“Ashley was great. We looked forward to her thorough visit updates and photos while she dropped in on our kittens while we were gone on vacation. Would definitely hire again”

“Andres was SUPER easy to work with and great with our very senior cat Elmer. When my husband and I are away, we kind of need someone who’ll allow us to not think about what’s going on at home and Andres did just that- made it easy to be away from our lil guy. Thank you!”

“Rachel was amazing and attentive checking in on my two cats! After having a previous sitter cancel on me last minute, Rachel saved the day being available at very short notice. She went above and beyond making sure that my boys had human company and were comfortable whilst I was out of town.”

“Great walker! Very reliable, punctual, and caring. My dog was happy and well taken care of, and I really appreciated the updates and photos during the walk. You can tell they genuinely love animals and treat them with care. I would definitely book again and highly recommend!”

“Yesenia was great! From the first meet and greet, we could tell that our cat was comfortable with her, and she’s usually pretty skittish with new people. The regular visits and accompanying pictures were a huge relief while we were away. We’ll definitely ask for Yesenia again next time we’re out of town.”

“Jenna was amazing. She took great care of my kiddos and kept me up to date with all their goings on. All my babies loved her (not as easy of a feat as you would think). I count myself lucky to have had her taking care of the fur babies while I was away.”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Chicago
Linh is attentive, responsive, and overall a fantastic cat sitter. She took notes of all the care requirements, followed them perfectly, provided detailed updates with lots of pictures, and tried her best to give my cat attention and play time even though he's shy with strangers. Would highly recommend!

Paola was SO fantastic taking care of our cat Banjo for an extended time. She sent a ton of pictures every visit and was extremely communicative throughout making it so easy to feel comfortable being away from him!!! Could not have asked for a better sitter. She’s the best.
Andres was amazing with our very difficult cat. He tried to play with her every day and by the end of the week she was actually engaging in play with him! We never thought that that would happen. We really appreciate all the care and time that Andres put in to make Evie feel at home.

Ning was wonderful with my cat! She was punctual, responsive, and took great care of everything. I really appreciated the updates and how reliable she was throughout the visit. I had a great experience and would definitely rebook with her again. Highly recommend!
Zhanna was so sweet toward our Babybean while we were away for the weekend. She spent so much time with him and kept us regularly updated; she was professional and prompt with her communication and was pleasant to work with. Glad we trusted our pet with the right person!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chicago. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
