About: Hi! I’m Emily — a dependable and caring animal lover based in Chicago. I’ve had medium to large dogs my whole life, so I’m very comfortable handling different energy levels, personalities, and needs. I also volunteer at PAWS Chicago, where I spend time caring for and working with dogs of different temperaments. This has given me experience reading dog behavior and helping them feel safe and comfortable in new environments. I currently don’t have a dog of my own at home, which allows me to give my full attention to the pets I’m caring for and be flexible with scheduling. My family dog Bella likes to come for a visit here and there for a few days in a row. She will not be with on our walks or home visits. I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and house sitting, and I’m happy to adjust to your dog’s routine, energy level, and personality. Whether your dog needs a long walk, playtime, or just some company, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I’m very responsive, detail-oriented, and will keep you updated with photos and messages so you always know how your pet is doing. I treat every pet like they’re my own and aim to make the experience stress-free for both you and your dog. Feel free to reach out with any questions — I’d love to meet you and your pup! I work in education so during the school year Monday-Friday I am free after about 4pm. I open on the weekends. During June-August I have a free schedule I provide a safe, calm, and attentive environment whether I’m in your home or out on walks. I always follow each pet’s routine closely, including feeding, walking, and any specific instructions you provide. I’m experienced with medium to large dogs and comfortable handling different energy levels and personalities. I prioritize safety on walks by using secure leashing and staying aware of surroundings, and I always make sure pets feel comfortable and cared for. I’m also very communicative and will send regular updates and photos so you feel confident while you’re away.
About: I've always had a sweet spot for pets. I took care of and trained my childhood dog for 6 years, and now I'm doing the same for my current dog. I've taken care of my friends' dogs when they are away. In addition, I have been training my own dog with a professional trainer, which allowed me to better understand and manage dogs during walks and plays in the park. I'm a graduate student that always takes time to walk my dog. During weekends, I mostly work from home or have more time to walk around the neighborhood and go to the parks. I have harnesses if your dog needs them for a more comfortable walk. My dog is really friendly and adapts to the energy level of other dogs, to make them feel comfortable and also helps them to socialize.
“My cat was a lot of trouble, and not at all interested in being left with a cat sitter. Cael was dedicated and tried so hard to make him happy and comfortable. She responds to texts quickly and honestly. When it became obvious that he wasn't doing well, she advised that I return as soon as I could. She truly cared for his health and well-being. I would hire her again in a minute--though I am guessing she would not be anxious to have such a stressful sitting job again. Thank you, Cael.”

This is the 2nd time I’ve had Rachel take care of my cat Mercurio while I was away + could not recommend her more. She provided timely updates, lots of photos, + detailed notes and even alerted me when she noticed a change in his litter schedule/when he was not feeling so good. Very thankful for the extra care she gives consistently! 🙃

Excellent sitter in every way!!! Yingyue is very knowledgeable in understanding and taking care of small breeds. I have tried three different sitters prior to finding Yingyue - all were very nice but none demonstrated sufficient understanding in my dog's body language. I was very impressed by Yingyue and grateful that I finally found a sitter that I can fully trust. Not to mention the photos she sent me are so cute!! They're going on my Instagram.

My husband and I recently moved into our new home days before we left for an international trip. We were really worried about finding a new sitter, but Dara was amazing! She is reliable, flexible, and communicative. We could tell through photos how comfortable our kitties were with her. We especially loved seeing Dara point out personality traits of our cats because it showed of attentive she was. We would absolutely book with Dara again!

Krista was fantastic with Zoe! She was energetic, friendly, and clearly loves dogs. She was also very flexible with scheduling, which made everything so easy. Zoe was happy and well cared for after every walk, and I really appreciated Krista’s reliability and communication. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, attentive, loving, and dependable dog walker. 🐶💗

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
