“Molly was great! We got plenty of updates and pictures throughout the day. One of our boys is slow to warm up and can be grumbly/barky with new people and she was very patient with him and both dogs seemed to have a great time!”

“Maria was amazing with our sweet baby Tasha. Our dog can be a bit shy but warmed up to Maria in no time! We received pics and video updates throughout her stay and Tasha was having a great time with Maria’s tiny dog pack. I would recommend Maria to anyone worried about leaving their dog behind, your baby will be in great hands!”

“Kersea did great! Amazing consistent communication and great pictures anytime I needed. And tobi loved being with her he looked comfortable with her. I truly appreciate the work and care she had for my boy. Id definitely bring him back to her when I need to go out of town again she did really good. She definitely has had care for animals before. Thank you kersea!”

“Millie had an absolute blast here! Great dog run outside and indoor sleeping area. Alex also took quite a bit of photos and was a great, prompt communicator”

“Dane watched Beau for an extended 9 day trip we took. He was communicative and sent photos of Beau having fun with other dogs. He was also very flexible with pickup times and allowed us to pick up Beau late.”

“Conrad loves staying with Marisol and Twinkie! We are a repeat boarder. Conrad has separation anxiety from my (consequence of working from home) but he goes right in to Marisol’s lovely home and is welcomed by Twinkie. Conrad spends his days napping, going for walks, napping, playing, and napping! Senior dog life!😉”

“What a wonderful host for our special needs pug - didn't have to worry at all that she gave him the very best care when we had to be away for a family emergency. I'm sure he'll miss his little vacation!”

“Kristin fit me in on super short notice, and was wonderful when it came to communication. It was amazing to know my skiddish, nervous dog had a safe place to run around and be himself while I was away!”

“Linda was wonderful and Nuggie was very well taken care of. She took him on frequent walks and provided updates throughout his stay. I would recommend and have my pets stay with her again without hesitation!”

“Rosa took excellent care of our daschund for a week while we were out of town. She was very loving and took Annie on walks and gave her plenty of cuddles. She sent pictures and videos to calm my nerves while I was gone. I will definitely use her services again!!”

“Jen was an amazing help! I needed very short notice boarding for my dog and she replied quickly and saved the day. Took really good care of my dog while I was out of town for the weekend and even provided pictures and text updates! Communication was easy and she responds quickly. I will certainly be boarding my dog with her again!”

About: Raised around dogs (and cats) and would love to care for your pets in my home or yours. Comfortable with senior dogs as well as others. I am retired and available any time. I would need a couple of days' notice, preferably. I live in an apartment with a beautiful dog-walking area and nearby parks to walk in. I no longer have pets of my own, having just lost my 17-year-old Rat Terrier. I am comfortable with all dogs and cats. I can administer medications and make sure they feel safe with me. I don't push, but let them come to me when they feel ready. Separation from you is anxiety-inducing, and I do my best to calm them and let them now they are not alone.
“Melissa and Kyle did a fantastic job watching over Storm for the weekend! They gave me updates and photos along the way and were flexible to accommodate an earlier than planned pick up! Thank you for extending your wonderful home and welcoming Storm as part of the pack :) Looking forward to his next stay!”

“Casey and Eric were so great with Banjo. Sent lots of updates and gave us peace of mind while we were away. We will book with them and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Des Moines
Kathy is everything you want in a dog sitter! My anxious, not-very-social dog has a new bestie....Kathy! He had a fantastic stay with photos sent to me of him zooming around the yard or cozy on the couch. We already schedule two more weekends and Mack is excited to return to his new friend, Kathy.

We “hit the jackpot” in finding Shannon & Bert! Our 9-year Bernedoodle (Griffey) is still a “puppy at heart” ..very active and excitable! To prepare for a week long stay, we did 3 days of daycare with Shannon & Bert. They kept us informed each day, and by the time our vacation arrived Griffey was accustomed to going there. Throughout our trip they put our minds at ease with their updates & photos! Knowing that Griffey was being so well cared for allowed us to thoroughly enjoy our trip! Griffey had his own little vacation with Shannon & Bert and (like us) came home happily tired! We highly recommend Shannon & Bert and will certainly book with them again!

Another wonderful stay for our pup with Erika!! She always goes above and beyond, sending photos and lots of detailed updates that show just how well she knows our girl. She truly loves Lyla like her own dog and makes our trips out of town completely worry free. Erika was extremely easy-going when our return flight was delayed by several hours, responding to my messages and updates quickly and keeping our pup for longer than planned!

Jenae is a fantastic, trusted sitter. She watched our nervous, shy dog during the 4th of July weekend, and it went very well. We got regular updates, and we were comfortable and assured leaving our pup with Jenae. This was our second time booking Jenae, and we'll choose her again the next time we're out of town.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in WA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
