“Kelly was wonderful! She was so communicative with us, sending updates and photos, and left everything tidy when upon her departure. We felt very comfortable leaving Moose with Kelly.”

“Ria was amazing with our pup, Gunner, while she kept him company for a short sit in our home. She had Gunner so engaged with a toy that she brought over that we were able to quietly slip out the door without him noticing. For a dog who struggles with separation anxiety, that was quite the achievement! We received photos and updates throughout the night and our home was respected. We would not hesitate to use Ria again.”

“Claire stayed our home with 5 dogs, not an easy task, and did OUTSTANDING. Thank you Claire for watching our 2 dogs, and 3 foster dogs. We really appreciate your help, especially on short notice.”

“Kate is very caring and helpful. Top notch dog sitter and easy to communicate with. Very much appreciated that she filled in last minute. Highly recommended, and I'll book with her again.”

“This was my first experience using a house sitter with Penny. Bailey was great! I appreciated that I didn’t have to worry about Penny or my apartment at all, and loved getting pic updates of my girl. I would definitely rebook. Thanks, Bailey!”

“Sophia is an excellent pet sitter! She has experience with senior dogs and I could tell when I met her that she would be the perfect sitter and companion for my two pups while we were away — I was not wrong! She followed my care instructions closely and provided consistent updates throughout the stay — I could tell the dogs were comfortable and happy with her from the photos she shared. She also left my house clean and tidy. I would absolutely hire Sophia again — she’s fantastic! Thank you so much, Sophia!”
“I highly recommend Aspen H. for dog/house overnight sitting! She just sat for our two dogs and did an excellent job. Aspen followed our instructions to the letter and had the extra responsibility with caring for our senior 13 year old. Our sheltie receives medication and has to be carried up and down the many steps to reach the backyard for bathroom breaks. Our shep mix has anxiety with thunderstorms and Aspen took this in stride. I was shocked to see that Aspen washed sheets and towels before leaving! Aspen had the patience with my welfare text checks and demonstrates warmth and understanding in her communication. She has a sweet humor and clearly loves animals. Thank you Aspen and Rover for making our trip possible!”

“Syndi is a very nice young lady who got along really well with our 3 dogs and 4 cats. She did overnight stays with our fur babies. Cleaned up after herself wonderfully. I felt very comfortable leaving my precious pets with her.”

“Cassie took great care of our dog, cat, and home! She was very communicative with us and did great with our slightly anxious and high-energy puppy. We would absolutely book with her again!”
“Kim took great care of our pets while we were away! I appreciated her frequent updates and pictures. Never having to wonder how things were going made me feel at ease during our trip. Thanks, Kim!”

“Tram is the perfect pet sitter. We had a destination wedding and have only trusted family & friends to watch our sweet cat. Tram came over to meet our Cosmo and understood his needs (as he has FIC and doesn’t do well when we leave him). I felt so safe and secure having her stay at our apartment overnight. We came back to a sweet note and candle from her as well. Thank you again Tram!!! :)”

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs & cats since I was 17. It’s been my part time job ever since secondary school till my bachelor’s degree. I’m open up to do it full time now as currently I’m unemployed. Will be ok to do a full time sitter and part time too. I will primarily follow on how the client’s preference if I have to sit at their house. Back home here in Efland we have a huge compound for dogs to run and be free.
“Jen was an amazing house sitter and took great care of our two cats. She asked lots of great questions at the the meet and greet, helping us feel assured that she would take good care of our girls. She was communicative, sending lots of pictures and information about how they were doing. We came home to a clean and tidy home and two happy kittens. We would definitely hire Jen again!”

About: I've taken care of animals my whole life -- I grew up with 2-4 dogs in the house at any given time, and I've had my own cat Olive for 3 years now. I love to be around animals, and I'm excited to care for yours like they're mine while you're away! I'm prepared to meet your pet's needs where they're at, from providing multiple walks a day, or just being a calm presence in the room to ease loneliness. I'm working part-time at the moment, so I have plenty of time to take care of your pet, especially in the afternoons and evenings. I am also more than happy to accommodate for multiple visits per day. Safety, conscientiousness, and cleanliness are at the center of my pet care ethos. I'm happy to take in mail/packages, water plants, or do any other necessary tasks while you are away as well!
“Our mini golden doodle was well taken care of with Emi. She was responsible, responsive (sending pictures) and we came home to a cleaner house than when we had left. We would highly recommend Emi!”

