Anitra was so quick to respond! She would send me pup updates throughout the day. Seeing Sydney in a calm and loving place made my day easier knowing she was well taken care of and it was plus seeing the dog park right next to her home! Would highly recommended!!

Amanda’s property is great for my active dog. Brandy enjoys playing, running and Jumping and this property has it. Brandy played with many dogs and came home all tuckered out. I will be booking Brandy again soon. I would recommend.

Bubba had an amazing time with Adrien and David!! We were worried as first time, dog owners and with her being so young (10 weeks), but they made her first experience at doggy daycare seamless! Could not recommend them more highly!

About: I’ve cared for dogs all my life. They’ve been my favorite beings since childhood! I am primarily pet/housesitting at this time, but will also have some availability for boarding and daycare. Pets are always the top priority, attending to routines, walks, medications, and making sure they feel safe, relaxed, and loved while you’re away. I work from home, which allows for lots of quality time and attention. I have a special soft spot for and lots of experience with seniors! I also know that some dogs need a little time to warm up and am experienced with giving space and time to build trust. My 9-lb sweetheart dog is my amazing sidekick sitter. I only accept housesits where she is welcome. She is super chill, social, and adapts effortlessly into new environments. She has a knack for respecting social cues and making friends. I’m a new sitter on Rover, but regularly use other platforms for pet/housesitting - happy to provide links and references! Flexible remote work schedule, so lots of quality time and easy adherence to pet routines. I’m used to adapting my schedule to keep routines familiar, and my own dog goes almost everywhere with me. Our dog accompanies us on housesits. She loves all dogs, but due to her size and a tricky back knee, best fit will be calm and senior pets of any size or small high-energy dogs and pups. Housesits include light cleaning, plant watering, mail collection, and regular updates. Safety and communication are very important to me. As a dog mom, I know how much trust goes into allowing someone else to care for your beloved pet (and home) and I deeply respect and honor that. My goal is simple - that you return to a happy, well-loved pet and sparkling home.

What a great experience with Martine and her husband. They obviously made Bryce feel welcomed in their home … as by the second day he went straight to her front door and didn’t look back while I was leaving. Also want to “shout out” her willingness to be a bit flexible with the schedule … (I was meeting a friend locally and wanted to be able to enjoy Raleigh for dinner (which was awesome at The Plate). This pet sitting experience enhanced my visit to Raleigh !!!

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is the level of care, attention, and consistency I provide. I don’t just “watch” dogs — I take the time to understand their routines, personalities, and comfort needs so they feel safe and relaxed while you’re away. I intentionally limit the number of dogs I care for at one time, allowing for individualized attention, a calm environment, and plenty of affection. In our home, dogs are surrounded by love — including from my daughter, who genuinely enjoys helping care for them and gives them extra cuddles, playtime, and attention. With regular updates, clear communication, and genuine care, every dog is treated like family — never just another booking. Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily routine because I work from home full-time. This allows me to be present throughout the day for walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship—rather than leaving dogs alone for long stretches. I also have a small Yorkie at home, which helps keep our daily schedule consistent and structured, from regular potty breaks to walk times and meals. We’re lucky to have a nearby dog park that we walk to daily, giving dogs regular exercise, fresh air, and social enrichment as part of their routine. This established rhythm creates a calm, predictable environment where dogs can settle in quickly, while I remain available to supervise, respond to needs, and provide plenty of affection throughout the day. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their established routines as closely as possible to minimize stress, including feeding schedules, walks, medication, and preferred play or rest times. I treat each home with respect and provide regular updates, photos, and clear communication so pet parents have peace of mind. In both settings, pets are cared for with patience, affection, and individualized attention—never rushed and never treated like just another booking.

Vincent was very accommodating and responded quickly to my last minute request. He came out to greet us and the pups were comfortable with him immediately. He was very friendly and made sure everyone was harnessed and leashed for the short trip from the car to the fence. He has a nice fenced area for them to play and sent cute videos and photos. The pups appeared to have a great time and especially enjoyed their playtime with his two dachshunds! I will definitely use him again for daycare and drop-in visits.

About: We’re an active, dog-loving couple who miss having a furry friend around - so we put all that energy into the pups we host. We raised a golden retriever for over 12 years, through eight different homes, which taught us how to stay flexible and make any space feel like home for a dog. We’ve also cared for the fur-babies of our friends and family over the years, so medium and large breeds are totally our comfort zone. Carleigh works from home every day, and John is home four days a week, meaning your dog gets tons of attention, playtime, and company. We’re not ready for a new pup of our own yet, but we love having short-term four-legged guests to spoil. Pet care fits naturally into our daily routine because one of us is almost always home, so your dog will get tons of attention, supervision, and company throughout each day. We love taking breaks to go on walks, play outside, or just hang out with a furry friend while we work. Since we’re already active and outside often, adding a dog to our routine is fun and effortless. We treat every dog like a temporary member of the family. Our home is clean, calm, and set up to be dog-friendly, especially for medium and large breeds. We pay close attention to routines, instructions, and any quirks or preferences your dog has. We’re big on communication - you’ll get updates, photos, and messages so you always know how your pup is doing. Whether it’s play time, relaxing, or sticking to their normal schedule, we make sure your dog feels safe, comfortable, and cared for from the moment they arrive.

Amanda has been a blessing. I am new to the area and have travel hour and work hours issues that she has graciously accommodated. My pup is also a Cushings and she follows his eating protocol. If you’re in need of a sitter immediately she is very reliable. Thank you Amanda!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 1,140 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across University. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your University commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 1,140 sitters in University, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
