“Eliana was absolutely amazing. My partner and I have a disabled fur baby with a number of special needs, and Eliana was incredibly diligent, asked all the right questions, followed our instructions closely, and took such great care of Miss Bean and our home. We came home to a happy, healthy pup and couldn’t have been more appreciative. I will absolutely be reaching back out for future travel plans. She was a dream to have stay with our fur baby!”

“They were AWESOME! Immediately we hit it off talking about our mutual interests. My dog gets a bit hyper but Levi was able to demonstrate techniques to calm him down and quickly. Once I left they sent me regular updates and I never had to worry about whether or not my kitten and dog were in good hands. I really appreciate the time and effort they put into making sure I was updated. I’ve never used Rover but I definitely will again. I also will definitely be using Levi. Thank you so much for everything!”

“We have 2 cats, one who has always done well with sitters and I knew would be fine, and one who had never been away from us and always hides when guests come over. Maired did great with both of them! She stayed in our house while we were out of town and by the end of her stay both cats were playing, cuddling, eating just like they would if we were there. Our whole goal with getting a sitter was to disturb their routine as little as possible and she did exactly that! We received daily updates and photos while we were away and came back to a clean, well kept home. Highly recommend!”

About: I am trained as a Certified Veterinary Technician that has given me the skills and knowledge to provide safe, attentive care. I’m better equipped to recognize potential health concerns, handle unexpected situations, and know when a pet may need veterinary attention. I truly love caring for animals and meeting new pets, taking the time to learn their unique personalities and needs. I’m patient, attentive, and dedicated to making every pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved while in my care. I currently work part-time at a veterinary clinic four days a week. Your pet must be okay with being alone during normal work hours, but otherwise I can provide plenty of companionship, care, and attention. I do not offer boarding in my home, but I am happy to provide house sitting in your home. I will treat your home with the same respect and care I would my own, leaving everything just as I found it.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Chicago
Zhanna was absolutely amazing with my cat, who is an Abyssinian cat. He can definitely be a handful, he’s extremely curious, energetic, and very demanding when it comes to attention but she handled him perfectly. She was patient, attentive, and genuinely engaged with him, and I could tell he felt completely comfortable with her. I really appreciated the updates and knowing he was getting plenty of attention and affection while I was away. I felt completely at ease leaving him in her care and would absolutely book with Zhanna again!
Allison was absolutely wonderful with our French bulldog and two cats. As protective pet parents, this was our first time leaving all three of them in someone else’s care, so naturally we were a little apprehensive. Allison immediately put us at ease by offering two consultation visits before our trip so she could thoroughly understand our pets’ individual needs, routines, personalities, and home environment. That level of preparation and genuine care meant a lot to us. Throughout our vacation, Allison was incredibly attentive and responsive. She arrived early and kept us updated with multiple messages and plenty of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear that she wasn’t simply checking in on our pets, but genuinely caring for them and making sure they were happy and comfortable. She even went above and beyond by offering thoughtful advice for our continued care of the pets, which we really appreciated. You can tell Allison truly loves animals and takes the responsibility of caring for them seriously. She also left the house tidy and in great shape. It was such a small gesture, but after coming home from a long trip, walking into a clean and tidy home made a bigger difference than she probably realized. We came home to three happy, well-cared-for pets and felt completely comfortable knowing they were in Allison’s hands. She helped make our vacation so much more enjoyable because we never had to worry about how things were going at home. We would absolutely recommend Allison and will definitely be using her services again. Thank you, Allison, for taking such wonderful care of our babies and allowing us to have such a relaxing vacation. We truly couldn’t have done it without you!

Eliana was absolutely amazing. She was a dream to have stay with our fur baby!

Danielle was amazing with my dogs! She was very patient, caring, and attentive to their needs. She kept me updated throughout their stay and sent plenty of pictures, which gave me great peace of mind. It was clear they were happy and well cared for. I highly recommend Danielle and will definitely use her again!

McKenzie is a stellar house sitter - she sent me daily updates about my pets while I was out of town and we both cheered when my very shy cats came out of hiding for her! She also left my home in spotless condition. I will absolutely book again for future travel. Thank you McKenzie!
Derek was great with my two German Shepherds! I have two older, German shepherds who are rescues-one has had separation anxiety in the past and the other needs daily medications. Derek was available on short notice and came over to meet them before staying at our place for three days. He sent regular updates and photos while we were away, and was very good at communicating. I could tell my dogs were at ease with him which gave me so much peace of mind! Would definitely recommend Derek!

We trusted Ann-Marie to care for our toy fox terrier Loki in our house for over a week. She did a wonderful job! When we got home, it was clear that Loki adores her—he was happy, relaxed, and sad to see her go. Ann-Marie adjusted perfectly to Loki’s schedule and sent us photos while we were away. She even took him on walks to new places that he loved. Most of all, Ann-Marie was a calm, reliable and trustworthy presence in Loki’s life for an extended period of time. We are extremely grateful. Thank you so much!!!

Gail did a phenomenal job caring for our Jasperboy! He needed medication and eye drops, and she handled everything with such care and attention that we never had to worry. She communicated regularly, kept us updated, and even sent pictures, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away on an international trip. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for pup. We highly recommend her and will definitely use her again! Already have other bookings scheduled with her. She is fantastic!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Chicago on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 7,757 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Chicago. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Chicago walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Chicago maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chicago choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chicago. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
