructions you provide. I always make sure doors, gates, and crates are secure before leaving, and I keep a close eye on your pet’s behavior and well-being. For dog walks, safety is my top priority. I use secure leashes and harnesses, stay aware of surroundings, and choose safe, pet-friendly routes. I adjust the pace and length of walks based on your dog’s energy level, age, and needs. I also avoid unsafe weather conditions and make sure your dog stays hydrated and comfortable. In both services, I treat your home with respect, keep things clean, and provide updates so you can feel confident your pet is in good hands.

Rosa was amazing watching Moose. She walked her three times a day for several days and administered her food and medication without any issues. Rosa sent a photo and update with every walk, which gave us so much peace of mind. Moose was clearly well cared for, and we would highly recommend Rosa and book her again.

My schedule is quite open currently and I would love to spend time with animals of all kind! I'm currently teaching part time (T/Th 930-12pm). Otherwise, my schedule is quite open for dog walks, dog/cat visits, and other fun stuff! I will always be very diligent with any pet care issues. My partner works at a vet, therefore, I have quick access to help and am able to ask them questions regarding any animal health issues.

About: I grew up taking care of my family dog that we had for 13 wonderful years. I have been dog sitting for many years and have also volunteered at animal shelters in the past. My partner and I own a home in Hillsborough, where we have a large, fenced-in yard for our own pups, Reggie and Echo, to enjoy. Reggie is excitable and has a loud voice, and though he doesn't always know how to contain that energy, he's a lovebug who just wants to play with anyone and everyone. We've had a number of dogs here to stay with us, including a 12-week-old puppy, and he loves them all! We recently got him a little sister, Echo. After a 2-hour adjustment period, they were fast friends and snuggling as they napped! She's also a sweetheart and is working on learning good manners. Reggie and Echo spend most of their time traipsing around the back yard and napping in the sun. I work from home, so your dog can get plenty of supervised playtime! I can also send plenty of pictures during your little one's stay if you'd like! Let me care for your sweet pup when you are away from home! I work from home full time, so your dog and mine will have plenty of supervised care and time to play and explore the backyard! We live on an acre, and the back half is completely fenced in with a 5 ft fence to keep all pups safe and contained!

Alessandra is great dog walker. She understands my dog very well and takes the time to give him extra love and not just walk him. The updates are very thorough and she communicates so well with everything that’s going on. I’m really glad that I was able to find a really trustworthy and patient person like Alessandra.

Missy has been walking my dog every day for 2 years and cannot sing her praises enough! Not only does my dog love her, but so do all of my neighbors and their dogs. Sadly, we are moving away and it gives me no pleasure saying goodbye to Missy. Willa and I are incredibly grateful for Missy and her kindness!

  • 90% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
