“Amanda has made our trips out of town so much easier not having to worry about our three dogs! We picked them up yesterday and she had made three little stockings for them with names in glitter! And they all were full of treats . I can not recommend Amanda enough!!”

“Camila & Lilo were great hosts to our puppy Cooper. They gave me updates and sent pictures. I didn't have to worry about a thing while I was away, and I am glad he could run outside in their backyard, especially since we dont have one and Cooper loves the outdoors. We definitely would book them again to watch our furbaby.”

“Knowing someone will love your fur baby as much as you do is a huge relief when you have to be far away. Daily pics and updates were great and just what I needed. My fur baby returned happy, healthy, and tired from having so much fun. Thank you Anitra!”

“I truly cannot put into words how amazing Evie and Fritz are as dog sitters. My dog, Bean, absolutely adores them, which was very evident from all the photos they sent of her cuddling with them and playing with them and the other pups at their house. I’m so happy I found them and will be bringing Bean here any time I need a sitter. Thank you, Evie and Fritz!!”

“Mary is fantastic! She took both my dogs for a week and they were cared for in a safe place with exercise, tons of snuggles, a beautiful fenced yard, and the company of her two friendly dogs. The easy communication with Mary and her easy going attitude makes you feel like you are leaving your dogs with a trusted friend you’ve known for years . This has been the most positive pet sitting experience I’ve ever had using Rover. Thank you Mary for looking after the doodles like your own.”

“I just picked Delilah up last night from an almost 10 day stay with Julie. This is only Delilah's second time ever staying with a stranger, and she came home in a great mood and seems to enjoy her stay with Julie which was a relief to my husband and I. While Delilah is an easy dog, she is a retired service dog and isn't used to staying with other people so the fact that she enjoyed her stay and came home happy meant the world to us. We would for sure use Julie again in a heartbeat. Thanks for taking such good care of Delilah!”

“Katherine & her family took amazing care of our pup Willow! We even booked with fairly short notice but they were so welcoming and gave Willow lots of love & attention. We will definitely book with Katherine again!!”

“Cathy was a wonderful sitter! She followed all our instructions, sent lots of updates and pics, and genuinely connected with our pup. We felt so good knowing our dog was in great hands. Would absolutely book with Cathy again!”

“Teresa was kind and accommodating, especially with our last minute request for a sitter! She took great care of our furbaby as evidenced by the happy demeanor of the regular photo updates and status. Our furbaby was instantly at ease with Teresa and we could tell that she would be treated just like she was her own. Highly recommend Teresa! 5 🐾 rating!”

“Randy was amazing!! He and my dog were so great together! I received plenty of pics and updates about our pup while we were away! Amazing sitter and really cool human! Will definitely reach out to him the next time we travel.”

“Savannah was very attentive to my dog and her needs! They were able to get my anxious lab-Pitt mix to relax and become comfortable with them and their pets (not an easy feat). I will definitely be booking with them again!”

“Ash was very happy to see me when I picked her up, which to me meant she had a GREAT time!!!! Lauren and family were wonderful and treated Ash as one of their own!?? I would have loved more pictures and more updates (gone eleven days), but that’s me (missed my baby). And it’s hard to find the “perfect balance” - - keeping owners informed and disturbing their vacation. However, ANY TIME I reached out to Lauren she was quick to reply and many times with pictures. Will use again!”

“Amanda was a dream. She helped me out when I had my days mixed up and was lovely with my pup. She was so gre At my pup didn’t want to leave. Would definitely recommend and rebook.”

About: Dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember! From my first mixed-breed pup in high school to raising my first Siberian Husky from just 3 months old, I've always loved caring for dogs. Honestly, I wish I'd known sooner that I could get paid to spend time with these amazing companions! I've house-trained my own furry babies and have loved watching them grow up alongside my hooman kiddos. Seeing the bond between them has been incredibly rewarding. Our home is full of love, and we can't wait to welcome your pup into it. Whether they enjoy long walks, playtime, or snuggling, they'll be treated like family and receive lots of love, attention, and care while you're away. I work from home and with both my kids now in school I have plenty of time to play and belly rub your fur babies throughout the day! I have a fenced yard with a friendly husky who loves to keep company to all hoomans and pups alike! I also have 2 kids who adore dogs—it’s a constant game of who gets who tired first. I can also easily crate your dog if needed.
“As always, we love having our dog stay there! She clearly has a blast every time, and it gives us so much peace of mind knowing she’s safe and well cared for.”

“Krystene and her family are awesome! My dog Wilbur has stayed with them twice now and we had a great experience both times. Wilbur can have a lot of separation anxiety, so it was amazing to see how comfortable he was with Krystene even after staying with her only once. Would definitely recommend Krystene!”

“Remi is an anxious dog but seemed to enjoy/was comfortable during her time at Julia’s! Julia sent a ton of pics each day so I was never worried about how she was doing. We’ll definitely be using her again! :)”

About: I have loved dogs since before my parents finally fulfilled my Christmas wish for a puppy when I was five. Since then, dogs have been a constant in my life and a crucial source of joy and fulfillment. Over the last decade I embraced the adult side of dog love by regularly dog sitting for friends and family and eventually adopting a dog of my own. Dogs have always been one of the best parts of my life and I look forward to meeting yours! I don't have a formal dog training certification, but I think my dog Rafiki would gladly give me one. I adopted Rafiki 7 years ago and he is wonderful. His special talents include spinning his tail like a helicopter and being the first dog that 'non-dog-lovers' actually enjoy. He was not always such a dream though. When he was a puppy he had all sorts of terrible habits that I won't get into (RIP tv remotes, shoes, untoppled drinks). I decided that I needed some help with this adorable rambunctious puppy and signed him up for day camp training with a trainer in Durham. Every day when I picked him up, the trainer would spend 30 minutes to an hour teaching me how to work with Rafiki. He taught me a million things and really opened my eyes on how interact with dogs, how to read their body language, and how to best communicate with them. Though I’m no expert, I’d be happy to reinforce any training or problem-solving you’re working on with your pup. I am also happy to just spend some quality time together making sure their time away from you is fun, safe and enriching. I would love the chance to take your pup on some walks and adventures while giving you the peace of mind of knowing they are in good hands! I have a flexible schedule that allows plenty of time for pet care. I like to stay active and enjoy hikes and walks with our furry friends. My dog is able to come in and out as he pleases. We have a fenced in yard (front and back) with plenty of room to play.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Rougemont
My girls had such a good time at David’s. Truly was like camp for them, getting to socialize as play with other dogs in his huge back yard! Even bigger bonus that they got to go swimming in his private fenced in pound. They gave home exhausted and happy. We will definitely be using David again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
