“Jaclyn was super prompt in her responses, kind, and super sweet for my dog! Communication was excellent, and she made sure that Billie not only was taken care of but that she met her social and physical exercise for the day with enrichment time at the farmers market! I would definitely rebook her again and recommend Jaclyn to anyone!”

“Steven is a great dog sitter! Our dog Moose gets excited every time he gets to hang out with them. Steven is very communicative and easy to work with, would highly recommend!”

“We were visiting Chicago for a graduation and left our young golden retriever with Jennifer and her family. They have a nice yard set up and there were other dogs there for her to play with. They sent a video each day, which we appreciated, as well. Thank you!”

About: Having my own dog, I know first hand that dogs are precious family members who need a lot of love and care and, and each dog had different needs. I have had my own dog for 3 years and previously cared for many of my friends’ and relatives’ dogs. I have training experience having gone through classes with my own dog. I am excited to meet new dogs and make sure they are happy and healthy while in my care! I currently work from home and I can be flexible throughout the day Mon-Thurs , but evenings or early mornings work best for me. I can also be flexible on Fridays and weekends. I have a friendly dog who likes to play but also understands when other dogs need space. I can crate my dog or set up the baby gate to keep them separated if needed.
“Dayana is always so quick to respond to bookings, despite last minute requests. She is always keeping me updated throughout using video. Kitty loves going over because there is usually others dog she can play with. So happy we found Dayana!”

“Porkchop got along with Domino and Pippy very well. I dont think he wanted to leave. First Friday ever, has Porkchop slept through the night and let me sleep in until 830 am instead of the usual 5 am. So thankful. Definitely using Hillary, Domino, and Pippy again.”

“Nathan watched our dogs on three separate days while visiting the Chicago area and we couldn’t have found a better fit for our two dogs! We really appreciate the time you spent with them on their walks and looking after them. Thank you so much Nathan! We had such a great time and if we’re ever back in the city we will definitely get a hold of you.”

About: I’ve been sitting and fostering pets for a long time, from taking care of stray cats while living abroad and living with a Rottweiler! I love taking long and frequent walks with dogs, and since I have a lot of patience, I’m really good with puppies. I’m also very attentive and experienced with senior pets, I always make sure to stay alert of any changes in their behavior and great with following their medication schedule. I have a full time job, but I am able to take dogs into my dog friendly office! I usually go in 3-5 days a week, and my place of work is only a short walk away. I am available for boarding after 5 on weekdays and I’m very flexible around the weekends. I live in a very pet friendly apartment building, with a dog park right next to me! I always give at least 4-5 walks a day for dogs, and there’s plenty of space for both a dog and a cat in my apartment. To keep promoting good behavior, I’ll try not to let your pet on my couch or bed if that’s what you would expect of them in your house.
About: As experienced dog sitter, I’ve discovered that taking care of other people’s dogs has become a beloved hobby. Unfortunately, we can’t have a dog of our own right now, but that makes looking after other’s dogs all the more special. I recently moved from Amsterdam to Chicago. In Amsterdam I used a similar app called “petbnb” and dog sitted a lot of dogs. Here, I love going for walks and discover the city with the dog. Whether you are going away for a short or long time, I’ll warmly welcome your dog, give them plenty of love, and provide them with a temporary home 💕 I look forward to meeting your dog! Flexible and hybrid working from home and office! So I can decide for every week when I will work from the office and when not. Give them the attention they need. And I would make sure they don’t do anything different from what they were taught. And doing lots of walks!
About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 12. I have had my sweet girl Luna for 6 years now. From medications to vet and groom visits to training to just zoomies and play. She’s my babe. I work a night schedule currently Sunday night to Thursday night , and I am available during the day to pick up or meet you to grab your pet or pet sit and return them to you or meet you or pet sit later in the day. I keep my home dog proof, we all know how they can be, as well as cats. I also know signs for when a dog isn’t feeling well and cats. I’m very observant. They truly are our children.
“It was super easy to schedule daycare with Lech & Briseida and they were really understanding when I was running late picking Nala up. Nala had a great time with them and came back tired :)”
“Ruben was amazing to help me with a last minute request for my senior dog who loss the use of his legs the day before. His kindness was very appreciative.”

“Katie was wonderful. She took great care of Kura and even gave her a bath when Kura decided to take a little jump in a mud puddle. Will definitely book with her again”

“Took great care of our dog Alfie! Accommodated a last minute sitter request, which was much appreciated. She had great communication and made sure Alfie had a comfortable stay. Would definitely use again!”

“I had the pleasure of having Emily watch my beloved pup, Izzy, through Rover, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the experience. Emily's care and attention to Izzy were exceptional. She treated Izzy as if she were her own, and it was evident that she genuinely loves dogs. Emily also kept me updated with messages throughout Izzy's stay, which was a thoughtful touch that put my mind at ease. I highly recommend Emily to anyone in need of a caring and responsible dog sitter. She provides a loving and safe environment for your furry family members, making it easy to enjoy your time away without any worries.”

About: I'll treat your fur baby as my own! I grew up with dogs and desperately want my own one day, but with travel, I'm enjoying the flexibility of dogsitting. I work full-time and I mostly work from home except for every-other Wednesday, so I'll have plenty of time to play with your pup! On week nights I like to go for walks and hang out with friends- if your dog is social, I'd love to bring them along. I live in a condo with front yard and back yard spaces, and there's a dog park within walking distance. In my home, dogs are allowed wherever they choose (besides my bed because I get the sniffles). So much love and attention will be given. I will take your pup on walks or potty breaks as often as needed, anytime!

Samantha is a true dog whisperer! Lily was so comfy and happy practically immediately with Samantha and her dog, Rosie. You can tell she really enjoys what she does and has a high understanding of dogs, their unique personalities and idiosyncrosies. She is also reliable and communicative. Highly recommend.

Jaclyn was super prompt in her responses, kind, and super sweet for my dog! Communication was excellent, and she made sure that Billie not only was taken care of but that she met her social and physical exercise for the day with enrichment time at the farmers market! I would definitely rebook her again and recommend Jaclyn to anyone!

My wife and I used Timothy on a trip from Florida to Oshkosh. We were passing through and wanted to take my daughter to the field museum and the shed aquarium. We had our German Shepherd, Sheba, with us, we reached out to Timothy and he agreed to watch Sheba for the afternoon. Timothy went above and beyond. He met us on the steps of the museum to pick Sheba up, and brought her back to us. I cannot overstate how great the experience was, we highly recommend using Timothy. He is extremely nice and easy to deal with.

Hollie was sooo wonderful with our 10 month old puppy, Millie, who is more prone to be anxious. Millie quickly warmed up to Hollie and it was very clear that Millie was super excited to return to see Hollie the next day. Hollie was on time, proactive, and very communicative. She did all of Millie’s favorite activities throughout the day and followed all of our instructions. We would book Hollie anytime and would recommend her to anyone!

i could tell buddy had such a blast time with Anmol after she took him to the park. He’s not usually a big fan of park. Everything was great except I had to wait a bit longer than I’d like to during dropp off but totally understandable because it was 6am. Definitely will come back for any rover care needs!

Vivian sent lots of pictures and took great care of my dog Larry for a day. Larry was a little nervous at first but she made him feel comfortable. She has cute dog that’s very calm and friendly and it seemed like her building has pet friendly areas so it was a great stay for Larry. Definitely would book again, Larry came home relaxed and calm

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
