“Kristi took great care of my cat! She played with her and gave her lots of attention. She was very flexible and great with communication leading up to and during the home visits. She sent detailed summaries of each visit and sent a lot of videos and pictures.”

“Emily was great! She was reliable with our scheduled drop ins and Big George really appreciated her company. She also went above and beyond, cleaning up both the floor/carpet and Big George himself after a little dinkle-berry incident. Much appreciated! Would definitely recommend Emily!”

“Calvin was an amazing pet sitter and we will absolutely book with them again. He was very responsive, asked specific questions about our pets that showed his experience, and was incredibly easy to work with. It was clear that Calvin took the time to get to know our two cats and their personalities. His summaries and the pictures made us feel so much better about leaving for several days in a row. I highly recommend Monica and Calvin to anyone who wants a worry free vacation away from their fur children.”

“Michael is an excellent dog walker! He communicates efficiently and clearly, and it’s evident that he has a lot of experience with dogs. We reached out to him for dog walking services, and he had no trouble handling our 80 lb dog, even coming into the house to take her for her walks. We’ll definitely be reaching out to him again in the future. Thank you!”

“This is my second time working with Jozelin, and it was an absolute breeze! She does such a great job communicating throughout the day, and I completely trust that my cats are in great hands with her!”

“Amazing with our dogs and very flexible on dates and times. Got us out of scheduling jam ! Very communicative and responsive, would work with her again !”

“Andres took good care of my two cats; they looked happily fed and were sitting nicely in all the pics! He was also flexible with timing, which I appreciated.”

“Nadine was great! She was patient with my sassy cat and very communicative with me while I was on vacation. Would definitely use Nadine in the future.”

“Adriana has been a long time care giver for my various cats, a couple of whom have since received their angel wings. She has always been a caring and conscientious carer and even my most skittish kitties have emerged from their hidey holes on her first visit to make friends with her. Adriana sends really cute pictures and email updates.”

“Dom is a fantastic person to take care of your pets! She is very attentive, kind, and great with communication. I trust Dom coming into my home and looking after my cat. She follows instructions well, sends great photos and makes me feel at ease being away from my kitty! I will continue to book with Dom.”

About: I have long-time experience caring for cats, and have cared for them most of my life. I am also experienced with dogs; I work part-time at a dog daycare doing pet transportation, boarding, and watching the daycare, which includes walks, feeding, playtime, and medication administration. I am detail oriented and always put the pet's comfort as a top priority. I am currently between full time employment and graduate school, meaning my days are completely flexible. I can come as early as 7am and as late as 10pm. I take entering people's homes seriously and want to leave the space better than how I found it. I will bring some of my own supplies to increase bonding with the dog or cat.
“Polina is the best! This is our second time booking her to watch Harry and we will absolutely continue! Harry loves seeing her and always has the best time and is happy when we come home”

I follow pet owner’s care instructions carefully to ensure pets and their parents are happy!
“Magdalena was incredible! She kept me informed about how my cat Freeway was doing, was always responsive, and sent a lot of pictures (which made my day). Both Freeway and I were lucky to have her care — would 100% rebook.”

“Had an unexpected emergency and needed to leave town. Had a ton of anxiety signing up for Rover to have someone watch our Luna. Rachel did an amazing job! Was very communicative, sent the best photos and updates. 10/10 would recommend”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Chicago
Rachel was wonderful! She was incredibly responsive and communicative throughout our trip, and we felt completely comfortable knowing our cats were in good hands. We have four cats with very different personalities, ranging from extremely outgoing and in-your-face to highly suspicious of any new person’s intentions, and somehow they all seemed to really like and trust Rachel. That’s no small accomplishment in our house! We really appreciated the updates and how attentive she was with them. We came home to happy, well-cared-for cats and would absolutely recommend Rachel to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful pet sitter. We’d happily book with her again!

This was the fourth time Madeline did a drop-in visit for my cats and she was wonderful. She’s very communicative and sent some photos of her visit, gave my older cat her medication chew, and did everything as asked. Both of my cats love her! Thanks again, Madeline! :)

Rashna was great with my cats! They received tons of cuddles and play time. I appreciated that she took the time to send pics and videos throughout my trip and kept me updated. She also did a great job administering my cat’s oral medication, and making sure she was prepared before we left. Great pet sitter!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chicago. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
