“Wonderful folks! Very kind sweet family who I felt really confident with and it seems like my dog had a good time. Sent me pictures and kept me reassured on my vacation. Will definitely consider their services again!”

“Ria was outstanding! Ria was easy to communicate with and responded quickly. Very loving and playful with our dog and our dog loved having Ria! Would highlight recommend! Recommend so much we are going to book Ria again for our upcoming spring vacation! Thank you Ria!”

“Claire did a great job caring for our 9-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy while we were out of town for five days. This was our first time leaving him, and she made the experience stress-free with her excellent communication. She sent regular updates and pictures, which gave us great peace of mind. When we returned, our pup was happy and well cared for, and the house was spotless. I would absolutely recommend Claire to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!”

“Kate is very caring and helpful. Top notch dog sitter and easy to communicate with. Very much appreciated that she filled in last minute. Highly recommended, and I'll book with her again.”

“Alessandria did a great job keeping my dogs safe and happy. I appreciate that she was able to be flexible on times as I wasn't sure with the weather if we were going to make it back on time. The house was left neat and tidy, and she helped prepare for a bad winter storm coming.”

“Felt very comfortable leaving Spencer with Cassie. He responded positively to her and she to him. The pictures she shared were appreciated letting us know all was well. We will certainly hire Cassie again.”

“Sophia is an excellent pet sitter! She has experience with senior dogs and I could tell when I met her that she would be the perfect sitter and companion for my two pups while we were away — I was not wrong! She followed my care instructions closely and provided consistent updates throughout the stay — I could tell the dogs were comfortable and happy with her from the photos she shared. She also left my house clean and tidy. I would absolutely hire Sophia again — she’s fantastic! Thank you so much, Sophia!”
“I highly recommend Aspen H. for dog/house overnight sitting! She just sat for our two dogs and did an excellent job. Aspen followed our instructions to the letter and had the extra responsibility with caring for our senior 13 year old. Our sheltie receives medication and has to be carried up and down the many steps to reach the backyard for bathroom breaks. Our shep mix has anxiety with thunderstorms and Aspen took this in stride. I was shocked to see that Aspen washed sheets and towels before leaving! Aspen had the patience with my welfare text checks and demonstrates warmth and understanding in her communication. She has a sweet humor and clearly loves animals. Thank you Aspen and Rover for making our trip possible!”

“Sia was an awesome pet/house sitter for our old hound and very shy cat. The house was clean and the pets were happy and healthy when we returned. Both animals have health issues and many meds to manage. Sia took care of everyone. Sia even drove to the vet to pick up a new prescription that our cat needed. Great communication and super helpful!”

“Natalie is awesome! My dog was immediately comfortable with her and I knew she was taking the best care of her while I was away. She sent me daily updates and pictures and everything was perfect when I got home. I would absolutely book with her again!”

“Mara was fabulous with Wags. She paid close attention to what he needed and how he was doing. Communication with her was easy from booking through the visit. Will definitely use her again.”

“Meg was awesome. Both of our cats and our dog immediately gravitated towards her. She left the house so clean it was wonderful to come home to. The pets were also nice and calm when we got home indicating they were very well taken care of while we were out of town. We told Meg that she could take our dog on a drive away from our apartment for extra enrichment and she went out of her way to do that! She genuinely loved our pets and they loved her right back.”

“Amy was amazing and I am confident she treated my 2 dogs and 2 cats better than I do. She got one of my dogs to chase a ball, which I have never been able to do. She stayed with mu furry clan and I returned to an immaculate house. I could not recommend Amy enough and will definitely request her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Blackwood
Grace did a good job sitting with our senior pets, who all have their special needs. One of our dogs was a little startled when she arrived, and she reached out to let me know, so we were able to work through it. They (2 dogs and 1 cat) all bonded with her and she had a successful pet sit with us. She tried to understand their routines and reached out with questions. They clearly loved hanging out together with Grace from the pictures she shared over the four days she was with them. When we arrived home, our pets were relaxed and she had left the house in good order, which is always appreciated.

Tanya took great care of our dog, Greta. She is a bit anxious usually but was instantly comfortable with Tanya who obviously knows how to connect with animals. Tanya took great care of our house as well and left it sparkling clean. We appreciated the frequent updates & pictures she sent and won’t hesitate to book her again when we need dogsitting!!

I cannot say enough about how Skylar was available to home sit for us with short notice. This was our first time with Rover.com and I was so worried that we would not be able to go on a cruise to the Bahamas for the weekend. Me and my husband had a Meet & Greet with her at our home. Our dog Loki immediately loved her. Skylar's kind and loving demeanor and respect for dogs and people made me want to be a better dog owner. She allows Loki to be himself and that is how she is able to get him to listen when necessary. I had complete trust in her watching Loki. She was flexible and asked me if she could do anything differently or do more for me and Loki. She is a student and very intelligent and has worked with dogs for years. Acts of kindness and respect are not a thing of the past with her.

Abigail was a wonderful dog and house sitter! She is kind, responsible, and communicative. When we had a meet and greet, she asked several thoughtful questions. Our dogs were happy when we returned from our trip and our house was left immaculate. We wish Abigail lived near us all the time (she was home for the summer from college). We recommend her without any reservations!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Blackwood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Blackwood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Blackwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