“Savanna was amazing! She made sure Sunny got good exercise and sent us updates and pictures. She was on top of his medication and did a great job with him given his reactivity.”

“Chelsea was very communicative throughout the stay and sent multiple videos, which really helped me feel at ease. Knowing Sunny was safe, comfortable, and well cared for made a huge difference. I felt very secure leaving Sunny in her care and would absolutely book with her again!”

About: Hey there! My name is Kelly, and I’m an experienced pet lover with over 10+ years of hands on care for dogs of all ages, and cats! from energetic puppies to senior companions. I have two cats of my own (and a fish too!), so I truly understand how important it is to trust someone with your pets. As a full-time college student, I pet sit on the side to help pay off student loans, and I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. 🐾 I’m a full-time college student completing my classes online, which gives me a very flexible schedule. I’m available all week from morning to evening and can easily adjust my routine to fit your pet’s needs. I’m extremely organized, reliable, and always make sure each pet gets consistent, attentive care. 🐾 I live in a safe, pet-friendly apartment complex and have two cats of my own, so I’m very mindful of creating a calm, clean, and secure environment. I have space to comfortably care for another cat or a small dog, and I make sure every pet feels at home with their own designated area. There are also several great spots around my complex for walks and fresh air. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always respect their space and stick closely to your pet’s normal routine. I also offer cleaning services, including litter box maintenance, accident clean-up, and keeping feeding areas tidy, so your pet stays happy and comfortable. 🐾

I want to gatekeep Ria because she is the greatest, but I won’t! She is a skilled caretaker of dogs, kind and reliable, gentle on our animals and our home, easy to communicate with and overall highly recommended. Am already rebooking her for our next trip. Thanks Ria!

Madeline is awesome! She house sat/watched my dog on a holiday weekend - she is super responsive, sent pictures frequently, and took him on walks in the morning before it got too hot! She even washed the sheets before she left so I didn’t have to do anything when I came home. Would definitely recommend!

Thea took exceptional care of our Doberman, Clyde, while we were away for a long weekend. She kept us updated throughout our trip with multiple daily messages, along with plenty of photos and videos, which gave us great peace of mind. We recently moved and haven't fully unpacked yet, and Thea even went out of her way to buy Clyde some new toys. We truly appreciated her thoughtfulness and the excellent care she provided. We would happily trust her with Clyde again!
Our two dogs loved Christina and she did a great job with them. Christina stayed in our home to take care of our girls. She was very conscientious and responsive. We had trouble with our flight returning and Christina was a big help. She stayed and fed our girls so we didn’t have to worry about them while we were waylaid by our airline. I would 100% recommended Christina to my friends and family.

Aspen was amazing. We were in from out of town for my son's wedding and our schedule was crazy. Aspen was so accommodating for our frequently changing times of arrival and leaving. The dogs were so comfortable with her. She is kind and smart and just the kind of person you want caring for your loved 4 legged family!!!

Sophia is an excellent pet sitter! Thank you so much, Sophia!
Olivia looked after our two 9 months-old kittens for almost 2 weeks while we were traveling. This was our first time leaving the cats for this long, but with Olivia we had a complete peace of mind. She is extremely responsive, considerate and absolutely LOVES animals! Olivia sent us multiple photos a day, putting our minds at ease that their bellies were full and they received lots of pets and cuddles 😁 I really can’t recommend Olivia enough!!

Lauren was absolutely amazing! Throughout the entire process, she was super communicative, thoughtful, and caring towards our boy. He warmed up to Lauren very quickly and we felt very comfortable knowing he was getting attention and care while we were away. I highly recommend Lauren and plan to reach out to her again in the future!
What an amazing experience. Grace is attentive, responsible, and communicate regularly. I was so relieved to have her sit for my fur babies. It was such a wonderful experience I will definitely continue to have her come take care of my beloved four legged fur babies. Highly highly recommend her.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Carrboro on Rover is $53.28 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 2,862 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Carrboro. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Carrboro walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Carrboro maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Carrboro choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
