Claire did a great job caring for our 9-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy while we were out of town for five days. This was our first time leaving him, and she made the experience stress-free with her excellent communication. She sent regular updates and pictures, which gave us great peace of mind. When we returned, our pup was happy and well cared for, and the house was spotless. I would absolutely recommend Claire to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!

About: As a dog owner myself, I know how important it is to find someone you trust. I am currently raising an energetic, lab puppy that keeps me on my toes - with daily walks, playtime, and plenty of training. Through her, I’ve gained firstshand experience with the patience, consistency, and energy that dogs need to thrive. Before welcoming my lab, I cared for my previous large-breed dog through every stage of her life, from adulthood into her senior years. She lived to be 14 years old, giving me experience with the slower pace, extra attention, and gentle care that older dogs often need. Whether your dog loves long adventures, a leisurely neighborhood walk, or simply some extra companionship during the day, I'm happy to tailor each visit to their individual needs. Safety, communication, and reliability are my top priorities. I'll always treat your home and your pet with respect, follow your care instructions closely, and send plenty of photos and updates so you know your dog is happy and well cared for while you're away. I'm comfortable with dogs of all sizes and personalities and understand that every dog is different. My goal is to make each walk or visit a positive, stress-free experience—for both you and your pup. I can't wait to meet you and your best friend! I am currently home during the day and available 24/7 to help care for your pup! I am happy to go on long walks outside or play with toys inside. I currently live in a condo with my 4 month old lab puppy, so I am experienced navigating potty breaks in apartment settings and finding the best trails outside!

About: I've been caring for animals since I was 10 years old, and over the years, friends and neighbors have trusted me with the special care of their beloved pets. For over a year, I worked in a lab-like setting providing daily care to a wide variety of exotic animals, including reptiles, amphibians, small mammals and birds. My responsibilities included feeding, cleaning, and general husbandry for each species. I also have experience caring for senior animals, including administering medication and performing nail trims, so I'm comfortable with pets who need a little extra attention and care. I currently work part-time and am finishing up my Associate's degree, which gives me a good amount of flexibility during the week to care for your fur babies. On days I work an 8-hour shift, there may be a slightly longer gap between potty breaks, but I always plan ahead and communicate clearly so you know exactly what to expect. Providing consistent, quality care for your animals is a top priority for me, no matter my schedule. When I care for your pets in their own environment, I bring nothing but comfort and love. I give excellent cuddles and scritches, and genuinely enjoy enriching their day with play. I know when to be calm and reassuring, and when to be playful and energetic, adapting to match each pet's unique personality. Every animal I care for receives quality, individualized attention tailored to exactly what they need. Above all, you can count on me to be reliable and consistent, every single time.

About: I have been pet sitting dogs (of all sizes and with various abilities and health concerns) and cats since I was 9. I have two cats of my own in Briar Chapel, so I cannot take animals into my own house. However, I am in close proximity to all Briar Chapel homes, making it easy for me to drop by and feed or walk your animals. I am willing to stay overnight in your home if that is what you would prefer. Walking is my favorite exercise, and I'm happy to take your dogs for long walks, regardless of the weather. I have received medical and behavioral training (as a clinical psychology student), which could make me a good fit for animals with health or behavioral concerns. I also am happy to take care of any other animals you may have, as I have experience with frogs, turtles, snakes, and fish. I also have a big car, so I can take animals to the vet or to other places around town if you need it. I have an extremely flexible schedule. I can come take care of your pets multiple times a day on weekdays and weekends. I am happy to visit your home at whatever times your preferred feeding and walking schedule requires. Lynsey was the best and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter! She watched my 2 cats overnight for 3 days while I was away, and I'm so grateful - they both loved her. One of my cats had some medical things recently and I was very nervous to leave, but Lynsey was amazing. She communicated so well the entire time and sent lots of pictures so I would know they were doing okay. She even stayed longer than she needed to so they would have some extra company. She willingly followed a complicated feeding schedule, helped give one of my cats a probiotic, and played with them SO much! She even left everything spotless and started the laundry for me with her used linens before leaving the last day. She's seriously amazing, and I would book again. Thank you, Lynsey!

Ryan was great with our pup Ember! She spent a lot of time at our house which we loved because our dog is used to having someone at home most of the day. We came back to a happy, healthy pup and our home was just as clean as we left it. Our dog is slightly high maintenance and requires daily medicine and 3x/day feedings and Ryan was able to handle both of those things with ease. Will definitely use Ryan again in the future!

FAQs for House Sitting - Fearrington

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Fearrington on Rover is $72.15 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,912 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fearrington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fearrington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fearrington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fearrington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fearrington. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
